The empire strikes back was the perfect springboard for the final star wars movie. Seriously, it couldn't have been any more perfect. If only they had deviced a better storyline and a better character study it could have been so much more wholesome. It shouldn't have lost focus on all the main character, yet it should've put way more focus on Luke. For eg: possibly, gradually succumbing to the dark side/or questioning obi wan and feeling betrayed by his 'point of view', inner struggles etc. I find it extremely boring how luke just surrenders and turns himself over to darth vader. What an easy and convenient way to make it to the throne room and the emperor!

Fleshing out the other characters would have helped a great deal too. Now they're nothing more than props. Sacrificing han solo was also much needed.

Return of the jedi is a fun movie. I can live with that. But it should have been so much more than just a fun movie. Especially depending on esb.

I know i do. It's just a little too cute, too out of the blue, too plain and easy and actually not all that believable. It was a horrible way of tying up all the loose ends.

Also too much stuff in Star wars IV contradicts this being an actual possiblity (in a way)...

No, if it wasn't for the dart vader head i wouldn't know what the hell it was.

I don't know, perhaps, but it's presented in a crummy sorta way. And there's a few spelling errors on it.

Comments? i'm sorry, but i don't like it. Looks like a cross between an ashtray and a pokeball. It's a nice idea, but it needs more finetuning and effort...

Eh, Silversufer is pretty lame IMHO. Being as you think superheros are lame, I think it is funny you post in the Comic Fans section because after your comment I will have to assume you are not one. But the rest of us are, so I don't see the point in your comment. I am willing to bet the only thing you know about Silversurfer is the advert. for the second Fantastic Four film. Anyway, Spidey could whip his butt anyday. Surfer is just an illegal alien trying to make a name for himself.

Uh, nah, i don't care about superhero movies heh.

Bet all you want, but i've read quite a lot of silver surfer comics. My dad still has a whole bunch of 'em and that's how i got to read 'em.

Okay okay, some others are alright too, I quite liked the hulk. I'm more of a tales from the crypt/weird science/ moebius/Paul Gillon/sci fi comic kinda reader. And i still like to read a all the heavy metal magazines from the late 70s, early 80S. Some awesome sci from spain and holland.

edit: and spiderman is a wuss

and im leaving this thread now since u guys are pretty serious hardcore crew lol

Silver surfer is the only superhero I really like. Beyond awesome. I happen to think most other super heroes are incredibly lame hehe.

While parts of Eps 1 & 2 certainly disappopinted a friend asked me when I was coming out of the first night of ROTS "What did you think?" and I said "It was everything I wanted it to be" and I still think that about ROTS.

Really now? What about:

The ridiculous opening scroll? War! The Republic is crumbling under attacks by the ruthless Sith Lord, Count Dooku. There are heroes on both sides. Evil is everywhere?

Hilarious droids making funny noises?

An opening battle where no one knows what the fuck is going on?

Millions of different variations of OT-vehicles just for the heck of it?

GENERAL GRIEVOUS? Who is this guy anyway?

Count dooku, an old, old man doing a bunch of flips while he could just as much walked down the stairs which would be much more menacing anyway...

Padme?

Soap drama romance? Love story?

padme, lost the will to live, but she just delivered two babies?

Why have a silly looking robot handle the birth of the babies? Why not a normal human being?

Yoda speaking like a dumbass? Performing tons of saltos in the air? Not if i have anything to say about it blabla?

Mace windu? I still dont know what his purpose was in the prequel trilogy...

Jedi rules/codes etc...not fall in love, not have sex blabla...what the hell is that?

Midi-Chlorians?

All the clones have the dumbest face ever? lol

Blade runner overrated? Well that's a pickin'!

Blade runner is a fuckin' classic. Absolutely ridley scott's crown achievement. And that's saying a lot with his catalogue. The duellists especially, and Alien are among the best films ever.

It's probably the best vision of the future, or the most fascinating if you will. Taking cue from star wars where nothing is perfect and shiny (fuck you prequel future). We get a rutger hauer in a carreer peak, a perfectly understated role by ford, brilliants visuals/story/soundtrack etc.

A bunch of sci fi has been made before and after and not one comes close to Blade runner ( with the possible exception of SW and ESB).

Other sci-fi i enjoy: Outland, Omega man, Soylent green, T-1/2, Stalker, The thing, silent runner, gattaca, robocop, total recall, tron, salute of the jugger, A.I, Westworld, but like i said nothing comes close to Blade runner's genius.

John william's score is the only good thing about the prequels. Though, it kinda sucks compared to the OT soundtrack.

Well, I'm not being fair here, I have to give credit to Phantom Menace's well realized jedi battle between Obi, Quigon and Maul. It totally felt out of place. Too good.

edit: oh, and cass, he's about 76 now I think. hehe

Yes. Before I signed up, I lurked around from time to time in the general star wars section and Gomer really seemed to have some totalitarian grip on all the threads. He always seemed to hijack them with uttermost care.

The thing is, I didn't think he was a bad user, nor a bad person, but something about him seemed a little fishy. And are you sure he actually left?

Well, all I truly want is a watchable copy of the OOT on DVD or whatever replaces DVD. That's why I joined the forums here.

Well it is reasonably watchable if you go by that criteria I think. I'm just happy I have the OOT on dvd. But that's just the point. I shouldn't be happy, because a lacklustre effort was made in order to serve us the best possbile experience.

But yeah, they're one of the most important films ever made and anything less than perfect quality is unspeakable. What's the point of knocking us down with all these special edition releases. Who really cares if some creature farts blablah.

Amplifying the emotion. In real life i wouldn't use 'fuckin' that much, but on the internet you need to use some sort of communication to get your feelings across. I could have replaced them with nicer adjectives, but this is closer to the truth. Live with it.

My brother gave away all the O-OT toys we collected when we were kids to somebody he didn't even know too well. When I and my other brother heard the news we were fuckin' pissed and devastated haha. Now I only have left Admiral Ackbar ( still awesome!), a few ewoks and a guy from the rebel alliance. Apart from that i found out we still had the millenium falcon, a big imerpial starfleet and part from the ewoks treehouse. Fuckin' big lol.

All those prequel trilogy figures and sets look horrible. Ours were worth so much more.

But man, we will never forgive our brother for what he done lol. We had them all. Fuckin' Boba, darth vader, emperor, Greedo, Luke, Obi wan, yoda, R2, Tarkin ETC ETC! =(

Oh well, that's what the original original star wars trilogy dvds are for! If only the quality was a little bit better, but it's still reasonably acceptable. But it hurts. Atleast no dumb dinosaur blocking important stuff, han solo tilting his head like he's groovy, jedi rocks song, full on wampa shots ( ice creature's name right?), Hayden something replacing old Ani...*shudder*!

Anyone else love the dark blueish color of the imperial star destroyers in ESB O-OT dvd? =p It was like this back in the theatres right?
