It's a whole issue, but framed by Leia telling the story to everyone aboard the Millennium Falcon. Given the huge list of things Lucasfilm didn't want them to touch between movies, I'm amazed they got this one out.

Obi Wan does not wear robes in the actual story.

I was able to track this issue down.

It's interesting that the one Old Republic era story the old Marvel comic was able to do had Ben Kenobi in a sleek black outfit as well.

If anyone wants a read of it PM me. It was good to see Kenobi as imagined in 1979, but otherwise I thought it was a pretty uninteresting read, unfortunately.

As for what his clothes meant, I do recall reading a quote somewhere from Mark Hamill that said that George showed him that costume stating that it was representative of the Jedi garb of old.

I think the quote could be in regards to Lucas' comment to Hamill at his costume fitting "It's actually quite similar to your outfit from the first film.Just a black version that's a little bit more Jedi like."

Really? What for example?

That's why when I hear a lot of people bash the prequels because of the script, the dumming down of everything and all the CGI, etc...I'm think back to what others have said about the OT and it's not much different. I believe age has a lot to do with it.

This guy felt about the OT a lot like the adults these days feel about the prequels. It's no different....

I'm understand what you mean but I think your argument is flawed.

This is one critics negative opinion. And I'm not that naive to think his was the only one, but the overwhelming majority of opinions were positive. Not so much with the Prequels though. And I'm talking about adult critics of the time vs adult critics now.

Same with the regular audience members then vs the regular adult audience now. Of course there is exceptions to the rule like your dad in regards to the OT but that's a small minority. But there's a whole bunch of adults I know of that think the prequles are crap that would talk about the OT positively. And I'm not talking about adults who were kids at the time of the OT with rose coloured glasses on.

And don't be so harsh on Obi Wan. His character never started out that way.

You can restrict a Google search by adding site:www.starwars.com to the search field.

HTH

Yeah I already tried restricting a google search to starwars.com

From the looks of things the artcles are no longer hosted on the OS. My only hope is if someone saved the images or posted them elsewhere, I doubt it though.

It was a really good resource :(

Making of Star Wars (New Book) Discussion
Time

I've been thinking about getting this book lately, considering most of you guys here rave about it.

But I haven't seen any copies of it in bookstores near me so I'll have to order it via amazon.com.

Considering I can't flick physically flick through the pages before I purchase it does anyone know of any pictures of sample pages or would anyone be willing to take a few samples pictures with a camera of their own copy?

A big ask but it's otherwise going to be a blind buy for me.

p.s I just read the above aicn review. It has me excited to read the book.

I seriously have not come across a more non-fuctioning retarded site on the internet.

Largely in part why I don't usually visit it. That and the fact is has next to no content that interests me.

.....Ok the point of this thread, I'm wanted to check out the now infamous article on the OS published in 2006 on the changes between OOT and the SE's with comparison pics.

The old links:

SW - http://www.starwars.com/episode-iv/release/video/f20060825/index.html

TESB - http://www.starwars.com/episode-v/release/video/f20060901/index.html

ROTJ - http://www.starwars.com/episode-vi/release/video/f20060908/index.html

A search of the site results in copious amounts of links to the message boards - about as useful and welcomed as a kick to the face. The search engine used to search the site is Yahoo (along with official branding). Seriously who the hell uses Yahoo, well maybe I would if they paid me to, but the fact remains it's a rubbish search engine.

My best hope so far has been http://www.archive.org/web/web.php I can find the articles but can't see the comparison pictures.

Does any one have any help or suggestions? It will be very much appreciated by me.

I know there's extensive lists of the changes around the internet and dvdactive.com articles on the subject are quite good but I was actually hoping for the OS take on the matter.

Yet ANOTHER DVD boxed set...*sigh*
Time

I had honestly thought the Indy trilogy had only had two releases thus far, the original four disc box, and the more recent non boxed individual movies. I was kind of surprised to see this three disc box, in horribly crappy looking packaging and slimline cases of all things. LFL is really lowering their standards. The thing was still $50 buck too. By the looks of it, it ought to have been no more than $19.99.

That slimeline case boxset was release in May of this year along with the individually released dvds. It is just the individual dvds packed in a boxset and obviously slimmer cases. So yeah the reason for the price? Probably cause it's relatively new.

Luke is the only one who could do it since he used the force to guide the torpedo straight down the exhaust port into the main reactor....

Really!?

I always thought Luke used The Force to anticipate or feel when best to fire the torpedos (which was a fraction of a second) which the computer had/would have failed to do.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Just in case is wasn't clear that these are just repackaged dvd's I give you this:

From www.starwars.com

Star Wars Saga Repacked in Trilogy Sets on DVD

August 28, 2008

Returning to store shelves on November 4th are the six episodes of the Star Wars saga on DVD bundled in convenient trilogy sets. Perfect for gift-giving as the holidays approach, the Prequel Trilogy set includes Episodes I-III, while the Star Wars Trilogy includes Episodes IV-VI.

Fans who already own the prequel trilogy double-disc releases (released from 2001-2005) and the Star Wars trilogy double-disc releases (released in 2006) already have all the content that's available in this set. There's nothing new in this set you don't already have. But for friends and family still looking to fill in these gaps in their DVD collections, these sets make it easy and affordable to complete the saga.

Notice something wrong with the spines?

^^ I agree with Sluggo. I even read that post you linked to, good job.

The Force to me is like a linked network of what you'd call a living beings chi or aura. As far as tapping into the Force, add in one's third eye and some telepathy and I think that's a pretty accurate description based on the 3 films '77-'83 not counting drafts and novels (which is pretty much Star Wars to me). All that EU can die a horrible death as far as I'm concerned.

As Patton Oswalt says "I don't give a shit where the stuff I love comes from! I just love the stuff I love!"

^^ I miss Anchorhead. I haven't seen a post from him in ages.

On topic. I agree with everything said here completely.

You only get the extreme views on Star Wars because it's teh internets. My Star Wars nerd factor is amplified by this site, otherwise I spend little of my day Star Wars-ing, apart from the occassional movie viewing.

The 2008 '<strong>The Clone Wars</strong>' animated theatrical movie - a general discussion thread
Time

From the article on the previous page:

In the case of “The Clone Wars” he is financing the series himself and charging Time Warner licensing fees to distribute the film and broadcast the show. (A person with knowledge of the company’s animation operations, speaking anonymously to avoid offending Mr. Lucas, said that the earliest episodes of “The Clone Wars” probably cost $750,000 to $1.5 million each.

Definitely under 5 million. Add the cost of prints and distribution. A pretty cheap exercise.

Re: Indiana Jones -- Btw, for the record, the Indy re-release was NOT a re-release with added Indy 4 promotional stuff.

There was new legitimate making-of content (but still not the deleted scenes that they have squirreled away).

Although it was shoe-horned onto fewer discs, reviews say that the compression was done better and the image was slightly sharper in places.

It wasn't a leaps and bounds improvement over the previous box, but it was an improvement.

From dvdtalk.com http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/33191/indiana-jones-the-adventure-collection

Presented in their original 2.35:1 aspect ratios and enhanced for 16:9 displays, all three Indiana Jones films look terrific from start to finish. Please note that these appear to be the exact same transfers as those found on the 2003 boxed set...so don't expect "new and improved" and you won't be disappointed

From dvdactive.com http://www.dvdactive.com/reviews/dvd/indiana-jones-adventure-collection.html

There has been no re-restoration here; these are the exact same discs that were released way back when.

Since I made the comment about the new bonus features being promotional material for the new movie, ok I was embelishing, but I say that because it felt that way when half of the features (again embelishing) have Steven, George and the cast of Skulls sitting around on the set of Skulls talking about Indiana Jones.

But your right there are new legitimate features. Stuff I'm guessing didn't fit on the 1 disc that came in the '03 set. But never let the truth get in the way of a good complaint.

Also the menu screens are exactly the same, one thing I was hoping they would change.

edit: regarding the wall of text above me: simply don't buy it as most people won't. That will send the message louder and clearer than a small group of fans sending angry letters etc.
