Team Negative1 - The Empire Strikes Back 1980 - 35mm Theatrical Version (Released)
Time

We are only releasing Grindhouse versions of Empire Strikes Back, because we had them available, and it was not our main focus.

The prints of Return of the Jedi are already in very good shape, so no point in releasing those.

Also, our main focus is Star Wars, so there won't be any early releases of that either.

Their might be some Grindhouse releases after the main version, however, there are samples of Star Wars out to experiment on.

team negative1 - star wars 1977 - 35mm theatrical version (Released)
Time

We're posting a clip from Reel 4 for you to experiment on. It is 11 min, 500 megs MP4, 6k bitrate.

- Uncropped

- Unstabilized

- No color correction (Red faded)

- Original dirt and scratches

- Warping

- Tears

- Some visible effects shots

- No sound

- Header and tail included

This is for people to play around with, and see if they can recover information from it.

We recommend recoloring the scenes using a different source, as these are too faded to really restore.

Details, and links at reddit under AMPSdeux.

These are not meant to be watched as is. They are mostly for experimentation, and modifying on a computer. Its simple to put them in letterboxed formats, as some people will do that.

Viewing them on a Ultra Widescreen or 21:9 monitor allows for easier fullscreen with nearly the correct theatrical aspect ratio.

Idea & Info: Star Wars Deleted Scenes - Reincorporated?
Time

We have some footage from an earlier project that the previous member, -1 did for Star Wars :

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/star-wars-evolution-the-evolution-of-video-formats/topic/13546/

That might be continued.

Also someone else started an extended version:

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Star-Wars-Extended-Edition/topic/16611/page/2/

Finally, we're thinking of making a 'Super Grindhouse' version of Empire Strikes Back with the deleted scenes, but no clean up, since they work better without it.

Team Negative1 - The Empire Strikes Back 1980 - 35mm Theatrical Version (Released)
Time

Each release has served a different purpose.

The Grindhouse is the most advanced version using the best reels and parts and extensive color cleanup.

The DCP was the previous version used for projection.

This RAW version is for archival purposes and experimentation for those that want to play around with fixing the various issues. Also included is a different color corrected version with more saturated colors and some minor cleanup done on it.

We are almost ready for a release shortly. Here are some details:

==========================================

March 2015,

Here is an archive of original scan of the first print we had.

There are 2 versions included here:

2 720p Color corrected Version

Also included are several comparisons of different prints,

using selected reels:

----------------------------------------------------------

1 - 2 prints [original and partial Fuji]

2 - 3 prints [original, Eastman, and Fuji]

3 - 4 prints [of reel 3]

The first can be used as a reference version, although a

small segment of Reel 2 has been inserted.

This is for people to see the origin of our scans, and

how some of it was used for the Grindhouse version.

You can experiment with fixing it, and to see a color reference,

we have included a 720p downscale also.

Your list is very accurate. However, Reels 5-6, were not Fuji, but Eastman from the first print used in the DCP and Grindhouse versions.

Not sure which reels were Eastman/Fuji in the mixed print.

Reel 3 was fairly damaged from the first print, and replaced with another incomplete Eastman version.

Some of the first print has disintegrated due to aging, however Reels 1 and 3 have survived.
