Honestly, with regards to Anakin’s ghost at the end of ROTJ, I don’t really partake in all the whole deeper philosophical arguments about it. I think the best argument for Shaw being there is that Hayden looks creepy as hell there and has no resemblance to Anakin as Luke sees him. It’s also a terrible reminder of the terrible prequels.

I haven’t watched TFA in a while. I think when I do rewatch it soon, my opinion of it will turn out lesser than I had it before.

These people you’re talking about are probably folks that have never seen the original editions of the films, and have only seen the special editions their whole lives. Therefore, they’ve no reason to care about the preservation of the originals, and they might think that originals are worse than the special editions.
