(However, I do think we should expand the size of Congress which would greatly mitigate the problem of a disparity between the Electoral and Popular vote.)

I’m not so are about the Congress idea. 535 people is already quite a a lot to know, and increasing the size of Congress might introduce new inefficiencies and make it harder for Congesspeople to collaborate. I hear this is a problem in the EU legislature.

Huh. Nothing seems wrong with those specs you have. Your CPU seems good; the GPU isn’t the best but is stills serviceable. You were probably using badly-written applications that don’t take advantage of the hardware correctly.

I’m sure historically Presidential health issues have been covered up before, but it was a lot easier to keep a secret back then.

Woodrow Wilson had a stroke in 1919, and became incapacitated due to it. It was covered up for a few months. Some say that Reagan was already suffering from some mental decline in the latter years of his presidency.

In other news, Trunp is not well:

I am not a medical professional, and I will not pretend to know what is truly happening here. It’s become a common conversation topic in Washington to muse on whether the president is suffering from some form of cognitive decline or psychological malady. I don’t think those hypotheses are necessary or meaningful. Whatever the cause, it is plainly obvious from Trump’s words that this is not a man fit to be president, that he is not well or capable in some fundamental way. That is an uncomfortable thing to say, and so many prefer not to say it, but Trump does not occupy a job where such deficiencies can be safely ignored.

How is he going to fake his way through the mandatory physical he’s got coming up early next year? He can’t substitute that pseudo hippie personal doctor of his to do it. At least I hope not. If he tries to suppress the results, it will only fuel speculation.

I guess he just locks himself inside the Oval Office.

Going by the popular vote isn’t going to fix the underlying problems with the first-past-the-post system.

A year or so ago, yhwx and I had a little discussion and he shared some interesting videos. I like the idea of runoffs or ordered preference (whatever the official term is for those) elections.

Yes, it’s called instant runoff voting. I think I’m less sold on the idea than I was previously. It definitely can be said that it makes voting more complex, which I don’t think is necessarily a good thing. That may deter people from voting. The choice between having a fairer voting system and having more people being able to vote is a hard one.

In the East, it could be the COLDEST New Year’s Eve on record. Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against. Bundle up!

It is bitterly cold here.

Not so much in other places.
