Yeah modding the u to play cube games is really easy all you need is super smash bros brawl and an sd card 2gb or smaller (as in JUST SD and not sdhc). The lack of matrix pcm surround (or hell even dd surround like the PlayStation does would be preferable to simple stereo) is the only thing that bothers me. I read it was something about how they didn’t want to pay licensing fees. Ugh. Nintendo 64 games had matrix surround and the only n64 game I ever saw the dolby logo on was majoras mask. Although it was very late in the n64s life, so maybe they had gotten “busted” by that point using dolby matrix technology without providing credit.

I have a great home theater setup and it sounds fantastic, so I have to decide if it’s worth buying a new receiver that takes pcm 5.1 just for the wiiu. I’m thinking no. If only stereo mode didn’t just automatically have dolby surround like vhs tapes.

I’ve been looking at Fast RMX and Redout, trying to decide which was a better futuristic racing game to get on my Switch.

It seems music is where it hit for me. I was on the fence , but decided I will wait for Redout after I heard the soundtrack.

I’ve been playing a link to the past. It’s still great.

Yes. And don’t get me wrong I absolutely adore ocarina, of time and forward, and majoras, mask may be my favorite loz game, but alttp just has such a great mystical, magical vibe to it. It feels like it truly has an old world legend for a story.

Just beat it, I hate collecting honestly. Although I will get all the upgrades to Link. (Sword, shield, tunic etc)

The Parallel Worlds ROMHack is too frustrating for its own good.

MASS EFFECT 1, 2, & 3 for PC with mods. Currently 2 and 3 at the same time. No idea if I want to play Andromeda or not. Heard horror stories and not the good kind, but interesting premise.
Still want a sequel to Jade Empire, THE THING, and RIDDICK. Replaying the BORDERLANDS Trilogy and never the TellTale shite.

Also been playing STYX: Master of Shadows and STYX: Shards of Darkness. Need to get playing Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth and VI.

This made me both want to smile and to grimace.

Truth be told, I’m a big fan of Monkey Island. So I spent quite a long time hanging around the Telltale forums (much like we do here) starting from about the time Tales of Monkey Island came out. But then it became clear that Telltale is only interested in chasing the almighty dollar, and not in keeping their fanbase happy. I and several others left after they changed their forums to a reddit-style “community”.

Dude, no. If you actually care about storytelling, Tales from the Borderlands beats the pants off everything Gearbox has ever done with the franchise. Tales is an awesome Sci-fi buddy road trip adventure across Pandora.

My story is similar, though I came in when they first announced Sam & Max. I was also among those that downvoted Bruner when he forced the forum change. But I still follow the company as while I don’t have faith in the management I still appreciate a lot of the devs that still work there. And TFTB has thus far been their last great hurrah. I highly recommend it, even to people who know nothing about Borderlands. It just has that much wide appeal.

Telltale Games’ storytelling is good, but the gameplay is bad. TTG is not the point-n-click successor to LucasArts that everyone thought they might be. Instead, they make interactive stories. Plus, while you feel the choices matter, the truth is they don’t. Story branches commonly meet back together again, or some choice becomes moot (or both). That, and many of their games have various, potentially even game-breaking, bugs. And they move on to the next project instead of fixing the previous one.

My understanding is that many people in their fanbase come excited but go annoyed, as they become increasingly frustrated at how their concerns for a certain game go unanswered.

You know, when I bought Tales of Monkey Island, I bought the Deluxe Edition with a physical copy and a box full of “feelies”. One of the items in the box was supposed to be a cloth map of the ingame world or some such; but it turned out to be nothing more than an image of the ingame map onboard the ship (basically a cropped screenshot), printed smallishly on one side of a white cloth restaurant napkin. And that’s after they told us the Deluxe Edition would be released in “Spring” (my having pre-ordered it) but I didn’t get it until July–and when we were waiting and asked for an update on it they were stone silent.

I was one of several that migrated to the Off-Topic section of Double Fine’s forums.

It was from someone at the TTG forum that I learned about Adywan’s Revisited project, and sparked my interest in Star Wars fan edits.

JEDIT: I just now realized that was August 2010, and Adywan was still working on ESB:R then as well.

JEDIT AGAIN: Oh God, I was a noob back then.

No, that’s not the film I’m looking for. Notice that list, the one that shows all the changes? I don’t want the vast majority of those. I just want the movie that was projected on theater screens in 1977. Something coming as close to approximating the image quality of the original celluloid as is possible in modern-day mass-market home releases would be nice.

What’s wrong with watching the “original theatrical version” that comes on Disc 2 of the Limited Edition DVD? It’s taken from the Laserdisc version, but it works just as well. It doesn’t even say “Episode IV” in the crawl.

Yikes. That’s really embarrassing to see myself say that.

I wish there was a way to run the Dolphin emulator through the WiiU console. Skyward Sword looks beautiful.

I have a thing for going disc-free if at all possible (including on PC before Steam or GOG were actually a thing), and I put USB Launcher on my Wii with rips of all of my GameCube and Wii games. If I had a Wii U, I would move all my old ripped games to it on day one.

I’ve followed Telltale since 2005. I own all of their titles, I’ve played all of their titles. I’ve seen the evolution of their games from classic point and click to their current story-driven narrative games. For myself, story is king and they’re the kings of this new niche they’ve carved out for themselves.

Their gameplay isn’t bad, it’s just different. The way they develop their titles doesn’t lend itself to being able to have all of these wildly diverging paths that all end up going off on their own. It’s a baseless complaint anyway, no other modern titles do that so why do people try to hold Telltale to a standard no one else meets in the first place?

That all said, how players react to the story does shape how the story evolves later on because they develop an episode at a time. They track the choices people make in every episode and use that information to help guide them in where they’re taking the story. So yes, your choices do matter just not in the way most expect.

Only two TellTale games I own are Wallace & Gromit along with Back to the Future. I might have another but I completely lost interest. One random game I completely uninstalled was Dying Light because there were no choices for the storyline and didn’t have an after the game play.
So yes, I consider TellTale a gimmick and don’t even know why I have The Witcher Adventure game for free, which should’ve been made by a different company. Not gonna play their Batman games either nor wasting my time torrenting them.
At least with the Mass Effect Trilogy (have all DLC and lods e mods) the game saves carry over and NewGame+.
But with Resident Evil 6 I’m barely playing it off and on. Really enjoying the Styx duology.

I started with Tales of Monkey Island (at its launch), then got the Sam & Max trilogy, Back to the Future, and The Walking Dead Season 1. Interestingly, I started watching the TWD show because I played the game.

… while the Mass Effect Trilogy is one of my favorite series, I’m not sure how it relates to adventure games.

Cause I’ve been playing it lately and making sure to do the Paragon choices in 1 and 2 before 3. Now 3 and I wish Andromeda had the same team from it instead of the lazy ones which has tons of glitches and bad animation.
The Secret of Monkey Island is the first of the series and played them all. Tales of Monkey Island doesn’t count to me for the series. Random, yes.

Tales of Monkey Island is far more canon than Curse or Escape. It was the first time Ron Gilbert (creator of Monkey Island) had been consulted since LeChuck’s Revenge.

Meanwhile, I liked Curse a lot; and while MI2 was fun, I thought the ending was garbage.

So many people apparently wanted an MI3 by Ron Gilbert, but after the end of MI2 I didn’t care for the idea. He admittedly pulled that ending out of his rear; It wasn’t supposed to have some profound significance. (I’m having trouble finding it, but I remember reading an interview with Ron where he basically says they sort of threw the ending of MI2 together, and it had no deeper meaning other than being funny.)
