I think we should follow the OP’s example.
And rate every movie “fuck out of shit”?
Not sure if joking or confused by new layout of threads.
I’ve seen many people list Bride of Frankenstein as their favorite movie. You gave one of my favorite movies a 3 star rating, Lord of the Flies,
I gave the exact reasons for the missing star. The namesake of the picture is brushed over in a ten second shot that had no purpose.
It’s a beautiful shot that communicates the scene from the book without words. See? This is why arguing disagreements over art is so pointless. Ultimately, as far as I’m concerned I’m right and you’re wrong. And as far as you’re concerned, I’m wrong and you’re right.
The solution, of course, is to dub over that shot with Pumbaa from The Lion King.

SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.
hm
Bride of Frankenstein deserves more than a 75%.
Probably my favorite movie.
Now this I don’t understand. I mean, it’s a fine movie, but I’m thoroughly more entertained by many other pictures.
(not knocking you or anything, I’d just never expect to see someone list it as their favorite of all time)The story (in the movie, it’s sources and behind the scenes)
The music
The sets
The costumes
The cinematography
The style
The dialog
The metaphors
The symbology
The acting
The players
The direction
The mood
The story
The lore
The IDEASIt’s not perfect, but nothin’s better.
This is a more concise way to say what you just said:
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
Wow, a 16/16.
It’s twice as good as an 8-ball movie.
Can you give me the backstory to the whole rating things by balls?
IIRC someone came on here and randomly rated a movie something like seven out of eight balls, and was never heard from again. We couldn’t tell if they were a bot or not.
Reported for responding to a request by mfm, who as we all know is a nasty and mean spirited unpleasant person.

The Adjustment Bureau (2011)
5.9 balls out of 8.

Wow, that’s barely above a C-.
And I have no idea how you felt about the movie.
The Person in Question
How does a 5.9 translate to C-?
He’s making fun of either Dek or the people making fun of Dek.
But 5.9 is probably a bit harsh. Upon reflection, I revise it to 6.1. It’s a decent movie.
How does a 5.9 translate to C-?
It’s about 73%.

Oh okay. I kinda skimmed over that conversation.
Nightcrawler
Wonderful performances and a fine script. Ending did feel a little rushed but I really enjoyed the heck out of this flick.

I’m not making fun of him, I’m making fun of arbitrary rating systems.

Can anyone tell me if the Before Trilogy by Richard Linklater is worth watching sooner rather than later? It’s been on my list for a while but I haven’t bothered with it yet. I know it’s supposed to be great, but my question is: should I prioritize watching it?

Like, C- worth it?

It’s a great watch for sure, but that’s a tough question to answer. Depends on what other stuff is on your watchlist I suppose.

Right now the remake of the Karate Kid with the girl in it is on my watch list if that gives you an idea.

I dunno, but you should skip it and watch John Waters’ The Diane Linkletter Story anyway.

So… it should probably be near the top of that list then?
