Literally 15 minutes later:

Anakin slaughters the Jedi, including defenseless toddlers

This is the biggest logic leap in the entire franchise, and it completely ruins the rest of the movie for me.

It’s because he’s a funnier character than we’ve ever had in any of the other movies.

Yeah, both sequels copy moments from the first, but it’s not a very serious series in the first place so I don’t mind. Also, it was a blast reliving something I haven’t seen since I was a little kid (all I remembered was Marty going back in time and seeing the natives.)

Had a lot of pretty good moments but a tasteless sex scene and overly edgy main character brought it down.

Back to the Future Part III (1990)

It’s not great, but it sure is a lot of fun. The love story was the weakest part.

It’s a well made review, except I fundamentally disagree with almost everything he’s decided about the movie.

The only bad part of that scene is the added V.O of Palpatine.

Unpopular opinion:

Battle of the Heroes is a fine song, but it’s too bombastic and out of tone for the scene it’s in.

Kevin Smith’s weight loss is INSANE.

Supposedly Watto’s accent is ‘Italian’

Oh yeah, I somehow forgot about Watto. He’s the worst stereotype in the movie!

I hope the resistance is literally ‘herding nerfs’ in this movie.

Despite all that, and despite it’s insignificance to the greater Star Wars saga, I still think that the Phantom Menace is the most watchable movie in the prequel trilogy.
