So far so good on The Walking dead. I thought they were gonna do something stupid in the second episode, (trying not to spoil it) but the ending totally redeemed it. I really liked episode 3, It was a talky one, but done much better than anything in season 2. They actually seem to have a plot that they're working toward. I'm actually excited to see where this goes.
Wow. Seems like everyone came out of the woodwork for this. I just wanna say, I think this is good. As pointed out on the Incomparable podcast: The movies may be worse, but we will never be more disappointed.
I think we've all emotionally distanced ourselves from anything not OT so the worst that could happen is there's another bad Star wars movie, but there's a possibility that we can get another Great Star Wars movie.

I just read Hitchhikers Guide for the first time (I know, I know.) I'm halfway through Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
Also just caught up with the last 40 issues of the walking dead comic. That was a nice week of depression. Now I've started the new daredevil series. Heard it was good. I may jump on the Uncanny Avengers. Didn't read AvX even though I have the poster hanging up in my room. (It was a gift)
Haven't been reading much in general recently. I've gotta get on that.
Going through Buffy for the first time. Just finished season 4. I try to Put a gap of a few weeks between seasons. It's so amazing that I'd rather not go into zombie mode just to get through it and say I've seen it.
Also rewatching Firefly (Just ordered my Jayne hat for Halloween.)
Also watched season 2 of Sherlock finally. woah.
Also watched the first season of Twin Peaks. Don't quite get the hype. It's entertaining I guess.
Oh yeah, Walking Dead is back. Season 2 made me angrier than any piece of entertainment ever to enter my eyeholes, but the first episode of season 3 was great.
I haven't been here for quite a while. (You're welcome) I've seen many movies let's go rapid fire:
Brick 9/10 balls (Is balls still a thing we do?) Re-watched when I heard who was directing Looper. Very good movie. Intricate dialogue that I very much enjoy.
Looper 10/10 balls. Everything I hoped it would be.
Slither 7/10 balls. So ridiculous it's funny, while still maintaining suspense.
The Big Lebowski. 10/10 My first time. One of those classics that you just never get around to. I got around to it. It was great. But I guess thats just like my opinion, man.
Beverly Hills Cop 8/10 Awesome. Hilarious. Mike.
Primer. I'm not sure. Only watched it once. The picture quality and sound sucks but the plot broke my head.
Donnie Darko 7/10 I'm not sure I get it, but I enjoyed watching it I guess.
Headhunters 8/10 Foreign movie. That escalated quickly.
The Thing 9/10 First time getting through the whole thing. The effects still look surprisingly convincing.
I saw the Devil 7/10 Another foreign film. Not at all what I expected. Worth watching.
Chinatown 10/10 That was like... a perfect movie. Incredible foreshadowing.
12 Monkeys 8/10 In preparation for Looper. Awesome. (also see La Jetee if you can)
Red State 7/10 I wish they went all out in the end. Just sayin'.

The only games that I truly love are the old LucasArts adventure games. Monkey island, Indy FoA, up to Full Throttle. I constantly go back and play them. If you have a moderate amount of patience you should check them out. I also enjoy some SNES and Genesis. Chrono Trigger, Link to the past, the usual.
(I've gotten past the first level of Super Star Wars.)

A foreign small scale time travel movie. I enjoyed the exploration of this theory on time-travel. I would say SEE Timecrimes.
I thought it was a good movie. I'm assuming all of my problems have already been stated above. Not even close to The Dark Knight unfortunately.

Finished Infinity Gaunlet. Wasn't as bad as I feared. I just really dislike the old comic book writing in which they explain in detail what is happening that we can easily infer from the art. The story was set up with a lot of happenstance. At various points the characters even announce that them being in a certain place or doing a certain thing is due to mere luck. The overall story is about Exploringpeople's minds on absolute power. I enjoyed that aspect but it was just way too long and filled with what felt like... filler. None of the characters were developed or had an arc except for Thanos, which is understandable because it wasn't created as a standalone story necessarily.
I really liked the style of the art and bright colors but it had no place in a story about the inevitable end of the universe. I wouldn't recommend it as a story but as a character study of Thanos it was interesting. He literally wants to court death. Huh.
I guess the writing style is a matter of taste. I've started Neil Gaiman's sandman. This is the stuff I like.
Went back to my true love Marvel to mix up my exploration of "renowned" comic books. I finished Joss Whedon's run on Astonishing X-men. I've read a few X-comics before this off and on throughout the past five years or so. But never have I been so enveloped into the story that I actually care about the characters and what they do. He's made Kitty Pryde (a character I'd heard of but never really cared to learn more about) into hands down my favorite X-man. Of course Joss produces impossibly clever plots in which any flaws seem to melt away from my enjoyment. Definitely the most fun I've had reading a comic book.
Next I'm gonna read a supposedly classic 'The Infinity Gauntlet' to familiarize myself with Thanos. I'm a bit hesitant. I have a negative preconception about 90s comics. Of the random ones I've read they seemed to be targeted toward teenagers and rely on big muscles, explosions and boobs to entertain rather than story. But I suppose I will see for myself soon enough.

Really? I think it's moments like that that separate Spidey from most superheroes. It really showcases his vulnerability, compared to many other superheroes - both Marvel and DC don't have too many characters like that with mainstream fame that I'm aware of. It's not the high-school stuff that separates him, it's the fact that the every man - not just the supporting cast - might need to step in and help him every so often.
I have to say that as a character Spider-Man is actually kind of weak. Think about how many times he's wanted to give up the costume compared to most other heroes. What makes him different? Someone else always comes in to be the voice of reason or give him that epiphany he needs. It's a weakness that makes him more... human, something I've always liked about Spider-Man.
I enjoyed the movie except for the music choices in the high school scenes, which is extreme nitpicking. 8/10. You might even say it was... Amazing. *rimshot*
Oh boy that was the only scene in which I really felt insulted. I agree that the dynamic of the people helping is great but it could have been applied so much better. It just felt sooo forced to me.
Oh, and I agree with you on the music thing.
Amazing Spider-man
I thought Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were perfect. The story was kinda meh. The origin story took way too long and wasn't even as good as the original one. He never even caught uncle Ben's killer. The revelation to use his powers for good was downplayed and never were the words "With great power comes great responsibility" uttered. The lizard was kind of cool and all, the web slinging and action I think was the best of all of the movies. I wish they just threw us into Peter's life as spider-man. I mean we all already know the origin.
But if I look at the film as a whole without my fandom clouding my judgement it is a pretty good movie. I'd say it deserves 7/10.
(But if given the choice I'd watch Sam Raimi's Spider-man.)
Recently got back into comics. last I read was Batman: Hush by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee.
I love Jeph Loeb's Long Halloween but it seems like in Hush he tried to cram as many characters as he could into the story. There were many great moments but the ending was kind of a let down. I guess it's more about the journey or whatever.
What I'm really trying to do it bridge the gap between Year One and Dark knight Returns with as few books as possible while still having it feel like a complete story. Hush was too contradictory. So far all I've got is Long Halloween. I've got hopes for Dark Victory and Death in the Family.
The empire strikes back soundtrack. That's it.
Just read The Dark Knight Returns.

Since I saw Drive I can't get enough of Nightcall.
