Can;t recall which page exactly, but there are two different (but very similar) disc artworks in this thread.

IIRC Ady said he'd put up (or include?) HIS version of artowrk with the DVD9, but for the DVD5 the artwork already up (Red holo image of the Death Star) is pretty groovy.

I did see that OBtwosy was going to create some art with the red holo, and then Ady posted a low res version of his (which was the same concept), but I haven't seen anyone post a hi-res version. I've searched, but didn't see it... maybe I missed it?
If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be spiffy!

I just picked up a Ventura HD-DVD (just for testing purposes. the thing is going back on Monday) player from our local QVC store for £50 and it plays fine. It has already been reported that the PAL version plays fine on a PAL Toshiba DVD player But not the original NTSC DVD which completely rules out any problem with the authoring as both use the same program and template. The "Repack" NTSC used the PAL template modified for NTSC which now rules out the Encoding. It will be interesting to find out if the new NTSC plays in PAL HD-DVD players. I do have one last idea though. Use DVDSHRINK and strip just the main movie and burn to disc and see if that plays. If that fails then i'm afraid you're out of luck.

Ady, I think you've done more than enough to try to get this to work. As much as I'd love to watch it with my Toshiba, it just doesn't seem to be the case and I've figured out a workaround.

No worries for us few Toshiba HD-DVD folks!

I haven't done a comprehensive search, but I did have a quick look and I didn't find any... I know he's packed the disc pretty full so maybe not on the 5 but on the 9? This is all just speculation, of course...

so far there have been 2 done to and released to my knowledge. One by Savage and one by OBtwosy. You can get both on the fanedit.org page for this edit.

Yes, I have OBtwosy's fantastic cover art, but disc art hasn't been released yet (as far as I've seen, at least). I know Ady was working on one and someone else was also...?

It's funny, I always took that to be on purpose. I always thought of it as, he's been through so much that he's been rebuilt quite a few times and at some point, there wasn't a gold leg available so silver had to do...

That is correct.....I have tested with NTSC 360, PS3, Sony Upconvert, Toshiba Upconvert, & my 3 Toshiba HD-DVD players.

Problem only exists on the 3 HD-DVD players.

So I guess consensus is, Toshiba blows...

That really sucks. I was hoping to show off for to my friends. Oh well. I guess I'll figure something out.

Hey hempler, You and me, we sit in the same boat...

Did you try Ady's suggestion of changing dvd player output to 60fps? I'm still at work (yes, working hard!) and would love to know if that helps at all...

This does sound like the problem you are having

I hadn't seen that option, but will definitely try it out.

Vbangle, I understand some people have issues with the quality of discs, but I have not had any issues with any other burns of fan edits (or any other ISOs) prior to now. For a great project like this, I made sure to use the best media available.

Ady, I'll let you know if the output setting change works! Thanks for doing such great work!

I'd still like to figure out the problem the HD-DVD players are having with the movie though. Was it the NTSC versions that were causing the problems? And has anyone had any problems in other players? I'd like to get this issue resolved for the DVD-9

I am actually wondering if hempler is playing the NTSC version as well.

I have the NTSC version. Basically, when it is playing, the timing counter stops counting, then the disc freezes about 5-10 seconds later.

There is a lag in the transition from the Adywan logo to the main title screen of the menu.

On the main menu title, it freezes right after "A NEW HOPE REVISITED" appears, and doesn't transition to the menu screen. From there, none of the menu transitions advance correctly. They all freeze, and I have to scan forward to get it to move.

When playing the movie, it runs fine until 2min, 13sec and the freezes. If I scan forward a little, the movie actually jumps back a few seconds and then starts playing. It will play for anywhere between 10 seconds and 1 minute, and then freezes again.

The sign that it is going to freeze is the time stops running forward. I haven't had the chance to see what it is doing with the bitrate, and if that has anything to do with it. Honestly not sure how I would be able to tell, but I am happy to collect as much data as possible to let you know.

Just to make sure, I have updated the firmware and it still happens, so that's not the problem.

Any other info I can provide, please let me know.

Sorry that you are having problems playing the DVD in your HD-DVD players. I don't know what make those players are but if its Toshiba then i can understand the problem. i had a Toshiba DVD player that was very picky on not only media but also the bitrates during playback. the NTSC DVD-5 has a lower bitrate on the menus and special features than its PAL counterpart. This was unavoidable or the NTSC version would have had only a couple of the special features that were featured on the PAL disc. But that doesn't explain why you are having problems playing the movie. But it seems to be HD-DVD players that are having this problem, and only certain models. I'm just glad i went with bluray

Since I am having the problem in the same exact spot as was previously mentioned, I don't think it has to do with the media, but it may be a bitrate issue (it is the NTSC version that I have, not sure about anyone else that may be having issues with HD players)... I've never had problems playing burns on the A3 before now, and this is NOT the disc to start with!

With the news that Toshiba is out of the HD hardware game, I guess we'll all be going blu-ray soon enough.

I guess I'll have to break out the old dvd player (or buy an upconverter)...

It locks up in the menus during the transitions and at 0:02:13 of the movie....once it locks up the first time it then locks up every few seconds.....scan forward a little and then it locks up again.

I have tried turning off all of the upconversion and such but no luck.

I have an HD-A30, HD-A20, & an HD-A2.

The only one it works on is the A2.......and also the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and the regualr Upconvert DVD player my Son uses. I like to test on many machines bucause I give copies to friends and like to tell what it will work on.

I have the Toshiba HD-A3 and I am getting the same problem...

It looks and sounds absolutely beautiful, though!

It depends on your usenet hosting service. You may want to refresh your headers so that you're getting the latest posts.

newsgroups can be a little confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's actually pretty easy.

Because there were a few fixes that needed to be done to the PAL, it seems that gave him enough time to do the NTSC encode, so it is going up at the same time. About 1/4 of it is already up at a.b.starwars.

@sevb32 - perhaps you could have just said - "I don't think that's him."

Agreed. I hadn't found him yet and was looking forward to watching it again so I could hunt. SevB32, you really should think about being more considerate to the other board members.
