Donald Trump tells the story of Darth Plagueis the Wise
I can’t help myself, but these long arms and the light bulbs attached all over the body are kinda creepy and uncomforting.
There is some, if you know video games, Silent Hill-ish or The Evil Within japanese body horror type going on in it’s (on set) visual aesthtics.

Unpopular opinion:
The Prequel Trilogy should have had a different Star wars (Main) theme during the opening crawl and the end credits.
Still to this day, everytime i hear the ‘OT’ Star Wars theme in one of the prequel movies, i’m thinking: since these movies deal with a different era and it’s visual aesthetics differ so much from the OT visuals, the main musical themes should also be different.
The ongoing piling of RETroactiv CONtinuity by the Special Editions, PT, ST and any Star Wars TV series, did more damage to the OUT than George Lucas’ refusal to release the Theatrical Cuts.
Rian Johnson Almost Used Anakin’s Force Ghost in The Last Jedi
“Briefly for the tree burning scene, but luke’s relationship was with Vader not really Anakin, which seemed like it would complicate things more than that moment allowed. Yoda felt like the more impactful teacher for that moment.”
RIP David Prowse 😞
Thanks for creating one of the most iconic movie villains with your distinctive body language & posture.
So obviously Lucas had a much bigger presence during the making of Jedi than he did Empire, he was practically a Co-Director, but did Marquand leave any mark of his own on the film? I haven’t seen his other work so I can’t say, and I don’t know if Lucas has attempted to erase any sort of legacy Marquand had like he did so many others on the OT.
I think Marquand had pretty much the same role in ROTJ as Kershner had in ESB. In both cases Lucas led the creative part (story, characters, screenplay, world-building, etc.), while Kershner and Marquand led the implementation and contributed in various ways to the creative part. If you look at it like that, then Lucas was “practically a co-director” in both cases.
Like it was pointed out, Marquand had some important contributions to the creative part, besides directing the implementation. Like Kershner, I think he was a valuable part of the trilogy.
Well from what I heard, Lucas was annoyed with alot of the changes and alterations that Kershner made while directing Empire, so for Jedi he was on set way more than he was during Empire and reshot quite a few scenes, apparently the whole reason Jedi was filmed in the United States was so Lucas could be on set daily.
Lucas wanted to be as far away from the set as possible.
Nope. Not according to the Empire of Dreams documentary…
LUCAS:
I hadn’t realized that ultimately it’s probably easier for me to do these things than to farm them out. Because [ROTJ] was even more complex than the last one, I really did have to end up being there every day on the set, and working very closely with Richard, and shooting second unit, and there was really more work than I thought it was going to be.
And MARQUAND once famously said:
[Directing ROTJ] is rather like trying to direct King Lear - with Shakespeare in the next room.
Due to the burnt corpses of Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, i always thought a laser blast would slowly incinerate a dead body from inside.
Interesting, but they don’t seem to be asking crazy money for it.
Well, the auction ended for 316,25 €. Not too bad for a foldable piece of paper…
Take a look at this german ebay auction:
The seller has a “theatre preview flyer” (sorry, i don’t know the specific english term) which teases ROTJ with its original name
REVENGE OF THE JEDI — in german — DIE RACHE DER JEDI-RITTER
Very interesting…
My take on the remnants of the Empire in a reconstructed ST:
Depict them less military, but more as religious cultists / dark side worshippers / fanatics.
Not like there’s anything else changed that the ever fickle ratings board would threaten a PG-13 over. 😛
Or this one

That gives me an idea … how about removing neck-broke sound effect and replace it with some sleepy snoring. You know, Captain Antilles did not die … he just fell asleep.
While that may be true for now, it can change easily.
[…] they obviously don’t believe […] Disney could […] it seems like Disney has decided […] It seems very, very much like […] it might be able […] it seems like Disney+ is going to be […] they don’t need to cater to it anymore, so they won’t […] They’ll maybe […] but I wouldn’t be surprised if […] Disney/Fox classics will be limited […] if Disney decides […] Piracy really isn’t that much of a concern […] and hasn’t been for long while […] It’s been more of a boogeyman […] I think if there are hopes […] maybe someday possibly […] It’ll be a bonus feature […] This announcement seems to be pointing that way.
Too M-U-C-H assumptions. Move along.

The bashing has kind of softened over the years, but it still feels like some people here don’t really appreciate George’s positive contributions to the Star Wars franchise.
Well, i would say it depends if his positive contributions outweigh his negative contributions. Unfortunately the latter ones made chronologically the stronger impact. That makes it harder to be forgiving i guess.
I don’t care about a ROTS 4-hour cut either, but i would like to see more deleted scenes, especially more of the Anakin-turns scenes from 2003. Lucas partially scrapped those when he made Anakins turn to the dark side merely Padme-centric during the 2004 reshoots. The 2003 version supposedly shows more of the “I should have known the Jedi are plotting to take over!” angle and also Palpatine grabbing Anakins lightsaber to fight Mace Windu.
How much did you pay for it? I’d love to get one of these as well but I bet they’re going for silly high prices.
It came in a used, but good condition. I paid all in all 26 €. Shipment was included.
That’s the third one from the right. The third one from the left was the one I was interested in 😉

It contains a fourth VHS cassette called “Classic Creatures: Die Rückkehr der Jedi-Ritter”. Possibly a making of featurette about the ROTJ puppets, ewoks, etc.
stimmt genau 😃
Thanks benduwan for making me aware that this VHS boxset even exists. 😃 I did not know that until Harmy pointed to it. I managed to purchase the same VHS set in good condition from ebay Kleinanzeigen a few days ago. I really like the white colored font. Until last year i also owned the second VHS set from the left, but i sold it again pretty quickly. The red colored font looks just gross.
It took me a second to recognize Kasdan in the last two photos as he’s rarely present in BTS photos (which isn’t to strange considering people rarely bother to take photos of people writing movies).
I saw this photo so many times in the past few years. But a few moments ago i just noticed that R2 is also there! 😃
Is that a mynock from ‘Empire’?

Letter of recommendation to the Galactic Empire,
please deploy tactical ground troop vehicles sutitable for the respective planetary enviroment.
Slow dewbacks for open wide desert areas?
Fast speeder bikes for tree trunk-infested forests?
Someone needs to lose his job.
Sincerely, a worried Scout Trooper

Grievous with too many lightsabers:
A few weeks ago some guy commented on my “Gary Kurtz on the Star Wars Special Edition” youtube upload, saying:
“I completely disagree with this man’s stance.”
I asked him why and he answered:
“I love the special editions.”
I stayed polite and tried to get a more detailed argument out of him by remarking:
“That is completely fine if you love them. Which version of the Special Edition do you like the most? To this day there are four versions of Special Editions: 1997 - The first Special Edition, 2004 - The DVD Special Edition (Haydens Ghost added to ROTJ, Ian McDiarmid added to ESB), 2012 - The Blu ray Special Edition (Darth Vaders ‘NOOO’ added to ROTJ), 2019 - The Disney + Special Edition (Greedos ‘Maclunkey’ added to ANH).”
His answer:
“2019. Those are the final definitive versions.”
Since he stayed by his one-sentence-replys, i had no desire to deepen the discussion any further.
Happy Birthday George!

Wow, that tie …
