Leathal Weapon (1987) – ★★★1/2

Very fun.

I might watch 2, but I’m skeptical if I’d be willing to spend time on more than that, just from my own expectations being that a series like that probably ran out of steam after a sequel. Would anyone recommend the sequels, or are they not worth it?

SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.

I’ve seen all 4 Lethal Weapon movies, and they are worth it! It gets funnier, as the series progresses. Sure it’s not perfect, but if you liked the first one, you’ll enjoy the others.

They’re Buddy Cop movies, what’s not to like?

The Sons of Katie Elder (1965)
My suspension of disbelief has never been so tested, having to believe John Wayne and Dean Martin are brothers.

A Bridge Too Far (1977):
It takes a while to get going, but it’s worth it in my opinion. I also appreciate how the allies lose, something I don’t believe I’ve seen in other WW2 movies. I would’ve liked more music though, I don’t think there’s enough of it.

When I first watched Blade Runner, I went in knowing I was supposed to wonder if he was a replicant or not. Turns out that I didn’t care either way. 😕

I don’t think he was originally intended to be. We know that Tyrell was. It is an interesting idea that the confirmed synthetic human is becoming more human because of his impending mortality and the death of his friends balanced against the supposed natural born human mechanically killing creations so human that he falls in love with one. The possibility that he might be artificial adds something to Roy’s taunts and Rachel’s questions about her memories and Deckhard`s profession. Making it obviously one way or the other was a mistake.

Wait, Tyrell was a replicant? I thought he was just a really good bartender. 😉

I enjoyed La La Land. Found it quite charming but I don’t think it quite deserves all of the lavish praise it’s been getting.

This is probably because I went on a Fred Astaire binge a couple years back, but I found La La Land’s execution quite clumsy a lot of the time.

It was a decent effort and I hope it leads to at least a small revival of the genre. Though hopefully they’ll strive to match the artistry and skill of the past in the future.

Just saw it last night with my wife, and I would say we both thought it was really great and fun, but not as good as everyone seemed to make it sound. I felt like the singing and overall choreography for the first few scenes felt clumsy and not very professional, but the movie picked up and had some really great moments.

John Wick - 7.7/10

Peeped this again last night and it was a blast. Can’t wait to see Chapter 2 tomorrow.

Peeped this

Pretty sure language like this is an automatic permanent ban, but I’ll just report it to Jay and we’ll see what he says.

Weird stuff, had no idea peeped meant anything other than peeking with your eye.
On a side note, I too liked John Wick, and will most probably check out the sequel.

I had some friends over yesterday, and we watched Demolition Man (1993). A classic Stallone flick.

John Wick Chapter 2: 8/10

Slightly stronger than the first this movie is another fun ride that finds a way to up the anti in terms of the action scenes. If you have nothing to do some time in the near future there are far worse ways you can spend your time.

Split 8/10

A pretty damn good thriller and James McAvoy did a great job playing all of the different personalities. It was also had great cinematography and score. Probably my only complaint was the actresses playing the other girls weren’t that good at times.

A View to a Kill (1985) 6/10

A movie that relies a bit to much on the audiences nostalgia for the past entries in the series. Sill it was fun to watch and make fun of.

That’s a fun one. My favorite Bond of the 80s is the Living Daylights though.

Les Miserables (1958)

French, Technicolor, faithful to the source material. Pretty good. Not sure if it’s the best adaptation, but it was effective.
