I very much agree with this.

That’s sort of what I want to do, and it would be incredibly easy to edit, except for the Vader ‘Sister’ scene. I could leave that scene as is and have Luke not want his anonymous sister to turn, but I feel like that wouldn’t be emotionally significant enough to Luke for him to snap on Vader. Luke has known and loved Leia for three movies, so there’s a little bit of emotion from the audience as well.

SORRY FOR THE REALLY LONG POST

I am uploading the preview to Mega right now. I will update this post with a link when it is finished.

JEDIT:

There are some weird audio glitches around the scene transitions. Please ignore these 😃

https://mega.nz/#!EiAy0LxD!OTvtEzldgQh52rz1TeMFR71nEJ8jseEjkRw2QmIWbu4

Keep in mind that it starts immediately after the crawl.

Changelist:

R2 and 3P0 walking towards Jabba’s palace is the first scene in the movie.

Bib Fortuna’s scene has been cut. It has always felt like padding the movie for the sake of padding. Instead we cut instantly into Jabba’s chamber.

3P0 is implied to be in on the plan by cutting his surprised reaction to Luke’s offer.

The Droid assignment scene has been cut for feeling like filler. We transition to the Emperor’s new star destroyer undergoing the very final stages of construction and Vader’s talk with Jerjerrod.

We cut back to Jabba’s palace at night with the thawing Han scene.

Luke shows up to rescue his friends with an uncut Rancor sequence.

The Sarlacc pit sequence remains unedited except for the removal of Boba Fett and trimming Luke and Han’s conversation.

//////////////////

I don’t think that this edit will contain millions of little trims, as I don’t think that it needs them. I don’t care about Salacious B. Crumb’s laughter.

Here is my summary of the film after this point:

The Rebel battle plan: Attack an Imperial shipyard with some of the Rebel fleet. The rebellion doesn’t know that the eclipse exists or that the Emperor is even there, to them it’s just another mission. In order to attack the shipyard they need the strike team to deactivate the shield generator.

When Han & Co. arrive at Endor they are surprised when they see the Executor, with Han muttering “…command ships.” Luke senses Vader’s presence.

The speederbike chase happens and the Rebels befriend the Ewoks. I really want to trim the Ewok village sequence but that would be really hard without it seeming really forced. You need the 3P0 levitating god scene and you need the campfire stories scene in order to transition into Luke and Leia scene. If anyone has any ideas on how to do this, please tell me!

Anyways, Luke meets up with Vader. Vader doesn’t talk about his master until the Stormtroopers are in the room with them, sort of implying that Vader doesn’t really care about serving his master. He also doesn’t mention it being to late to save him because it makes no sense? Vader clearly loves the darkside and why would he ever imply that he wants to return?

The rebel attack sequence is exactly the same except without the Death Star. The rebel “Pull up!” scene still happens except they are flying towards the shipyard. Oh no! It was a trap! Luke meets up with ol Palpy and the Rebels seem like they are having their asses handed to them. The guys on the ground knows this. Han and Leia are fighting next to the Shield Bunker’s door when Han says “stay here” and heads inside with a strike group of rebels WITHOUT Chewie or Leia. We cut to Han successfully planting the charges when suddenly a squadron of Imperials storms the room. “You Rebel scum.”

We see the Space battle getting desperate. Lando talks about Han needing more time. Everything is depending on Han on to blow the shield generator. We cut back to Han. His expression blank. We cut to Leia and Chewie, far away from the Shield Generator. We hear a rebel soldier saying “Has anyone seen General Solo?” We hear Leia’s comms sputter to life. “Leia… I love you”. Using an insert shot, Han presses a switch that he was holding. The charges go off, we see Han engulfed in flames. We see the shield generator explode violently. Leia looks on in disbelief, and Chewie screams. We cut to Luke looking out of the window.

We then see the finally rebels kick some Imperial ass. Some Star Destroyers start getting destroyed, perhaps even the Executor. Lando is ecstatic, unknowing that his old friend had made his ultimate sacrifice. However, this sense of victory is short-lived.

After the Emperor talks about his “Fully armed and operational battle station” we cut to the falcon flying around with a few rebel ships surrounding it when suddenly some ships crash into what seems like nothing! The massive Eclipse decloaks and begins unloading a barrage of laser fire unto Crix Madine’s battle cruiser, which is completely evpaorated. The ship decloaks before we cut to Lando and Nien Nunb being surprised. The Imperials are again shown to be gaining an advantage.

After the Emperor’s death, we see a final turning point in favor of the rebellion. After a few Rebel cruisers all focus their fire onto where they believe the Eclipse is, we see its cloaking device fail. Imperial alarms blaze throughout the destroyer. The Rebels lead by Lando enter into the Eclipse and using parts of the original Death Star interior chase the Destroyer is… destroyed. The Rebel fleet upon seeing that an extra fleet of Imperial warships has jumped into the system decide that it would be best to escape. After we see the Rebels fly away we see a lone Imperial shuttle jump away into a seemingly random direction.

The Rebel fleet regroups somewhere on the edges of space. Ackbar gives a rousing speech to the rest of the rebellion. We see Leia in the bridge of their own cruiser. There is always hope.

We then cut to Vader’s pyre, which then leads us into the credits.

If anyone has any suggestions I am willing to hear it.

darthrush, if it’s okay with you, can I just copy paste the Jabba section from your v3 edit into mine? I would give proper credit.

JEDIT II: Nevermind. I will take heavy inspiration but I won’t directly copy.

I don’t know why I said I would cut it down to 20 minutes.

JEDIT: And I don’t know about making it a different planet. Recoloring everything would look phony I think and I would have to rotoscope both r2 and 3po.

I won’t begin the movie with Luke being on Dagobah. I’ve never had a problem with Luke being a badass at Jabba’s palace, but thank you for your support!

JEDIT: Here’s another shot from the Endor reveal:

JEDIT II: Gosh, I’m just so happy about how the actual look of The Eclipse turned out! The model is actually of a Sovereign-class Star Destroyer if anyone’s interested.

Random Ideas:

Lift the Hyperspace ramming concept from The Last Jedi and have the Executor kamikaze the Eclipse after some sort of engine failure/malfunction.

Reinstate the droids motif from Empire. Does anyone know all of the tracks that the motif appears in?

JEDIT: I’ve also got the first and third paragraph of the crawl done but I have no idea what to put in the second one.

The alliance is doomed.
After the destruction of the
Rebel base, the Empire has declared
martial law throughout the galaxy.

???

Luke Skywalker has returned to
his home planet of Tatooine in
an attempt to rescue his
friend Han Solo from the
clutches of the vile gangster
Jabba the Hutt…

The Disaster Artist (2017)

8/10

When I watched The Disaster Artist the theater messed up and started projecting the wrong movie. At first I thought that James Franco had made a really shitty fake movie just to extend the moral of “follow your dreams” but after a few minutes the theater realized that it was actually a real movie. I searched it up on IMDB while waiting for the theater to fix it and it had less than 10 reviews.

The movie looked like it was shot for 10 dollars, too.

I much prefer the Legends design of the Eclipse. The curve is the part that’s really missing from this one.

I think this one is better. The curve made it feel like a PT ship imo. The sharp edges of this model reinforce the Empire’s sinister presence. I guess there’s two sides to everything.

Agreed.
