no problem. Ultimately, it's really hard to say what could've been done or what was happening in their minds at the time. Remember this was in slow motion & these things are happening in fractions of seconds in real life. Each person was constantly making adjustments, changes, & adapting to the situation as it unfolded. These are also very high ranking individuals with decades of experience. I've been practicing kendo for a little over 5 years (with about 2.5 years of olympic style fencing before that) so I'm still considered very much a beginner. I can only analyze these guys so much b/c I have so little experience comparatively.

Also, blocking/deflecting is something that is very complicated, hard to do, and especially to describe. It is poor form to hold your sword up horizontally to block as it is a really weak posture (someone striking with good strength will knock the sword down with the power of their strike & still hit you in the head, your wrists just aren't stong enough to stop a powerful blow). Also, you NEVER block with the sharpend edge (it will ruin the edge & create a weak point where the swod can break more easily. plus if you strike two katanas edge on edge they literally stick together as the edges cut into each other & then must be forcibly pulled apart...). You also don't block directly with the side of the sword, as it can be broken or bent too easily. You either use the side of the sword at an angle to deflect the force of the blow, or use the hard back side of the blade to block/deflect. But the best thing to do is to cut down your opponent before you have to counter his strike...

Thanks for all that! :)

Seems like that was what the left guy was trying to do, actually, he tried to go for his wrist... but too late :)

I don't care that you bitch about blah blah blah.

Sensing a pattern?  I care that you bitch about everything and you do the same bitching over and over.  You are the horse-murderer of the forum.

End of line.

Actual LOL!

Could it be that he's got some kind of light compulsive disorder or something? From a rational point of view, one would think that a forum so openly based around fighting for the OOT and bashing "Darth Lucas" along with his later work, would need just a tiny bit less of continuous religious reinforcement of the same obvious thoughts... but apparently not.

I'm in a choir, and I could do without the preaching parts. That doesn't make me a Satamist. Thanks.

one could say there are ridiculous things in the Bible too.   If one lived with Westboro Baptists or watched  the 700 club, and listened to some of the arguments as to whether or not the KJV is one true word of God, one might draw the conclusion that Christianity is stupid and ridiculous.

Yes, the same applies to Christianity.
Congratulations!

I'm curious what Islamic country were you living in?    Just because that one country did some dumb stuff, is no reason to indict every single Muslim in the world.

You're doing dumb stuff right now by posting this asinine response.

Always remember, you have to be making sense on the... internet...

That's a pretty high ideal.

...Especially considering you haven't met that 'ideal' yourself.

It's pretty much a requirement if you want to argue about a particular subject without being totally lame, be it some external topic, or calling someone else an idiot. ESPECIALLY if you're gonna call someone else an idiot.

Things must, must, always be backed up :D

I may be wrong on occasion (like once very recently), but I always make the effort to substantiate my claims and insults, which I can't claim of some others here.
Because just saying "no, you're dumb" doesn't make it so, it makes you look like a doofus - and apparently some people on this board don't really grasp that yet.

"Making sense" is determined by the arguments. No arguments, no sense :D

How does any of this apply to what I said?

I wasn't arguing any point.

I never called you an 'idiot'.

I never said '...you're dumb'.

And, you cut off my third line, which was the punchline of my post.

You, sir, make no sense!

I was referring to what others did, not you ;)

Punchline appreciated.

Until Lucas decided we needed to know Darth Vader was Luke's father, who built c-3p0 a robot more human than vader to make a kind of irony.

Lucas likes to echo the stories in the prequels, but did we really need to know boba was a clone who was sad cause his dad died, lol.

That Luke and Anakin come both from the same world.

The retcons really started with empire depends on if you except vader as the father in V, and leia as the sister in VI or say its horshit because that was not there when he wrote star wars 77.

When i see star wars when Obi Wan says Vader killed Luke's father that sounds literal and not like obi wan is lying.  Lucas started by making him a horrible liar in V and then look at how much of a deceiving asshole he is by the prequels which are supposed to have been written before the other movies but were written in the late 90's to 2000's.

Sometimes i wonder how different it would be if the brackett script with Vader as the slayer of Lukes father and not his dad had been made.  And if we really had a revenge of the jedi where the purpose is for luke to avenge his teacher and his father.  But that would also have been at the time less mythic .

This is about EXPOSITION in movies, not how the prequels ruined the originals. Please, get rid of your obsession and get a sense.

I already don't ;)

Your general attitude just strikes me as someone in their first year or two of college.

Or does it?
You should consider that (as I've often stated), I behave completely differently in real life, when dealing with peers, or elders, than on internet boards (where I, save for rare exceptions, don't think about making friends, and just come to say what I think).

Saying "your argument is stupid" to an anonymous face on the internet, who has anonymity and lack of personal contact to shield THEM from emotional injury as well, when you've come to exchange ideas and say what you think, is simply different from interacting with actual people you have some relationship with, and care about in many more ways than just what they happen to say about something, and how.
(Probably with the exception of some family members, with whom I tend to argue about stuff rather often, and none of it affects the relationship in any way.)

[I realize that certain real-life scenarios, like public debates, have more in common with internet boards in terms of "the opinion mattering more than the person", while certain kinds of boards, like self-help communities, are more like careful real-life situations - but those aren't milieus I happen to deal in.]

So the real irony is, while you're claiming to "recognize" my attitude and behavior from your RL experiences with college freshmen, you probably wouldn't recognize me as one if you met me in real life ;)
Especially drunk.

From my side of the fence, when I'm looking at the HAIR-RAISING stupidity (inability to make a case while insisting that I'm the stupid one), immaturity (intruding with a "oh he's always right you know" in some other topic; not admitting your mistakes) and dishonesty (you know what I'm talking about, so don't bloody pretend you don't :P) in your posts whenever we lock horns over something stupid, I wouldn't think you're some educated guy capable of writing well-argued research papers, either.

As Pat Condell said about Pascal, "he was a very smart man; but he might as well have been an idiot". (Or an ACTUAL college freshman who meets all the clichés.) Someone should make a giant statue of this quote, and launch it into space for all to see.

Now, no one's gonna contest the unquestionable priority of stupid internet arguments about nothing over scientific papers here, but the point being, you obviously like to keep two sets of books, as well ;)

But that is the thing, I didn't really provide any examples of Islam being the things I claimed it to be (I could, I just didn't want to get into it), and without them my argument is pretty weak and baseless, but since you agreed with it you filled in the blanks and decided it was a pretty good argument.

It was a pretty well-articulated post about something I already knew to be true from other sources, so I commended it.
Also expressing due respect for the whole "writing research papers" thing, even though I don't know the quality of those papers, and ultimately have to take your word for it.

Having that said, half of my motivation for calling your posts "awesome" was obviously purely diplomatic :P
It was an okay post. It was good. It's okay. It's good.

Trust me, wasn't much of a guess. Your posts reek of college freshmen.

When I was in college there were shitloads of awesome things to do (aside from studying), there was alcohol, pretty girls of low moral fiber, fraternities, and all sorts of opportunities for the fun kind of trouble.

Not sure when the semester starts in Germany, but when it does you damn well better be out there living it up rather than wasting your time in bullshit fights on a stupid sci-fi forum. ;)

Oh, oh oh oh, wait, no... now for once you get to complain about my language problems!
I'd thought "freshman" meant "in the beginning years" or something like that.

Nah, I've studied music for two years now (semester just ended last week) - leaving now to catch up on my Abitur (which I've previously dropped out of, because I wanted to study music... it's complicated).

Now obviously none of that in any way reflects on my posting style (I'm gonna discuss star wars and pissing contests the same way whether I'm winning piano competitions or struggling as a car salesman's bitch), so you might as well let go of the stereotyping :D

(Liked going to town and partying a few years ago, back in school... nowadays, not so much.)

Oh wait, it's everyone else that's the problem.

I'm wondering... have you really forgot that you've started this thread with a flamebait towards me, or are you really this stupid?

Don't call Frink stupid! Only people who actually are like yourself can be called that!

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiigh, okay, for the 100th time:

Saying something that amounts to "no, x is not stupid, you are stupid!" without any argumentation whatsoever = the way a moron talks.

And that right after I said this?

Wow. I mean... it's a TRAP!!!.. yea...
