Wow.  I think I'm done checking out this thread too.  No offense guys, but there's far too much of this for a faithful married man.

So you are saying Indoor Volleyball isn't a legitimate sport? Or that the body of an athletic woman playing a sport should not be visible or noticed? I know that's not what you meant, Ender, but we're talking about fully clothed women dressed appropriately for the sport their in. Do you allow your wife to watch (American) football knowing that they are wearing tight pants and your wife might actually notice the shape of a man's buttcheek (and maybe even enjoy the view)?

Personally I blame God for making such body parts jiggle when they jump and for making men hardwired to notice such things.

Maybe we can make them all wear robes just so married folks don't accidentally get aroused. Sure they won't be able to perform as well in a rope and the women might feel oppressed for being forced to wear them but it will keep the married men holy and in the end isn't that all it matters? ;)

whatever,  my nation is the US of A and that is who I cheer for.

Would it be a bit unpatriotic of me to cheer for the Chinese?

yes.

Then I think Zombie's comments on nationalism stand pretty damn firm.

I didn't comment on Warbler vs Zombie, but I thought zombie84 was dead on.

What I do want to comment on is the idea that cheering for other countries is unpatriotic. Olympic coverage is notorious for telling the life stories of specific contestants. I'm sure it's okay with warbler if I decide to cheer for one individual contestant over another regardless of the country they are playing for, right?

Also, warbler, you disagreed that the Olympics were political and said it was entertainment. If it's entertainment and not nationalistic competition then why can't I cheer for China in all events?

I'd be sure there was no purpose or no meaning to existence, rather than merely feeling such.

I guess at the very least the purpose of life would be to continue our species (the same purpose for any living thing on this earth). I'm not saying there's not more to life to than that, that would be boring as hell, just saying that coming up with supernatural purpose, god(s), afterlife, etc is not necessary.

By "I mean mankind" I mean I could literally make up the dumbest story I could think of (including a dump truck with a beard) and if I has the charm and charisma I could start a religion/cult and people would believe in it just as fiercly as Christians believe in their beliefs or Muslims believe in theirs.

If I would have just left it as "these silly willies will believe in anything" I knew you would assume I meant Christians or you or Ender personally.

I think you has lotz of charizma and you coulds totally starts your own kult.

HAHAHA!! The cult of Popeye. I yams what yam.

So I had a dream a few years back that's really stuck with me.

I broke into the Dinosaurs' computer lab and started to dig around in their files... and I discovered the shocking truth that the world was created by a Dump Truck with a beard.

Thoughts?

Start a religion. These fuckers will believe in anything. :P

and by that I mean mankind. (It seems shameful that I have to be clear I don't mean anyone in particular in these forums)

not really sure why you think that shouldn't have to say "and by that I mean mankind".     I think without the part in the quotes, it would be perfectly reasonable of me to take what you said very personally.

Yeah that's why I put that there. So you wouldn't think I meant you.

Already having learned this stuff before, it is still refreshing to learn about genetics and the amazingly complex chemical reactions that comprise replication, translation, and ultimately what leads to a life form.  I fail to see how this could have arisen without a God.

I've though about that quite a bit in my hours alone at work. I think it's very unlikely that all this could happen on its own on the first try. I will not dismiss the possibility of a God without proof, but I would say that in an infinite universe given infinite time, all possible outcomes could occur. Assuming the universe recycles itself periodically like all things in nature seem to do, if there's even a possibility life could begin without divine origins then it would happen eventually. It could have very well taken 80 million  or so universal cycles for conditions to be just right for life to happen on our tiny dot in the cosmos. That's my two pennies. However, that idea depends on the rules governing chemical reactions leading to life being in place already, which then begs the question of how these molecular and sub-atomic rules are established.

Well said.

"The Ewoks Project - Animated TV Series" DVD set (now on myspleen) (Released)
Time

Myspleen is up and running again without issue. We had to suspend uploading and invites because they would have been deleted when we returned to the current backup.

The site was down for less than a day because the site was on a temporary server while they were setting up our new one (same great host, just a new server since the last one is completely toast).

Sorry for all the issues, it's now safe to go crazy on Ewok uploads :D

Damn, looks like a couple months worth of data are gone.

I had improved my seeding ratio big time in the last couple of weeks, but now it's back to what it was before.

Hope things are okay over there.

we are having the server drives sent to us so we'll know in a couple days how screwed we are. We have collected most if not all of the missing torrents in case we can't get data off the discs.

If we are left to the situation we are in now, I'm sure we will have freeleech for quite and extended period of time.

Maybe someone here has a better answer since I cant seem to see any mention in the FAQ: what are the rules for Ratios? Are there warnings/bannings/restrictions?

Obviously I want to try and keep mine up but I'm trying to get my hands on the despecialized Jedi and I know that if I DL it my ratio is going to PLUMIT which I want to try to avoid, especially because it looks like a great site and hopefully I'll one day have more stuff to contribute.

We don't have specific rule about ratio, we just want to keep stuff seeded without having to enforce rules.

So if you want the Despecialized torrents, have at it. Just seed afterwards :)
