I’ve just discovered my copy of this… it desperately could do with a HD upgrade. I love this movie and managed to get a copy of the directors “CGI” cut the other day.

Well, you’ve just found what you’re looking for.

Oh I definitely plan to do it, as I said I have already cleaned up and upscaled the deleted scenes from the Blu-ray, and have the HDTV broadcast (Thanks Electric), but I didn’t have the chance yet to check if the deleted scenes match with the HDTV or if the cutting between the sources would be too distracting.

But if you can do it faster (I first have to clean up disc space), I will surely have no objections 😃

I can check it out for you. Besides which, I am trying to gather my sources.

I released my HD edit of the Director’s Edition: http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Star-Trek-The-Motion-Picture-Directors-Edition-HD-Recreation/id/56390

It’s nice to have the best cut of the film in HD.

Well done. You’ve just taken the HD project of the SLV version of this movie to its first step.

Now all we need is a possible HD upscale of the SLV scenes and stuff like that…and we’re good to go.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture - Director's Edition HD Recreation (V3 Now Available.) (Released)

I kind of skimmed through this movie to see if ALL of the changes have been added. A few of them haven’t been displayed here, but hey. I think you’ve done really well. Despite that aforementioned issue and the amount of dirt, hair, and scratches there are on the film, you’ve just taken the SLV HD project to its first step. Hopefully, you’ll find a way to put the other changes in a new version of this cut.

I’ve just found a fan-edit of the scene, in which Kirk leaves the Enterprise through the airlock. The creator (pun-intended) made his own matte-painting of the Enterprise’s saucer section around the airlock-set.

https://youtu.be/BfhYjOa13Dw

This really looks awesome and I’d love to see it in some form in future fan-edits of TMP.
However, I think for any purist rebuild of the Special Longer Version like FanFiltration’s, I think it should stay in it’s original form with the soundstage intact.

This is perfect! Perhaps we can use this for the HD upgrade of this project.

I think everyone might disagree with me on this since people didn’t want any changes to be made to the original footage.
