Random thought, but I actually like Maul being included other than his eyes. Something about them is too… ghostly I guess? I’d say try a shot with him as the only “real” face if the spooky eyes can be unspooky’d.

Thematically, I’d point out Eddie’s small edit of rebels to tie up Mauls story, plus George wanting Maul to the the big bad of his sequel trilogy, as to why Maul deserves to be in the lineup.

Jedit: oh, as for quality itself. If you told me it was the new faces sequence for new animated show whichever on D+, I’d believe it.

I would say to put the Ahsoka/Plo flashback scene at the end of her first TOTJ episode. I remember when I learned the first episode would be Ahsoka’s homeworld, I thought “oh Filoni is obviously going to show his favorite Jedi Plo Koon discovering his pride and joy Ahsoka in that” and it just doesn’t have mention of him at all.

Anyways, all that to say I do think that scene should be plucked out and used, but I’d vote for it to be inserted chronologically.

I think those all sound extremely awesome. I’m already a huge fan of how you’ve restructured the show to be more serialized throughout. Honestly, my only complaint would be “I wish it was big movie cuts instead” and then you come out with these ideas. I’m a big fan of NumeralJoker’s work in recutting TCW into movie edits based on the original arcs, and I’ve wondered what could be done with TCW:R as well.

As for the movie ideas themselves, they all sound fantastic. I could easily see that being my most preferred way of experiencing TCW. Great ideas Eddie.

If you could have the audio fade out as it wipes, it might help it feel like her dialogue is meant to “trail on” as opposed to it just ending in the middle.

I’ve seen that clip, I don’t expect to use it though, mostly because I won’t have a place in the narrative for it. But if one becomes apparent, then sure!

Just spitballing, but you could use a few flashes from it as a “vision” when Ashoka is on the ship bridge and sense’s Anakin’s fall. Something like: she’s holding at her forehead, a few flashes of the duel in TCW style (maybe with Latner’s “what have I done” in place of Duel of the Fates from the video) and then back to when she whispers Anakin’s name.

Really, I never really have feedback to give because I see any change you make as just you executing your vision for TCW:R so there’s nothing for me to critic at least. I just find the process fascinating to watch.

Forgive my ramble for a moment please. I’ve always thought the best Jar-Jar scene in the movie is when he’s talking with Padme while they stare out the window. “Gungans getting pasted to eh?” He’s empathizing with her and the viewer can sympathize with that. But he’s still not really doing anything in that scene. He doesn’t even actually suggest using the Gungan army. Just a casual comment from him. Still, he’s talking to her, he’s feeling for the people, it’s an okay scene.

The worst scene (for me) is him randomly stealing the bbq from the vendor and just tries to whistle it off. Where the hell did that come from? Just what?

Giving him agency (if I’m understanding Eddie correctly) would be making what is there of him more like example one and less like example two.

First of all, hell yeah!

I think you can solve both issues (fan-edify-ness and the lack of Anakin’s reaction) by moving the start/stop later. Have Jinn begin speaking (your final test…) while Anakin is flipping buttons -> cut to him meditating-> “trust in the force…”

I feel it would be more visually appealing to see that it’s him talking to Anakin as opposed to just hearing it (which I think would help mask the edit-nature) and allows for Anakin to react offscreen since we’re looking back at Jinn anyways.

It’s almost crazy that wasn’t the ending to begin with. It makes perfect sense to frame it like that. And finally would “justify” why Maul just stands there like an idiot being jumped over.

Just chiming in to say I’d prefer seeing the Malevolence fire it’s weapon. I don’t think the threat of failure at the end is felt as well without seeing the weapon at the start. And I personally don’t think the weapon itself is particularly cheesy anyway.

If you’re open to suggestions, what originally drew my attention looking through IFDB was that you included bits from Maul: Apprentice. One of my biggest takeaways once I was able to see it, was that you made Maul a much more threatening villain by the end. I hope those additions survive the rework.

Just a quick question: does anyone happen to have The Ancient Lore by Andreas? I’d really like to see some of the radical changes he made, but I don’t think he’s been active anywhere in some time.

Hey man! I finally got the chance to sit down and watch up until the end of your season 1. Overall, this is a million times better at getting TCW off the ground than the original. I practically never felt like any of it was “filler”.

I only gave two (and a half) critiques really. In S01E10, there is a name drop of the Twilight as being one of the only available ships. With getting the ship being cut from the movie, I thought hearing the name hear unmasks some that the season is an edit.

Oddly specific, but in the Malevolence episode, there is a scene cut to Grievous in hyperspace asking his pilot for an update. I thought the cut away after his growl to feel too abrupt. Overall, I often felt the final fade to credits to often feel sudden. Not the transition itself being too quick, but almost as if the conversation wasn’t finished yet.

Also also, I have a somewhat random suggestion. For my own convenience, I spliced together from Ep00 to Ep10 (even added Lightsaber Lost) and took out the studio into and credits (kinda how NumeralJoker did his Mando edits). Since you had made the overall season it’s own theme, I wanted to try to take it in all together. It came out at like a 6 hour cut for the 12 episodes. I actually really recommend you give it a chance in this format 😄 I thought it shows how well you’re episodes flow into each other.

This all sounds really awesome! I’d love to see your Aftermath edits when you’re comfortable sharing them.

Sorry I haven’t been able to watch that block of episodes and get some feedback yet. Been busy but that’s still on my to do list.

This was an edit I was much looking forward to. Overall, this is a fantastic edit that I think has become the new definitive way to watch ROTS.

The only feedback/suggestion I have would be: adding the alternate audio from MalaStrana in LoE. I think the added instance of clones using “General Skywalker” are notable as well as the changed music instance.

The only change I personally didn’t like was the “from my point of view” dialogue. I think the original actually flows more naturally.

I’ve been waiting for a nice block of episodes to hit v2 so I could just binge them, so I should be able to give some feedback like that. I’ll also try to watch them with my wife which would be a better “blind test” since she isn’t too familiar with TCW to begin with.

It might not be until this weekend or so, but I’ll post back here with some feedback afterwards.

Just watched the new Malevolence cut. I gotta say, it is quite clean. It really felt like it could’ve been just a “normal” episode of the show in my opinion.

Oh yeah, I like version 4 quite a lot.
