Eh, it still sucks.

Pretty much all poster art for wide releases look terrible nowadays, the only movie released this year that caught my attention based on poster art alone was Baby Driver.

Teaser/advance posters for Wonder Woman were widely appreciated around the world (theatrical was very bland), but whatever. I’m happy that they are actually going to use 3 of the teaser posters for different BD releases here (regular, steelbook and 3D). Too bad I’m already thinking about moving into 4K and that cover wasn’t great with all the cast in it.

Anything from the early DVD era qualifies for this thread.

Nearly everything released through MGM looks horrible in one way or another, and that’s not counting the 007 movies.

I stand corrected.

At least preserve some mystery for people who haven’t seen the movie before.

I agree, E.T. is massively overrated.

Complete rehash of Close Encounters by studio hack Spielberg Disney-fied and dumbed down with bad child actors and ugly puppets 0/10.

Not sure if serious.

I remember an L.A. film critic panned E.T., dismissed it as a kid’s film and got a sackload of hate mail.

It would be fun if they remade it based on the original scary concept.

It’s not the first repackage to have spoiled the reveal of a small alien.
Yoda man

Considering the storyboook hit shelves right before the movie, it’s a miracle I didn’t see Yoda when I flipped through it.

Just attempting to emulate some of our more flavorful posters.

I remember seeing that concept art years ago. Who knows whether it would have been better than what we’d gotten, but ET terrified me as a child, so mission accomplished on the horror front. I challenge anyone to gaze upon this alien thing and not get a sense of creeping horror:
The stuff of nightmares
There’s also no denying that E.T. is genuinely a masterpiece.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

This is the most wrong you have ever been.

I don’t think I’ve seen it in at least 20-25 years, so maybe it’s gotten better in that time?

I mean, the CGI is terrible, if nothing else.

Having never seen it myself, I can confidently say ET isn’t that great of a movie as everybody says it is.

The “Walmart Exclusive” range of Superman blu-rays are something to see…

I assume they were trying to make them look like the Nolan Batman film DVD/posters but with none of the design talent that would have required.

The kerning shift from the title to the Roman numerals is the thing that bothers me the most for some reason…

^Speaking of, has the theatrical cut of Superman II ever been released on Blu-Ray seperate from series box sets? I realized recently that it wasn’t included on the Donner Cut Blu-Ray like I foolishly assumed it might be when I bought it about a year ago.

The Superman the Movie cover is beyond all the wrongs.

Those are new covers wolrdwide. They even made steelbook for the first Superman. Also they renewed Batman covers, those are awful too.

Agreed. The kerning is all sorts of shit. Why didn’t they use the OG font from the posters? At least I own the Anthology boxset (8-Disc).
Really hate it when covers use fonts for movies when those fonts never existed during original release. Not a fan of John Wayne at all, but damn those coverarts are shit.
