And yhwx obviously does that on purpose. That way when you inevitably ask what he’s babbling about he gets to post again.

I believe that whomever uses the yhwx account ultimately relies on others to justify the “uniqueness” of the account itself. All the typed conversation is as predictable as the cheat notes on a pyschic’s hand.

(I’m totally stealing this from Frink and running with it)

The point is that calling it a sin can (in certain deranged people’s minds) justify hate and violence, and that makes it hate by extension at the least.

So because someone misinterprets what I believe to justify their hate and violence, means that I hate as well?

I’m not understanding this logic.

It means that your religion helps to encourage hate, intended or not.

Even though we believe in loving everyone, even our enemies? Even though we believe that committing acts of violence is also sin?

Those people ignore that.

I’ve said it before, I’m saying it again: I really wish dream-recording technology was available.

Why would you want such a thing? Just for entertainment?

Why did Salvador Dali paint his paintings? Why did M.C. Escher etch his woodcuts?

It just doesn’t seem that there would be much to gain from a recording of a dream.

There doesn’t seem to be much to gain from collecting stamps, but people do it and I for one am not one for questioning their hobby.

So, I ask again, just for entertainment?

As a person who rarely remembers his dreams (and when I do, they’re generally incredibly mundane), I can never believe that people remember their dreams with all this detail and specificity.

I don’t think they’re actually remembering their dreams. Dreams are what I like to call brain junk: They are just the result of the brain trying to reorganize information during it’s daily off time. In other words, it’s just a hallucination. If there were a dream recording machine, what you would see would probably make no sense at all. Humans always want to build stories and structure around things that don’t have much story and structure in the first place. So, when someone remembers a dream in great detail, they are most likely build a non-existent and made up story around a general feeling.

I understood MFM to be talking to yhwx, not Frink.

I knew.

Dubious (and wrong) assumption. Many times I like to state myself in the least amount words possible. Sometimes that calculation isn’t always correct.

So hopefully this can alleviate some of the confusion:

Crusades were fought for many reasons: to capture Jerusalem, recapture Christian territory, or defend Christians in non-Christian lands; as a means of conflict resolution among Roman Catholics; for political or territorial advantage; and to combat paganism and heresy.

Take of it what you will.

I’m not understanding this logic.

It means that some people that share your faith might believe that.

He clearly wasn’t talking about you.

“You’ll have to elaborate. From now on just assume that I’m too stupid to understand what you’re implying.”

I thought that was directed at me since I said something similar to you in the Religion thread. If that wasn’t your intent, I apologize for misunderstanding.

I just meant that he clearly thinks everyone can read his mind and understand what he means without him even giving something that resembles an explanation.

Reasonable criticism.

I told him to assume I’m stupid so that he’ll just explain himself in the first place instead of playing this “you don’t get it” game that takes up half a page of a thread.

You’re not stupid, so please don’t lower yourself to that level.
