The Clone Wars: Refocused [COMPLETE]
Time

Here’s an explanation for why I think 2 is better than 3. Yoda’s narration feels much like a book’s prologue, and the scene in the office much like a Chapter 1.

Version 2 goes: prologue, title card, Chapter 1, etc…

Version 3 goes: prologue, Chapter 1, title card. For me, this is just awkward.

Thematically, I believe you get the same impact as you’re looking for with the DFR title coming after a close up of Anakin either way.

First, let me say that your 2.0 is fantastic. It has me very excited to see how the rest of the polishing pass goes.

With regard to the opening, might I suggest an in-between option. I understand wanting it to feel “connected” to the rest of TCW:R. In my opinion, the D+ style opening and the Mando-stylized credits sufficiently make the episode feel as a part of the whole already. I’d agree the episode works better with Yoda’s narration at both the front and back.

I would vote to have the D+ “faces” intro go into the episode itself with Yoda’s first narration (with no exposition text other than the Title card). I believe that would make it feel like a part of the overall TCW:R (which is is) while also feeling unique on its own (which 03 Clown Wars was/is)

I’ve had the chance to watch just a bit and look through the tracker again and here are some thoughts that I have.

I’m about halfway through your S1E0, and I must say I absolutely love how you’ve reordered the 03 Clone Wars. The earlier introduction of the villains’ training is fantastic. Having said that, the television aspect ratio feels out of place to me as I’m used to seeing the show remade with a traditional cinematic aspect ratio. Would that be something you would consider as you revisit your earlier seasons? I know you’ve said at one point in the thread you weren’t able to render with NJ’s sources, but I could probably take a crack at it if you’re interested in such a change.

For the film, I certainly agree the Hutt storyline is the weakest part and agree that it’s more or less just unusable. But I’m also really used to TCW starting off as a “film” in some way. I noticed on the tracker you have ?’s for future use of Cat & Mouse and Hidden Enemy. Any thoughts for using part of those to booster the front end more and have a single longer film to start (I apologize if this had been discussed earlier in the thread).

Other than that, I’ve just been slowly going back through the thread and trying to see the thought process behind the work so far. The attention to detail is fascinating man. Keep up the great work.
