My 1997' SE laserdisc transfer set - including extras.... (Released)
Time
Ok I checked out the star wars transfer, not the whole films, but skipped through them, wow! First off, great job. I am not really that great at reviews lack of technical terms and not very good at seeing colors. My set up: Sony Hidef 57" Widescreen TV, Phillips DVD/divx Player, Yamaha Receiver, Lots of monster cable.

The Def. Collection:
I compared this to EditDroid set, the best transfer until now. The clarity of dark_jedi's is better, yes better then EditDroid. The pixilation is not as noticeable. Color wise, as stated not good at seeing colors, appears to be a little bit better then EditDroid, not as faded. My guess is this comes from the laserdisc player used, both set have no color correction, I think not sure about EditDroid's. Sound, well sounds good. A plus for me is that the output level is damn on for what official DVDs are at, at least on my set up. Edit Droids transfer requires me to turn up the volume about 15dB louder then my normal volume.

Pan and Scan
Clarity is on par with the def. col. transfer if not a tad better. But the color seems to be a little more washed out, about the same as the edit droid color. Again color is hard for me to see.

Overall these are some damn nice transfers, if not the best right now. They dont have the bells and whistles that other sets have but they do what they are intended for, that is play back Star Wars the way it was meant to be seen.

I think we are all in for a real treat when the Jedi/Fett '97 Set comes out! Way to go dark jedi!

Just had to add that this is post 420 for me, anyways back to business.

Thanks!

Not sure which news server you use but it is all still all there on giganews (that is what i use, easynews is another good one), and i think when you first sign up you can download 1gig or so for free and then cancel.
