Just a quick note regarding the clipping...
Well, there really shouldn't be any clipping/digital distortion, what you usually do if there are some 'outrageous' peaks is put a brickwall limiter at the end of your filter chain, it will catch anything over 0db (digital 0db) and avoid digital distortion.
Feel free to PM me if you need help with this or something.

I disagree satanika. if you just cut away stuff or compress with limiters and compressors, you're modifying that audio's dynamic range, and that's not good for an audiophile. I think that in order to avoid distortions of any kind, you should work with your data at a lower volume in the first place, by setting your filters (in this case the equalizers ABC's using) at the right volume so that we avoid clipping but just loud enough to be powerful. I've done this  several times trying to enhance some old cassette tapes.

No. I am talking about peaks that are out of the 'normal' dynamic range. And since there is already clipping, a brickwall limiter would have been the ideal way to handle it.

Were the relative levels on v1 correct? I mean, did you go over every track and set a new max. volume or turned up everything the same amount.
For example cd1 main title vs. cd2 imp. march, the imp. march should get a little more volume than the former, or??

It must be difficult to set the relative track volume for a set with so many edits as this, some tracks probably have/should have much lower volume because they weren't played as loud as others.

ABC, I'd really like to know a bit about what kind of software/hardware you use for this, editors or plugins or whatever.. Do you work with mastering professionally or are you just insanely talented? ;)

I see ady's approach like the camera shoots as natural as can with no special stylised photo effects. I just noticed that ady's version has plenty of blue in it(played wiht some sliders)

The modernize of 2004 was to set moods and situations. Tinted cyan blues was set a stylised cold environment as we see in decent movies( Michael Bay anyone?) Or with several tints manage to make the old elements blended together with no further work.

Hmm, I'm not really talking about a stylized coloring, I just believe ice masses has some blue in it.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_ice_%28glacial%29

A quick mockup.

The ice cave looks a little bleached out for my eyes, it's nice to have the snow no longer purple or blue but some of the darkness of the cave seems to be lost.

Look at the sides of the cave entrance for example.

This is rough because the images don't exactly match (so ignore the legs and the saber obviously) but I tried over laying some of the lower contrast/higher detail information of the GOUT version over the ESB: R version.

It's darker but you get some of the detail back :

Don't trust the colours of a pic posted on facebook. many times the colour has been changed of pics i have uploaded there. Not sure why it does it because it doesn't do it to them all but here is a true snapshot

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

even here the image looks a little brighter than it does on the actual video

Compacted ice will usually have a bluish look to it though I think...

As an interior shot it just seems too white to me.
