Just a quick remark: you should ask someone to read your opening crawl next time 😃 (“seperatist”).

And it seems there is the same technical issue present on your other episodes, some kind of frame slow-down in speed for transitions wipes. I don’t know if it’s intentional or an editing issue (i.e. something you can’t correct).

edit: a little bit more important: I’m afraid you’ve made an error when you’ve imported the 5.1 audio track:

  • channel 1 is front left
  • channel 2 is front right
  • channel 3 is center
  • channel 4 is the basse (0.1)
  • channel 5 is rear left
  • channel 6 is rear right

I think you’ve interverted 2/3 and 4/5.

The frame slow down in some of the wipes is intentional. Its usually when I’m creating a transition between 2 separate stories. The cuts are often too abrupt, so I have to slow the speed down slightly to create a wipe.

As for the channels, I’ve just checked and you’re absolutely right.
I work with the standard channel set up in Final Cut Pro and I have the audiobars visible whilst editing, so they are definitely correct, however, Compressor has exported the channels in the L C R Ls Rs LFE order. How bizarre.

Quick update on this. Life has been pretty busy the last few months but I’ve finally broken the back of this. Just need to manufacture 2 scenes to help link the 2 separate storylines together. The rest is done.

Here are a few clips

  1. Showing how I’ve cut out most of “Voyage of Temptation” to speed up the first act.

  1. This shows how I’ve intercut Duchess of Mandalore and Senate Spy

https://vimeo.com/164759796

  1. Here I’ve intercut Legacy of Terror and Brain Invaders so that the 2 episodes occur simultaneously.

I’m now working on the trailer.

Looking forward to it.

Any news on the BD for episode II?

BD is all done, just haven’t sent the DLC to .info yet! If you want it PM me your email.

I may go straight through with episode 4 as it’s mostly already done, but I’m going to be really busy at work for the next 9 months. Definitely taking a break after 4. Might do a Rebels movie!

Interesting. I think it makes sense to cut off the story rather than require it to be completed in the comics. And in fact, hopefully your series will end more subplots than the TV series did, in general.

I must say I would be impressed if you managed to cut out all of the spider body stuff. But I'm sure it will work well however you do it.

I've cut as much of that out as I can, but unfortunately some of it has to remain otherwise the story doesn't make sense.

This is probably getting way ahead of ourselves. But seeing your recent review on fanedit, where someone expressed excitement to later see how you handle the Darth Maul storyline had me thinking. *Do* you plan on including the Maul storyline (with SpiderMaul et al?)

Absolutely. I've already done a first cut of episode 5, which will include the first half of the Darth Maul storyline. My current plan is to have it implied that Sidious kills him off at the end of the Sidious/savage/maul duel at the end of episode VII.
