Help Needed & Feedback Wanted: STAR WARS - Symphony for a Saga

I have, and I've got to say that they're all quite impressive. The Episode 1 suite would have to be my favorite due to your excellent remix of the Duel of the Fates and also, the Qui-Gon single. (Didn't even realize that he had a theme until I listened to it!)

Thanks for compliments. TPM is probably my favorite suite as well. For some reason, that one just flowed together quite effortlessly.

Wow, incredible editing on both the "A New Hope" and "OT Preview" track! I especially liked the transition from the Force theme to the Episode 6 duel. Again, just excellent work!

Thank you sir! It took quite a while to get the JEDI music tweaked to the point where it flows with the rest of the trilogy. Give the rest of the suites a listen and let me know what you think!

Seems to be working fine for me, at least in firefox. Didn't have to jump through any hoops...

I was attempting to download them via Opera so under your recommendation I flipped over to Firefox and the popped up like a flash so thanks for that.

I am looking forward to giving these a good listen.

My only advice in terms of doing a visual version is avoid any shots of lips moving without speach, it really breaks the mood and is visually jarring (silent movie buffs will note that silent films with spoken scenes without speach cards at regular intervals look very strange).

If you want to keep up with the action replace those shots with conceptual art matching the scene.

On a side note could you use your music editing skills to produce a couple of variations of the Anakin theme which blend in pitch, pace and with element additions of The Imperial March etc, to reflect the change from the innocent boy of Episode One to the near Vader of the middle of Episode 3 (and perhaps even a triumphant version intercut with the Force theme for Anakin redeemed)?

This came up as a suggestion in the Radical Prequel Redux thread but might also come in handy for people re-editing ROTJ.

It would also be nice to have a longer form versions of the Imperial Motiff from ANH and the Droids motiff from ESB (two musical elements which sadly were not revisited in later films).

Thanks for the suggestions. I am sticking to using each film's music for each film's suite. The Imperial Motiff you mention from ANH is actually the Rebellion Motiff, if I remember. The best place that theme was expanded in was the assault on the blockade runner. I tried to create some form of an extended theme, but there wasn't enough variety to create a suitable theme. Unless, of course you are referencing the Death Star motiff, which also doesn't have enough out there to create a theme.

And finally, as for the incredible Droid Motiff from Empire, it has to be one of my favorite themes that isn't really fleshed out, kind of like the Qui-Gon theme from Menace. While I was able to create a nice theme for Qui-Gon, there once again isn't enough Droid motiff in the film, let alone including Jedi to make anything substantial.

I like your ideas about Anakin's theme, and I would love to hear a new triumphant version, but no original music exists to do that. It would certainly be cool, though.

Okay, Rob...

Here's the single for ANHv2, along with a special bonus track. Enjoy

I also re-uploaded all the files. Let me know if there are any problems.

I assume I will have to register to obtain these sets as I just get to a generic page everytime.

If you click the FREE USER button, it will take you to the download page. Ignore the advertisements, but watch the countdown in big bold letters. When the countdown ends, a download button will appear. Click and the download commences.

Sorry for the stupidity of RapidShare, but its the easiest thing to use.

Hi all...

The v2 is a rework for lossless audio and a remaster of missing music and the OT soundtracks.

I've been meaning to re-up all the missing audio links, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. I will be working on that soonly-ish. I just have had a hell of a year. I moved, changed work, and we had our first child in December.

The good news is I think I have ANHv2 close to finish. A few edits need some assistance. Hopefully I'll get around to do an ANH Single here, including an OT preview, with a drastically improved ROTJ sound.

Thanks to those that love this work. If anyone wants to make the music video for this, I'd love it...but I have no real time to devote to it. Have I ever told anyone I live and work with my wife in a group home? Yeah...that should answer those questions about time.

Not to continue the "change-a-thon" but most certainly, I've always been annoyed at the scene in TESB when the falcon does a flip around the cloud and heads back to get Luke, the cloud in the fore ground wasn't matted properly and the falcon is in front of the cloud when it actually should be behind it.

Anyone remember or notice what I'm talking about?

Okay...

I've tried three times, now. The first was made burning the folders directly with nero, the last two were using a new ISO one with and one without the seemless layer option.

granted, it's an aggravating issue....but have you burned DL media before?
because this might impact any future burns you do..

finally, depending on where you are...can someone else burn the files
for you, or do you want a copy sent to you in the meantime?

Thanks for everyone's help.

I downloaded DVD Identifier and found that Dynex media was the crap people were talking about on DVDRhelp.com.

I was able to take back the media and return in. Someone sent me a copy...and it plays beautifully.

I have burned other DVDs before...not DL, but regular DVDr or +r and it works fine. I think it was the media.

May Dynex burn in the netherworld.

Nothing plays through on my Pioneer DV-414. On my Panny DVD/VCR nothing plays through the layer break, but I can skip a head and back it up to watch the rest of the film.

I am using Dynex DVD+R DL media (its all that was available when I went to the store, DL media is hard to come by).

My DVD Drive is a TSSTcorpCD/DVDW TS- L 532M

I have no firmware updates available. If I can find some other media, I'll try that, but I'm pretty upset. I guess I'll have to use the DVD-5.

I'm assuming its a player compatibility, although reports online are that my player should read DL +R fine.

Y'know...

One thing in the novel that I always miss from the film is when Luke falls away from Vader at the end of the duel, Vader held him in that space, and then let him drop...it showed Vader 'letting' Luke go.

But I'm not sure if that was filmed or not.

Also, in that scene where Vader tempts Luke, any chance you can fix his helmet from blowing / wobbling around in the wind? That always annoied the hell out of me!

It was the latest demonoid release, the ISO with the zipped fix folder. I unzipped the folder and put it in the VIDEO_TS. It plays great on my computer...

...I used Nero to burn.

ok. well try running it through pgcedit first and create a new iso. If pgcedit reports any errors then make a note of them and i'll see if i can help. Also use imgburn to burn the iso. This keeps the layer break exactly the same (which should be cell 28). it is more compatible with set-top players than Nero (different versions of Nero are producing different results).

Thanks, I had no trouble with pgcedit. When I tried using IMGBURN, it errored saying:

Finalize Disc Failed!

Reason: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatable Format.

Huh...I'm using the same medium I used burning to nero. Any help here would be hot.

So....would not selecting the option for the seamless layer break help?

So...

My newly burned DVD 9 crashes at the layer change. Any help?

It shouldn't be my player, its a Pioneer DV-414 and it is reported at www.videohelp.com to play DVD+R DL.

I could skip past the layer on my other DVD / VCR player, but that one has a real crummy picture, even being progressive scan. The colors end up saturated and the image artifacts like crazy, so I'm not real thrilled.

What's the DVD 5 look llike?

I was really impressed with the first part of the film, though! Nice work Ady...
