Terminator 1 & 2 Projects (Released)
Time

Wow, what an AWESOME project. I'm only watching T2 bit by bit at the moment, and the picture quality and sound quality is excellent. I'm not sure exactly what you have done with the picture, but it looks miles better than my two blu-rays that I own (I only own the Skynet edition and the first region a mpeg2 blu-ray releases), so there was quite a lot more detail in the picture in this than I have seen before. Also, the colour looks fantastic.

Of the three audio mixes, I opted to listen to the CDS mix, as I haven't really heard it for a long time. I definitely feel with the CDS mix, that I have noticed little things here and there, which I think may have been buried a little more in the later mixes. The music sounds as though it has a little bit more 'oomph' to it and is maybe clearer in parts - it seems to have maybe a bit more separation compared to the newest mixes, and maybe not quite as buried in some scenes, and I really like that!

All in all, I think Team-Blu have done a stellar job with this - this is well and truly the ultimate preservation of Terminator 2!

Thank you dark_jedi and all those involved in Team-Blu!

Oh, yeah, no doubt about that - he can watch it black and white and pan and scan too for all I care. What I'm doubting is his premise that HD video is sharper than real life is. :-D

It might be possible, if say, he has crazy high sharpness and contrast in his TV settings. You know, the type that make your eyes bleed. O_O

Ghostbusters - Criterion PCM Track (see Jonno's post; plus lots more info) (Released)
Time

Giving this thread a bump for those who wish to carry on with the discussion started in the 'Fan Edits of Other Films' section about a possible colour-correct or preservation of the theatrical colour-timing.

If anyone has the 1080i HDTV broadcast of the 1999 transfer it would be interesting to see some screenshots to compare with the 1999 DVD and blu-ray.

One thing that still intrigues me, is how the Criterion laserdisc compares to all the other releases. If anyone has that, and can post screenshots of the transfer, it would be great to see.

Because it wasn't shown like that in non-IMAX cinema, and some people don't like the shifting aspect ratio.

Besides, the BR's aren't technically OAR either, as it crops the IMAX shots to 1.78:1 when they should be 1.44:1.

Yeah the blu-ray isn't, but I think the bonus disc on the ultimate collector's edition has the IMAX scenes closer to the OAR, same with TDKR too.

It's possible the TDK blu-ray was different because the studio had someone else oversee the transfter to blu-ray. It's possible Nolan's hands were tied in this instance, and went with whatever WB wanted to do with the release. That would be my view on the difference anyway, because none of his other films look that different.

d_j would you consider doing a preservation for Stephen King's It? I'm certain there is 1080i HDTV file around somewhere.

Where?!?!?! O_O

I grabbed a 720p version of the 1080i HDTV source a number of years ago, I think it was usenet. The trouble is, the 720p file I have is quite compressed. The 1080i HDTV file would be definitely better, and I'm certain it appeared at the same time as the 720p file. Unfortunately due to my poor download speeds at the time, I only grabbed the 720p file. :(

Info & Help Wanted: is there a way to color correct the ghostbusters blu rays to look like how spook central says it should look?
Time

Well, the laserdisc I have looks closer to the blu-ray, but also the 1999 dvd in parts. I always remember Ghostbusters being quite a dark and muddy looking transfer on VHS and TV. I never got to see the 35mm print, so no idea what that would be like in comparison.

I think the 4K blu-ray is the middle ground of all the transfers, but I can understand why some people might think it is a bit too boosted in parts.

I have never seen what the criterion laserdisc transfer looks like, so that again might be different from the other formats. It would be interesting to compare if someone has it.

Someone also said they had a 1080i HDTV version of the 1999 transfer of Ghostbusters a while ago, that would be something worth preserving I think for those who prefer that colour-timing/transfer with the criterion laserdisc audio.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Ady, that CC of AOTC looks amazing.

Will this be released like your CC of TPM at some point, or this all just for Revisited stuff?

Either way, it just shows how effective a decent CC can transform the look and atmosphere of a scene tremendously.

Edit: Just noticed that some of the blasters and lightsabers seem different from the original, but its been years since I last watched AOTC so is this something new as well?
