It contains a fourth VHS cassette called “Classic Creatures: Die Rückkehr der Jedi-Ritter”. Possibly a making of featurette about the ROTJ puppets, ewoks, etc.

A few weeks ago some guy commented on my “Gary Kurtz on the Star Wars Special Edition” youtube upload, saying:
“I completely disagree with this man’s stance.”
I asked him why and he answered:
“I love the special editions.”
I stayed polite and tried to get a more detailed argument out of him by remarking:
“That is completely fine if you love them. Which version of the Special Edition do you like the most? To this day there are four versions of Special Editions: 1997 - The first Special Edition, 2004 - The DVD Special Edition (Haydens Ghost added to ROTJ, Ian McDiarmid added to ESB), 2012 - The Blu ray Special Edition (Darth Vaders ‘NOOO’ added to ROTJ), 2019 - The Disney + Special Edition (Greedos ‘Maclunkey’ added to ANH).”
His answer:
“2019. Those are the final definitive versions.”
Since he stayed by his one-sentence-replys, i had no desire to deepen the discussion any further.

Btw, my complaints about the color and sound issues were a little bit overexaggerated. I saw the movie again a few minutes ago and i’m mostly pleased with the picture and the sound for now.
Out of curiosity i checked the “new” Episode IV release here in Germany. I don’t wanted to spend too much money on it so i ended up just buying the DVD. I can confirm it is the 2019SE and not just a repackaged 2011SE. I did a rough scene hopping. The colours look great so far. But the Battle of Yavin has some serious color issues. The death star lasers look dull and awkward blue hues appear everywhere.
Besides that the german audio track has some problems. The nice klicking sound when Leia sticks the death star plans into R2 was replaced with a rubber-falls-on-the-floor sound. And the radio chatter between the Y-Wings on their trench run is f***** up. Partially some words and letters are cut off / missing. Very annoying.
The ending was very underwhelming to say the least.
The novel in general was overall just average. The first third of the book deals with Darth Plagueis until he meets Palpatine. From there on it is basically a Palpatine origin story that leads into The Phantom Menace. Lots of characters show up: Dooku, Syfo-Dyas, Qui Gon, Maul, Nute Gunray, Ric Olie is mentioned and so on. Most of the plot is political manipulations by Plagueis and Palpatine. Hell, Palpatine even aranged for Padme being elected as Queen of Naboo.
A back story to a back story.
Two days ago i finished that book James Luceno wrote called DARTH PLAGUEIS. You know, that sith lord Palpatine talked about in ROTS:
“Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep.”
I was curious if there was more to the story… but i was wrong 😦
Wanna know how that scene turned out in the book? PLAGUEIS and SIDIOUS drank together four bottles of wine, which resulted in PLAGUEIS passing out and SIDIOUS killed him with force lightning. Bummer.
Ironic. He managed to sustain three bottles of wine, but not the fourth.
Is it possible to drink the fourth?

Most of the other 4K screencaps i saw in several threads also suffer from this yellow-ish tint along with washed-out almost monochromatic colors. Very strange.

Hey guys, i’m experimenting with the GOUT DVDs (exchanging audio tracks, convert them to anamorphic, etc.) and i encountered a problem. I would like to add to ANH a Greedo-only subtitle which is supposed to be forced the whole time, so i don’t have to switch the subtitle on/off manually when the movie starts.
In Muxman i highlighted the specific subtitle (in the Drop Down Menu ‘Extension’) with the parameter FORCED, but when i play the DVD i still have to activate the subtitle. What am i doing wrong?
Princess Leia should wear in every scene a new costume. It will be a subtle delicate profound hint that she is Padmes daughter. The unbreakable link between the PT and the OT will be much much much more unbreakable with this enhancement. And it adds so much more layers of story, drama and cloth to the overall arc … called … the tragedy of Darth Vader … which was envisioned by visionary film maker George Lucas.
Anyway guys. I’m fed up with you. You can erase my account. I’m done with this shitty saga. It died long ago. Enjoy your shitty movies and dumb blockbusters.

My biggest overall disappointment with the sequel trilogy is probably that it chose, perhaps not all at once, to pattern itself after the originals to the point that it retells the Empire vs Rebels story almost to a tee. It ends in essentially the same place as does ROTJ, feeling like it recapitulate the story rather than truly continuing it.
The most satisfying part for me has been Luke’s journey from traumatized recluse to revivified Jedi Master ready to nonviolently kick ass. It was a gift horse I looked in the mouth, but has been worth being patient for myself to appreciate. This is the diamond in the rough, woven into the soil of the retread that TFA set in motion.
And that’s why bringing back Darth Sidious destroys Anakin’s sacrifice and redemption in Return of the Jedi.
What ‘sacrifice’ are you talking about? Last time i checked ROTJ Darth Vader lifted up the Emperor and throwed him down a shaft. It would have been a ‘sacrifice’ if Vader jumped WITH the Emperor down the shaft.
Yesterday i saw TROS a second time. The story, macguffin hunt and the overall character drama, especially Rey & Ben Solo, was much better to process as at my first viewing. I feel that my criticism against TLJ starts to soften, because some interesting elements from that movie were carried over and expanded in TROS. Surprisingly i was also happy with Lukes screen time. I thought killing him off in TLJ was rather disadvantageous, but his absence actually supports Rey to be the main hero. I get the impression that Daisy Ridleys performance as Rey is much better and energetic under Abrams’ direction. Her being a Palaptine relative i have zero problems with. At least she isn’t a Skywalker, Solo or Kenobi - that would have been much less interesting in my opinion. I went in TROS complete spoiler-free by the way. I read none of the leaks.
All in all a nice and fun third movie in the trilogy. It has this ROTJ vibe like George Lucas is saying: “Let’s wrap this up as fast as we can!”. It does not feel like a Skywalker Saga nine-movies conclusion as the advertising was promoting. To me TROS concludes the Sequel Trilogy and that is all it needs to do. TROS had to remove a lot of rocks that TLJ put on the road, but it managed to deliver a satisfying ending.

Saw it yesterday in Germany. Overall i liked it, but definitely i have to see it a second time though.
First thoughts…
The Positives:
REY - Finally the character had the likeable TFA heartbeat again. She was kind of dull in TLJ.
KYLO - The scene with his father was great. His ending was very good.
FORCE POWERS - It was nice to see Force Healing and the Force Teleportation/Beaming of objects. One of the few good things that TLJ invented. I liked how that force power was expanded.
RICHARD E. GRANT - That guy was born to be an imperial officer. More menacing than General Hux.
C3PO - He had a lot to do and a lot to say. Unexpected, and i liked that.
LUKE CATCHES THE LIGHT SABER - Nice jab at TLJ. Deservedly so.
The Negatives:
PALPATINE - His reason to be alive would have been more acceptable as a Force Ghost. But again, JJ needed a big baddy because TLJ dumped Snoke for no reason. So, Palpatine being here is TLJ’ fault, not TROS’.
KNIGHTS OF REN - Suffered from Darth Maul syndrome. They looked cool in TFA during the Reys force vision. In broad daylight on Pasana they looked goofy with all their butcher kind of weapons. But again, TLJ missed to introduce them properly, so there is no time in TROS to deal with them more in detail. So, Knights of Ren are a lackluster is TLJ’ fault, not TROS’.
LUKES WIG - Must have been the same dudes work who did Ewans wig in AOTC.
THE BEGINNING OF THE MOVIE - Way too rushed and too fast. No build up or tension.
