I think we just need a better benefits and retirement package for the site.
Actual LOL.

Broads, babes, bitches, chicks, c*nts, dolls, fems… Are any of these better?
🙄
Jeez dude now you’re saying we aren’t allowed to use the word female?
You can totally say it, but I think a better term should be used.
The OP might consider this a “bias”, but I’ll say it anyway. I don’t think very many females want to frequent a Star Wars forum. That’s the reason why there are few female posters, not because they are angered by the community.
Bias!
P.S. – On your (and many others) use of the word female:
I don’t like to use the term “female” sense it seems a bit clinical and cold.
- Not using punctuation
- Not capitalizing the first word in your sentence.
These are all stylistic choices. The point of language isn’t to be strictly held to the rules, it is to get a point across. Concerning yourself with the rules only burdens yourself. It is better to communicate something in a successful way than to nitpick other people’s grammatical choices. If I get what a person is trying to say, that’s all that matters.
u wrong bro
See, this is a perfect example. Even though you used improper grammar, I still am getting the message that this is a joke, or perhaps secondarily, you disagree.
#MissedTheJoke (a bannable offense, I know.)
It seems that this idea and thread was ill-considered.
I suggest that it should be locked, since there seems to be no room for further discussion on the topic.
That’s not how things work here, especially in off-topic. The thread doesn’t get locked just because the OP thinks there’s no use for it.
And discussion continues until the pack decides there’s no more to be had…and then some idiot like Hansi will just bump it two months later anyway.
Great! (I am saying that unironically and am not being sarcastic)
I guess the market should decide whether threads continue or not.

1: Your English teacher would strongly disagree.
Why?
2: This thread is not to be taken seriously.
I know.
It may be that we’re doing certain things on this forum that are detracting women and girls.
Of course we are. We’re talkin’ the extremely nerdy minutia of Star Wars.
See, you’re already expressing biases here. That shouldn’t detract away users. There are plenty of women and girls who like Star Wars.
How many of those people are going to come to a forum, a rather dated website format, when you’d be more likely to be discussing it over at /r/StarWars, or hell, just with other people in person? The amount of anonymity that comes along with making an account here is enough reason to suggest that it doesn’t really matter who you are. You just need to hate the prequels, find ROTJ mediocre, and be repeatedly blown away by Dre’s algorithmic skills.
Guess I should leave then…
I agree.
I mean, I don’t either, I’m just talking about what’s usually commonplace in these discussions.
I should clarify that I don’t think that Return of the Jedi is mediocre, and I apologize for any confusion caused by my comment.

Of course there are. My girlfriend loves the OT as do most of the females I know.
And there’s nothing about this place that would push women away any more than any other fan forum.
And yet, they aren’t here… I hate to play into a stereotype here, but if you’re lookin’ to meet girls, this ain’t the place.
My goal with this thread wasn’t to “look to meet girls,” it was to increase the people on this forum who aren’t men.
However, has this thread has played out over the past twelve hours, it seems that it is failing miserably at that. That is why I proposed to lock the thread in an earlier post sense there seems to be no further room for discussion on this topic.
It may be that we’re doing certain things on this forum that are detracting women and girls. And, we also have to find a way to encourage women and girls to post.
There is an age limit for signing up here so what criteria are you using “women and girls” when you reference them as members?
I don’t like to use the term “female” sense it seems a bit clinical and cold. I want to include people of all age groups.
I don’t believe all age groups can be members due to the age limit.
Some people identify more with the term “girls” than “women.”
So why not female fans then. It doesn’t suggest a difference of age and it is gender specific. 😃
As I said earlier, I find the term “female” to be a bit too clinical for my tastes.
It seems that this idea and thread was ill-considered.
I suggest that it should be locked, since there seems to be no room for further discussion on the topic.

I mean, who even cares if women are posting or not. I don’t concern myself with the gender of everyone who posts here, and I don’t think it’s crossed the mind of most people here either.
If we improve diversity, we may have more people who post on this forum, and therefore a greater wealth of ideas.
We don’t want this place to become a sausage fest.
I think it’s a bit late for “become”.
There’s always room to improve.

Doesn’t it kinda defeat the purpose when we’re trying?
Shouldn’t it be up to them to post or not?
If you have to convince, you’re already losing.
No.

I think that we should move this topic to another thread in Off-Topic.
I have done so already:

This thread is for improving the diversity of this forum to be more inclusive. You may discuss anything related to this topic.
This a continuation of a topic that started on the Ranking the Star Wars films thread.
Now we all know about you, yhwx.
Or should I say… John?!
I think I’m missing the joke here.
Just imagine if your name had actually been John, though.
It’s not. 😉
Although the person I’m quoting in my signature (".sig," if you will) is a guy named John.
Duracell (he? – Sorry, I don’t like to make assumptions)
I am male. Hear me meow.
Good to know, but I’d like to know how many members of this forum are women and girls. It seems like it is very male-predominant.
Well, I mean we are in the deeper side of the internet. Here be monsters.
That’s not an excuse.

No worries, spend some time here and you’ll soon learn who needs help, who doesn’t, and who really needs help.
I’m mostly a lurker, since I don’t really like to draw attention to myself on an internet forum. Now of course, I’m doing this right now, but nonetheless. . . .
