I wonder how many silly kids are waiting for Episode IV to be released?
Time
That....that was amusing.

Girls are probably more likely to keep watching when "gorgeous, luscious, sexy, and hotttt" are used by them to describle the main character of two of them and a little kid and stupid humor are very present in the first.

But this is a rash generalization based on...well.....some very specific people. But it probably doesn't apply here.....tho I'd suspect its there a little bit.

Unorthodox Star Wars Beliefs
Time
Scotty Balls.......you were owned/pwnd/burned/shot down/....corrected in the most stright forward. I agree with some of the theories of Scruffy's, except maybe the C-3P0 not-being wiped and parts of the Qui-Gon thing....and maybe the Padme thing.

The Force balancing thing makes too much sense that I can't imagine George Lucas just passing it up. Technically Scotty, yu POV is valid, it just unfortunatly isn't gonna be right because the other one makes sense in a much more profound sense. The Jedi are full of themselves, they get all excited over The Chosen One because they think they'll finally have full peace everywhere, and then get screwed cuz they were too narrow-minded to see otherwise. It's way more dramatic and makes the story worth trying to tell. And seeing as how it's fiction......a space opera.....it works.

As for EU:

Timothy Zahn was just OK IMO. They were kinda dry at some points but overall were good reads.

I like most of KJA books because he writes very well IMO and is a little bit more action oriented. I'm not shallow just for wanting a bunch of action but c'mon....it's Star Wars.......battles are top-notch interesting.

Never read the others.

Tartakovsky Directing Dark Crystal Sequel
Time
Hell fuckin yeah. This movie is for me, part of that "List" everyone has of movies that made their childhood memorable. I really don't know much about the poeple making it but if it has been this long, I can't imagine them doing it a horrible injustice. I'm not expecting the awesomeness byond awesomeness of the original, not really even the same style or look (tho either of these would ruin my jeans....ahem) but the story of the original is just too damn cool that a sequel should work awesomely.

That's just my 2 cents.......plus 2 cents.....plus a billion cents...HA!!

Trial of Han Solo - fan film
Time

The search feature came up with nothing and I know for sure I saw a thread about it once here, so I’m just wondering if anyone has a link or knows a place to download the fan film about Han Solo being on trial. I thought it was pretty funny and now my friend wants to see it.

Thnx for any help

PS…Google surprisingly didn’t help either.

Lucas and CGI in the Prequels
Time
Well.....it's just that me and the people I room with consider it one of the funniest movies ever made. I don;t wanna go into details tho. It more of a group hilarity thing. It;s basically a tradition. The movie as a standalone action/adventure is just pure awesome but for some reason we find parts of it comic gold. Take Ian Malcoms laugh on the first helicopter shot....or Nedry's squeel at the money transaction......or the cab driver that lets Dodgeson out of the cab just efore he meets nedry.....(bet you didn't notice that.....he's pissed). Those are just a few things.

But otherwse we consider it in the highest regard of filmaking. Just like Lucas, Spielberg paid attention to all the small details.....but he didn;t forget the human element hich makes all films.....acting.....good acting.

Lucas and CGI in the Prequels
Time
I'm glad I was an impressionable child at the time I saw Jurassic Park. 6 years old and I totally believed they found dinosaurs somewhere. It was just that incredible. Kinda changed my life in a way.

But because I basically watch that movie once a week these days starting a year or so ago (long story....and weird but...whatever) and am currently in school for film i've started to notice things tho I still say that JP has the best CG ever in a movie.

The brachiosaurus in the day shot on the island still looks incredibly good IMO. I mean, you can look close and see some things wrong but you can't point out shot after shot of poorly done CG upon casual veiwing like in parts of the PT.

Now granted it was in rain, at night, the T-Rex scenes with the cars (both the tour and chase) was absolutely hands down perfect. You can pause thos scens and study them all you want and depending on how badly you really want to see a fault, you'll come out with the same thought. When he walks in front of the car with the headlights and everything, you don't have to suspend belief....because you almost can't.

The Gallimimus chase was gorgeous. Now granted they were running at full speed and zooming past the camera, you almost can't help but think they share the same space as the actors. Unlike for example the arena battle in AOTC. I think even the grass movs by the feet, which I wouldn't have even expected in 92/93.

There wasn't much CG raptor in JP and the daylight shots of the T-Rex look almost as good as the Rex's in King Kong (best CG of the year).

So, for it being 1993....and it being the first shot of a CG dino in the movie...the filmakers were being pretty bold with the brachio shot and came outt still better than many shots of the present.

Conclusion.....JP = damn near best movie ever....in so many ways.

What you're reading now: EU style
Time
Actually, I've decided to re-read the OT novels and Shadows of the Empire over the next month or so (lots of school work too). I read them when I was younger and thought it made the OT way more interesting.....before it all changed in 1999. Anyways...yeah. And Shadows of the EMpire because I loved the game, then read the book back in 1997-98 but have now have almost completely forgotten the story.

Lucas was still reworking the turn scene after post production!
Time
^^^Those were great. Funny as hell. I could almost imagine them being in the movie, they add like a realistic "well goddamnit, you know what I mean" thing to those lines.

Anyways, I've never seen that Obi-wan/Maul desert thing before but it could be photoshopped...just a thought.

Also, like most everyone else, I always thought the turn scene was completely awkward and messy. The book does it a little better but it makes so much sense as to why it was like that considering the big change it went through. That son of bitch GL should have had that scene in his "visionary, not making it up as he goes" from the very beginning of writing ROTS. It was important.....too important, to just change whenever. If he thought people were gonna be confused then he should have worked the persuasion by Palp better (again, like the book), giving Anakin a clear obvious reason to stand by Palpatine without fail. The movie makes it seem like he made a quick decision to suddenly be bad and then acted like the only choice he had left was to join Palp, then later makes it seem like it was something he had been sure about for longer than that. It should have been that he thought out his decision and was slowly persuaded (seduced as the OT would have it) and finally determined that the only way to keep Padme alive was to stay by Palps side even when they came to arrest him. The way the old version of this scene seemed to want to play out was exactly as I think it should hace been.

Then again, i guess if he was already mostly persuaded to have made the choice to stick by Palp at his arrest (which I think was very soon after Anakin had told Mace about Palp being the Sith) then the Jedi would maybe have had to find out he was the Sith some other way....adding maybe another story line that might have sucked. But hey, we will never ever ever ever ever ever.....know.

Can someone please explain WHY the audio on the 2004 ANH DVD is so messed up?
Time

They either trusted in the people that store films to do it well and they didn't really or they simply didn't percieve that there would be such high quality formats for the movies to be released on in a way that deterioration was so evident. That and maybe they thought our restoration techniques would be even further advanced to not make it a problem.

But in all seriousness, the companies that release these sub-par versions of important films rely on the average consumers ignorance and over-tolerance to these problems so that they can be out in time for whatever reason. Or maybe they just assume it'll come out later again and they can fix shit then.

But goddamnit, if they can fix "The Wizard of..." fucking "...Oz" to look damn near like it was filmed decades later at least then you think they'd try harder on other historically significant films. Maybe leave it up to people that care like the WoO people prolly did.

Yes, the Tarkin dialogue original tapes must be the reason it sounds weird in the mix. Thats OK with me, nothing they can really do about it when making a new mix from original audio sources. Thats fine, no glitch really, just unfortunate. But I know someone in the past said the rear channels in ANH are reversed from what they should be. I myself don't have a 5.1 to listen to it on but if it is true, that cannot possibly be a creative decision. It is a bonafide glitch. No amount of explaining can justify it. They should have done a recall or something. The quality control just wasn't their. They shouldn't ave rushed to DVD one of the greatest films (the whole trilogy really) to DVD just for holiday. Unacceptable. If (when) it is released on HD-DVD/Blu-ray/whatever these things must be fixed or shit is going down.....here mostly, but still.

bu then again, those movies can not be referred to as films and can therefore not be included in an actors filmography......right?

I'm not really serious, I could care less, either way the movie got made wether it was filmed or taped and that's what matters. Well, unless you don't like it.

Found this quote from Lucas about changing the Original SW
Time
^that was.......wow.....that makes too much sense. I really don't know how to feel about this guy. I mean, sometimes I agree with him, sometimes not at all. I could care less what he likes to do with his films but when he has the weird mind to say one of the most memorable stories ever told was only 25% realized yetmade him a millionaire and won't recognize all these people that fell in love with that makes me wonder about his moral integrity. I mean, I'm not one for religion or whatever the common basis is for morals but I wholeheatedly believe on my own moral level that what he is doing is just.......i dunno.....fuck, i'm just kinda going off track here so i'll stop.

PS....i typed this reply over an hour well attending to different things so i lost my train of thought.
