This remains the basis of my in-development-hell edit, but the sound file is really quite nice. Starkly different from the 2004 sound mix when you listen side by side.

Having compared a few bits of the DVD/LD soundtracks side by side, I think I prefer the DVD mix, where it's good. Unfortunately it's very inconsistent. The most obvious part is where Luke shouts to Owen about the blown-up R5. Owen's lines sound terrible, although a bit of tweaking with a graphic equalizer has sorted that out for my edit.

Are the DVD and LD exactly the same length, then, despite the changes, or did this AC3 transplant need a bit of chopping?

I was just watching my Pre ANH vhs bootleg and stumbled onto something pretty shocking.
The NEW Krayt dragon call for the 2004 dvds is actually part of the REAL original Krayt Dragon call.
Obi-Wan makes the "2004" shriek first, followed by the one that we know from the later releases.
I can't believe I never noticed that before.

Figured I would go ahead and post a wav of it, too:

Since I last posted in this thread, I used my soundtrack CD to restore the music as the X-Wings dive at the Death Star. The music was still present in the rear channels, so those were used to line it all up. I constructed the center channel my mixing left and right. It came out great!

Any news on this, especially the possibility of an AC3 of the 97' sound?

other than the messed up sound on star wars, my biggest complaint obout the '04 version is the f****uped lightsabers and the garbage mattes, the black boxes you can see around tie fighters, and the speeder bikes in return of the jedi. They spend millions of dollars adding new cgi but could'nt fix this with their lousy computers, also the colors are all screwed up to try to match the prequels. Oh yeah, and lucas added jar jar and hayden to jedi. Greedo still shoots first nOOOOOOOOO!!!

Come on dude. Hypertension isn't fun, calm down

I heard that JW was asked to go back and do Imperial March-y stuff for ANH. And from his own lips too.

Vader's voice in ANH... interesting. If i'm right, it's the same recordings but without the over-the-top reverb? I like the old one just fine. New one sounds more 'in line' with the newer movies but I liked the difference.

Hey - where is 'How is that possible?' from? It's the added Vader line in ESB and I'm wondering where they pulled it from?

Probably was recorded in Ep III production as Ian McD's scene in ESB and Hayden's scene in ROTJ was.

Is there a torrent for this?

If not, how can I get a copy?

(BTW - anything similar for ESB and RotJ?)

This sounds great and I'm looking forward to the torrent. one question, however, it sounds like it corrected all the sound errors. But what about the video ones, such as Luke's green saber on the falcon?

yes and if lucas and co cared they would offer one in the new blu ray format when it comes out, with the option of getting it without the redone cgi crap.

Under the updated forum rules, you are not allowed to discuss torrents for the full DVD. If anyone wants to upload just the corrected AC3 track somewhere, that's fine.

Jesus, you're retarded. LOOK at the date of Neil's post... Neil doesn't post here anymore.

Why do you want a corrected 04 DVD of SW Ep IV, when according to you there is nothing wrong it?
