Also, does anybody have high resolution images from the Clone Wars micro series?
I'm willing to do other covers too if people are interested AND can get me good images for the cover and back. Heh, and not to be too demanding, but if it's something I'm not familiar with, I'd need body copy (the text).
Would anyone mind especially if I just left out the rating reasons? They'd be hard to scan, and it's not a requirement that DVDs have them on the packaging ...
Well, I don't have a version without the text, but I'll leave that to somebody else Here's a variation on the ROTJ poster with a green lightsaber. It's a bit tricky to make it look right. If the green is too saturated, it looks out of keeping with the rest of the poster, but if it's not saturated enough, it looks different from the way it looks in the film. Also, in green, it sticks out like a sore thumb in the composition. In a color theory way, it overwhelms the rest of the poster ... But I was curious to see what it'd look like. I hope it helps.
Thanks for the comments guys. Before anyone prints these out, I should warn you that I've noticed NUMEROUS spelling errors, etc. I'll update them as soon as I can. Hopefully I can get to my storeage space tomorrow and deliver ANH too
2004 DVDs ... but if I had the choice, I'd choose the O-OT
pro 2004 Edition: -for whatever you might say about Lucas' irrational devotion to SFX and image quality, you have to admit, they look pretty amazing (clarity, color accuracy, etc.) -better Jabba (why they couldn't get him to the quality of his PM counterpart I can't figure ...) and other CG characters -Ian McDiarmid in ESB -Updated ROTJ ending celebrations -Han is getting closer to shooting first again LOL
things I didn't care for: -Anakin's ghost - that's fairly unforgivable IMHO -green lightsaber in ANH? How did this happen? and lightsaber inconsistencies in other scenes ...
Other than that, the changes seemed pretty minor. Honestly, I don't see how refusing to release the O-OT gets Lucas more money. I think it's a case of an "artist" being too interested in pleasing himself to accept outside input. That can be seen as a good or bad thing ... personally, I wish I could have a nice transfer of the films as they originally were. LOL, but somehow, I don't think that's an original thought on these boards.
Originally posted by: Jedikev Those are excellent, can't wait for A New Hope. In Jedi why did'nt you use the Teaser poster at the back of the cover.
He didn't use it for ESB either, did he? I always thought the glittering Vader was the advance art.
Right you are.
To be honest, I don't know TOO much about the posters ... I just used the ones most people are familiar with for the OT. For ANH and ESB, I've used style A and for ROTJ, I've used style B (none are advance posters.) The advance posters for the OT are just not well known. ANH is text, ESB is the vader and stars and ROTJ is REVENGE of the Jedi ... they just don't seem appropriate to me. I'm trying to be a bit mainstream with my designs. (For more info, check out http://theforce.net/collecting/posters/ )
BTW, it's proofreading time. I've got them up on grisan:
Hardcore Legend - I agree 100% on all accounts. I just plopped the new logos over where the special edition logos used to be, but because these logos are a lot ... um, quieter, it doesn't work well. Plus I haven't included the poster credits (whatever thay're called); as a result the balance is off. Actually, I updated them using the same height as on the prequel posters, which works great. Silly me As far as ROTS goes, I agree the logo gets lost, but I'm hesitant to mess with it too much. I might put a black glow around the text to make it stand out a bit more, but beyond that, I'm just too "must be like original poster" - o_O
I should probably thank those who provided scans, namely Laserschwert (for the Special Edition and prequel posters) and Mr Freeman (ROTJ). I'd also like to offer a big thanks to ChainsawAsh for his/her title treatments.
klokwerk - I'm happy to upload them, but I don't have any space If you want, you can PM me with your email and I'll send you the big versions
Jaster Mareel - I'll definitely be doing some TR47 covers, more or less along these lines. I'd certainly consider doing others, but I haven't seen Clone Wars or the Holiday Special. Are they worth the trouble (specifically finding a copy of the Holiday Special)?
It's not 100% accurate, but I made this from a photo of the original poster. I'm rather proud of the rich colors and the faithful 'look.' Hope you enjoy!

That's odd ... I tried reinstalling everything (from a clean format of my harddrive) and I started with Cyberlink PowerDVD first, just to see. Did not work
Originally posted by: wannabegeorge Has anybody gotten the TR47 set to play correctly on a PC?
mine plays w/o any difficulty. what sort of problem are you having?
The glowing reds (like R2's eye) seem WAY lower resolution than the rest of the image and the last parts of SW and ROTJ refuse to play. On my home theater system however, they play just fine (no resolution issues and no playback errors). It seems like a codec issue, but I thought there was only one MPEG-2 codec. I thought that was the whole point of MPEG--consistency. Anybody have any ideas?
