V’GER WANTS TO DATE A CARBON UNIT
V’GER WANTS TO DATE A CARBON UNIT
I remembered it pretty well, though I hadn’t heard it in a while.
New image to edit into duplicate posts: yay or nay?
I logged into my dad’s computer looking for a specific file (long story). I didn’t find it, but here are some highlights of names of the files I did find.
“Islam vs infidels.docx”
“SATAN’s meeting and plans.docx”
“Second Coming of Jesus.html”
“Iraqui war.docx”
“SPAMMED:I Nearly Sold Your Son For.docx”
I would like to request further information on that last entry if you do not mind… 😉
As far as I could tell, it was text copy/pasted into a MS Word document from a chain e-mail at least 16 years old. It had something to do with a bus driver almost selling Jesus for a quarter… or something.
Not to mention that most Protestant denominations just don’t have that much to offer in comparison to the Catholic Church. They don’t have the Eucharist (or most of the other sacraments), the tradition, the depth of theology, the saints, or any number of the things that set the Church apart and make it so incredibly rich.
I’m not sure which denominations (if any) don’t have Communion, but mine certainly does. Whether it is bread and wine or unleavened cracker and grape juice, or if it uses intinction (dipping the bread into the wine) or not, or having individual breads/crackers and cups, is irrelevant. It’s the symbol that is important.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think Ric’s point is that, to Catholics, it’s more than a “symbol.”
Random thoughts on political themes of sports movies?
MU was average. Better than Cars 2 (low bar) not as good as Cars 3 or Finding Dory.
Please. MU was a lot of fun. Cars 3 was barely better than 2 for most of its runtime.
Ok.
Yes.

That’s… a take.
I’m not sure how controversial that is. Most people would agree 3 isn’t all that great and is towards the bottom of the Pixar barrel.
Sure. All the Cars movies are lesser Pixar. 3 is still better than 2 by a country mile.

It left you with a feeling of emptiness?
Do you not like it as a song or does the sappiness get to you or both?
Cantinas don’t even necessarily serve food! Wrong subforum!
“Iraqui”?
His filename, not mine.
Annihilation (2018)
Was it good? I only ask because I only watched it based on some word of mouth I heard (probably here) saying it was really good. It was good. But I’m a bit surprised at the praise.
I generally agree. Also, the book is better.
I’m not usually one to ask this, but I do wonder why the story required the team to all be women. Maybe I missed something.
I don’t remember if the movie mentioned it, but in the book it’s said that all previous expeditions were exclusively men so they made this group exclusively women to see if that variable would change anything.

Kenner cosplay.
I’m just waiting for aliens to show up and we change our dating system to Before/After Contact. With the year of contact itself being zero, of course.
I just say “fella.”
Welcome back, Post.
I don’t get enough sleep at night, but I make up for it by getting too much sleep in the afternoon.

Reminder that Sarah Sanders had to grow up to be awful somehow.
Blech. I hate being reminded of that guy, not only as the former governor of my state, but because his cousins used to be my neighbors so I’m only two Kevin Bacons from him.
Don’t some Tarantino movies have several mentions of the word? And he’s still a Film Bro Favorite, so I doubt it.
The Shape of Water is actually the only Del Toro film I’ve seen, and I thought it was delightful. YMMV, but I found it to be a gorgeous celebration of being “other”.
Dude. Pan’s Labyrinth. Get on it.
I’m waiting for the next Criterion flash sale.
