I’m cautiously optimistic about this movie.
Lawrence Kasdan and John Williams involvement is really exciting, but do we need to see this story? That can be said about any movie ever made, but have I ever cared what the Kessel Run looked like?
We didn’t need to see Rogue One either and for me at least it turned out to be brilliant.
In the last few days I’ve decided to channel my anger at what a letdown/mess/bore TLJ was into being optimistic and supportive of the Solo film. It’s certainly pretty easy to get on board since really no one is giving it a chance. I mean it’s got KHALEESI in it.
In the end it may turn out that my personal headcanon will just be to ignore the sequel trilogy, Rian Johnson’s thing, and just appreciate Rebels, the Anthology films, and the amazing Darth Vader comic (among other written feats i.e. new Thrawn book by Zahn)
