Don’t some Tarantino movies have several mentions of the word? And he’s still a Film Bro Favorite, so I doubt it.

I can’t think of a movie of his without the word! Django Unchained uses it 110 times! It’s just most of his movies take place in olden times or in a dirty crime world, so it’s not unexpected for the word to be used. I have seen people accuse Tarantino of being racist though.

The Godfather (1972)

It was pretty good, even though I think Michael’s turn was a little sudden.

8/10

Back to the Future (1985)

The only real negative I can think of is some of the on the nose jokes. Other than that it’s a blast!

9/10

Blade Runner 2049 (2017)

I really loved it. I loved how it was shot, and I loved how it didn’t spell things out for you.

9/10

Has anybody ever made a movie that intentionally links up perfectly with Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon?

If I ever made a movie, I would do that. I’d edit it to an Edgar Wright/Baby Driver level where every beat matched up with something. The catch would be that I would never tell anybody, I’d leave it a secret. Maybe put a DSotM poster in the background somewhere. Some stoner would freak the fuck out years after the movie’s been made. That’s when I’ll know I’ve made it.

A big problem with Episode I is how its plot feels inconsequential to the overall trilogy, and the setup is very boring.

The Trade Federation has slowly been taking control of the frontier worlds on the edge of the Galaxy. These worlds are too small and out of the way for the Republic Senate to care.

When the Trade Federation attacks Naboo, a big player in the Senate, this is seen as a declaration of war with the peaceful Republic.

In the ten years between films, multiple clone wars have been fought against the Trade Federation, who have now become the Separatist Alliance.

Episode II’s opening bombing could be recontextualized to be the Separatists’ first attack on the capital, showing that they are becoming a much larger threat. Padme was specifically attacked because she was the ruler of Naboo during the first film.

This would also add a motif to the trilogy of revenge.
