Star Wars Episode I: Cloak Of Deception (Released) — Page 8

It’s a cheap plot device to give us a reason to care about anakin because of what he represents, rather than by who he is. Who he is and how he acts should be what our focus is on, not on a special kind of of bacteria that he has a lot of that means he’s the figure of some prophecy or whatever. Basically what midichlorians do is TELL us we should care about anakin, rather than SHOWING us we should.

It’s cheap, like jump scares and fart jokes.

i don’t care it doesn’t bother me i just wish there was an edit that keeps the midicloreans and yoda’s fight scenes in.

Jar Jar is cut about as much as average, I think, but Padme still dies.

is there any edit that removes much of jar jar as possible same goes for the bad lines anakin says and padme stays alive but keeps midicloreans and yoda’s fight scenes?

It’d be rather easy for you to use even something like QuickTime to cut/paste together a hybrid version from mine and the original.

i don’t have a blu ray player on my computer just dvd so i can’t do it 😦

If anyone is able to provide a link to the latest version of this, I have been looking for a few days and not turned up anything. Trying to get my gf up to speed before TFA, and we’ve already made it through original trilogy. Was considering skipping the prequels until I came across this edit.

Hello Hal9000! I’ve hear great things about your edits, and was also wondering if you can please let me know where to find a link to download all of the prequel ones, in anticipation for the Force Awakens, I will only watch the prequels if I get yours. Thank you very much, and hope you enjoy the Force Awakens as well!

what are your thoughts on redubbing Jar Jar with an alien voice (and subs) to make his dialogue not only bearable but good, like the Anti-Cheese edits?

It could be fun to try, and I’d toyed with doing an alternate version just to try it. But I haven’t, and I would not want to subtitle Jar Jar since he’s a supporting character who follows the core group around as opposed to a villain we see here and there (like Jabba).

My stance on revising fan edits.

It’s only a matter of time before someone gets a whole new English voice cast for this film so that they are able to completely change the sound. Director Danny Boyle once suggested that sound is 70% of the movie experience, and I agree. If were to happen, Anakin could become a strong character, Qui-gon could become fatherly and wise, and Jar Jar could become actually decent: He could be seen by Qui-gon as a budding Force Sensitive who fights the guiding hand of the Force for most of the film, resulting in him appearing clumsy, mindless, and cynical. However, under the Jedi’s influence, he is able to channel some of his intuitive ability and gains some self respect, regardless of his mannerisms.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Don’t get me wrong, I hate JarJar’s voice and essentially every line of his.

But Hal’s edit works much better than some of the more over the top ones, simply because the execution of these grand ideas (like redubbing JarJar, or removing him entirely) is never good enough to work seamlessly. The results of those ambitious edits are interesting, as sorts of animatics or demo reels to give an idea of what might have been. But I don’t ever feel like I’m watching a real film with them. Hal9000’s edits are more modest, as if someone with a brain walked into the editing room during the later stages of piecing the film together. But they work! And, by and large, the result is extremely professional looking and sounding.

Greetings! Heard of these PT edits and I’d be very interested in watching them, though I can’t seem to find them anywhere. Could you direct me into a direction?

Thank you and this looks like a ton of work you’ve put into this, grats 😃

Hey Hal,

Spent wayyyy too much time tonight reading about your edits on I II and III and I absolutely MUST have your most current work. I don’t know if fanedit.info has the most current, but if so, I’ll use those. Keep up the good work.

PS, have you ever thought about doing anything with the OT? If you have an edit of those that you’d recommend, I’d be greatly appreciative.

FanEdit is the place to go for current info.

For the OT, most of us recommend the despecialized editions by Harmy. They are fantastic restorations of the original theatrical releases. Another popular edition is kk650’s semi specialized OT. He has kept some of the improvements Lucas made over the years, but reverted all of the important or controversial things back to their original state.

I hope you enjoy!
