There hasn’t been any updates on this project ever since. Fascinating.

I have never seen Darth Maul being defeated by Obi-Wan like that before. To be honest with you, I think it was a dumb idea. Having to see him getting sliced in half was a good way to tease his return.
I’ve just discovered my copy of this… it desperately could do with a HD upgrade. I love this movie and managed to get a copy of the directors “CGI” cut the other day.
Well, you’ve just found what you’re looking for.
Oh I definitely plan to do it, as I said I have already cleaned up and upscaled the deleted scenes from the Blu-ray, and have the HDTV broadcast (Thanks Electric), but I didn’t have the chance yet to check if the deleted scenes match with the HDTV or if the cutting between the sources would be too distracting.
But if you can do it faster (I first have to clean up disc space), I will surely have no objections 😃
I can check it out for you. Besides which, I am trying to gather my sources.
Okay, I’ll send you the links.
Ok. Thanks. 😃
I think pittrek might be doing that eventully. I sent him the HD theatrical cut that I used as the source for this edit.
To be honest with you, I kinda had it in mind before pittrek even announced that. Perhaps I can try to make my attempt.
I released my HD edit of the Director’s Edition: http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Star-Trek-The-Motion-Picture-Directors-Edition-HD-Recreation/id/56390
It’s nice to have the best cut of the film in HD.
Well done. You’ve just taken the HD project of the SLV version of this movie to its first step.
Now all we need is a possible HD upscale of the SLV scenes and stuff like that…and we’re good to go.
I kind of skimmed through this movie to see if ALL of the changes have been added. A few of them haven’t been displayed here, but hey. I think you’ve done really well. Despite that aforementioned issue and the amount of dirt, hair, and scratches there are on the film, you’ve just taken the SLV HD project to its first step. Hopefully, you’ll find a way to put the other changes in a new version of this cut.

Perhaps I can help with that. Besides, I might need some help with gathering supplies for this reconstruction.
Mainly the video, but if I get the audio too I would definitely use it too.
Perhaps I can be part of this construction, if it isn’t a problem. Because I have Premiere Pro CC and other programs.
I’ve just found a fan-edit of the scene, in which Kirk leaves the Enterprise through the airlock. The creator (pun-intended) made his own matte-painting of the Enterprise’s saucer section around the airlock-set.
This really looks awesome and I’d love to see it in some form in future fan-edits of TMP.
However, I think for any purist rebuild of the Special Longer Version like FanFiltration’s, I think it should stay in it’s original form with the soundstage intact. This is perfect! Perhaps we can use this for the HD upgrade of this project.
I think everyone might disagree with me on this since people didn’t want any changes to be made to the original footage.
Understood.

Interesting.
I could be assuming that this would be done before The Last Jedi comes out.

Sounds like an interesting project. Speaking of Aliens, check this out.

Yeah. However, both scans could use some clean-up and color corrections.
If I remember correctly Aliens spots and trailers feature alternate shots not available elsewhere, making the task of reconstructing impossible.
I doubt that. I’ve found at least two 35mm scans of the teaser trailer for the film.

Hey guys. I want to ask you all about this. I’ve managed to find at least 4 tv spots to Aliens, but I cannot seem to find anymore of them. If you all have some tv spots, then let me know. Because I thought of reconstructing them in HD. Thanks! 😃
Speaking of Aliens, there is a 35mm print of a commercial to the film. Anybody getting that?
