noone
I vote that we get rid of minutes and just call the time between noon and one “noone”.

Is it even anime? I was just making a joke about that previous discussion. Chill out.
Lol, no it’s American and was originally made in English. Japan didn’t even get the movie at all until a few years after the US and UK.
Most recent buys were Captain America: Civil War and (ordered online, scheduled to arrive Thursday) The Transformers: The Movie 30th Anniversary Edition. Neither are steelbooks, since I rarely get those (plus the Transformers steel doesn’t have the reversible cover like the standard blu does).
There were only ever two possible outcomes for a sequel trilogy.
Either Lucasfilm was going to figure out a way to set it within the continuity of the EU (in which case Chewie would be long dead and the ending would neccessarily allow for the Legacy comics to still happen a hundred years later), or they were going to completely start over per George’s wishes.
I never understood why people thought something like a Thrawn Trilogy adaptation was a possibility for the ST. The mere fact that the story would be spoiled already was reason enough for it to stay off the table as an option.
I think straight to DVD cartoon adaptations of EU material a la DC Comics animated movies would be a good idea (especially if they could get Hamill to at least voice Luke), but the idea of them ever doing a live action EU-based movie was always silly to me. Even when I was a little kid I knew that there was no chance of an eventual live action sequel movie being based on the book canon. I hardly ever read SW books but I knew from a friend who’d read quite a few that the canonicity was ridiculous.
Until Rogue One comes out, I’ll remain a binitarian, thank you very much.
Are you that confident in R1?
I like to think of things in different levels. If you adhere to the original movie being it, that really doesn’t fit in with the idea of canon so here is how I look at it.
OT - Platinum Canon
OT & PT - Gold Canon
OT, PT, & ST - Silver Canon
OT, PT, ST, Rogue One, Clone Wars & Rebels - Bronze Canon
OT, PT, ST, Rogue One, Clone Wars, Rebels, Novels & Comics - Participation Award Canon
I’d just like to say that several members here that I used to hold much respect for are now on a mental list of members I hold with moderate to extreme disdain, due to there unreasonable statements regarding Japanese animation, which I find are extremely insulting to many people. Just to be specific, I refer mainly to the members TV’s Frink, Tyrphanax, and suspiciouscoffee.
Even Silver Wook has stated his dislike of such posts that starting spilling out of members somewhat recently.
I don’t care what anyone else’s opinions are for the most part. I can’t tell anyone what to think, and I don’t want to. If someone wants to be a fool, then I’ll let them be a fool, as long as they aren’t directly hurting others.
I just find these opinions being voiced in such harsh manners to be insulting, and would like to ask that such members (and anyone else I may have forgotten to list) refrain from continuing the redundant and useless statements regarding Japanese animation.
I’m sure many of you can sympathize with this thought, as many members here quickly got tired of hearing many harsh statements regarding TFA after its release earlier in the year.
I find that this is an even worse situation than that (especially considering that I personally thought TFA moderately sucked), because rather than voicing specific opinions about one particular film (even if unreasonable), these members are voicing almost completely unreasonable opinions (while stating them as facts) about an entire subsection of an entertainment media.
I’m mostly joking when I say it. I have several friends irl that are fans of various animes and I make the same jokes. Usually they laugh it off. I guess it doesn’t work as well in the typed form as it does in person. I shall refrain from making further comments on the matter of anime as I have recently.
Canon is a lie, given that it’s all entirely fictional anyway. Unlearn what you have learned.
Jesus that’s a stupid article.
Ignoring the anime angle (which is used like a high school essay intro), the thing is written at about an eighth grade level.
Journalism is dead.
So the anime comparison is the best part of it? I’m scared to click the link to find out.
I tried to write out a long and complicated fan theory, but I wound up disagreeing with myself. Whoops.
What was it?
Long story very, very short;
The Force Awakens is a sort of meta-commentary on the franchise as a whole. Rey is all the young, new fans who were introduced to SW by TFA, Maz Kanata is a levelheaded fan whose been around a while, Kylo is a crazy fanboy, Han is George Lucas, Luke is Star Wars itself.
Haha Kylo Ren is a pissy TFN type. Or wait, if Han is Lucas, then Kylo Ren is… us?
Yeah the TFN type is what I had in mind until I realized him killing Han made him us. Maybe he’s just the worst of us, like ImpScum.

Anime: trash
Transformers: not trash (cheesy and immature at worst)
Therefore, Transformers is not Anime.
First:
Saw teasers for some new movie on twitter. Thought they looked cool. Looked up movie. Adaptation of an anime. Apparently just translating an anime into a non-anime medium is all it takes to elevate it from total trashiness.Hahaha… wait. That’s not funny. Was that a joke?
Nay.
I wasn’t aware that Transformers The Movie was so important.

It’s very important, because it’s an anime.

It really wasn’t until it was disappearing everywhere before I could get it.
Second:
Why is the Tranformers: The Movie selling out/just not showing up in any stores around here?! I didn’t want to order it online and pay shipping and wait several days, but now I’ve waited longer than it would take to ship.Do Wal-Mart’s site to store. You still have to wait a few days for it to get there but you don’t have to pay the shipping. Going to the store to pick it up and having to wait in line at the service desk and listening to the people ahead of you trying to return stuff they’ve stolen is the worst part.
Last night the site said pickup was unavailable. Same goes for all other stores that offer some kind of site-to-store program. Today it seems fine, though, so I likely will do that. Thanks.

If you’re comparing Star Wars to other sci-fi films you’re making a big mistake (because it’s not sci-fi).
Yes it is.
But there is no sci to be fi’ed.
Behold! The box set only Smaug could afford.
This would go in the “If you need to b*tch” thread if I would ever want to buy this to begin with and didn’t already own all the LOTR blus I want, so I wouldn’t buy this even at a reasonable price.
Decimals are too much for me. I just use a simple x/10 system now. Anyway, this is probably the tenth ranking I’ve posted here but whatever. Here’s my biased, nostalgia blind, fanboy rating (since some people here might see me as all of the above, I’ll spare you the effort of typing it)
SW/ESB - 10/10
ROTJ/TFA - 9/10
And it’s been a long time since I’ve watched more than half of a PT film, so I’m going off of fuzzy memories here:
ROTS/TPM - 4/10
AOTC - 2/10
So here’s an update on where I am with Who. I caught up to the series a while back. I have now seen every last existing episode from the very beginning to now.
Season 9 was a real mess. Clara should have departed with Eleven. Way, way, way too much focus was placed on her for far too long.
There were multiple instances where she would have had a perfect exit from the series but he kept bringing her back. Now there’s a diner floating out there in space for some stupid reason.
It’ll be so nice to finally have Moffat out of that chair. He lost his way a while ago. Just PLEASE don’t take Capaldi with him. Man is brilliant as the Doctor but his first two seasons have let him down. He deserves a chance to really shine.
This, +1, Agreed, QFT, etc.
The prequels strike me as partially live-action animes.
So the prequels are Space Jam in Japan?
Star Wars already voted to leave the EU. I call it SWexit.
Any time I try to think of an MCU theme, by brain just turn on the X-Men theme.
