A New Hope Script Game
Time
Leia: General Kenobi, years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars. Now he begs you to help him in his struggle against the Empire.
I regret that I am unable to present my father's request to you in person, but my ship has fallen under attack and I'm afraid my mission
to bring you to Alderaan has failed. I have placed information vital to the survival of the Rebellion into the memory systems of this R2
unit. My father will know how to retrieve it. You must see this droid safely delivered to him on Alderaan. This is our most desperate hour.
Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope.

when cutting onions, how do you prevent your eyes from watering?

There are a number of ways of doing this; one is to breathe through your mouth (your eyes water because of the strength of the odor entering your nose, this can be confirmed when smelling spicy food; the same reaction occurs).

Another popular way is using a food processor to do the work for you. It minimalizes risk of tearing but does not fully get rid of it.

you can use the puerto rican trick, too, which works! suck on ice.

THE FAN EDIT CONTEST HAS A WINNER !!! REVIEWS IN OFF TOPIC FORUM
Time
Here are my scores, as promised. it is now time for the backlash.

btw, i will give more details, if you'd like. just ask.

----------------

OT.Com Fan Edit Grading Scale

Please grade on scale of 0-100 on each category. Final Score is the average of the categories.

Name of Film and Editor: ADM's Ep 1

Video (anamorphic, clean picture, etc): 90

Audio (clean sound, extra dubbings clean, etc): 90

Extras (bonus materials, commentary, etc): 0

(Multiply Score By Two) Edit (innovation, editing style, etc): 150

Divide by 5 to get the Final Score: 66

Additional Comments: Edit was very clean, but at parts, one can tell where cuts were made. Possibly ADM's first edit? Definitely can tell who has done this by editing style.

----------

Name of Film and Editor: ADM ep2

Video (anamorphic, clean picture, etc): 90

Audio (clean sound, extra dubbings clean, etc): 90

Extras (bonus materials, commentary, etc): 0

(Multiply Score By Two) Edit (innovation, editing style, etc): 160

Divide by 5 to get the Final Score: 68

Additional Comments: Edit better quality than ep 1. cuts much better. integration of deleted scenes superbly done.

--------------

Name of Film and Editor: ADM ep3

Video (anamorphic, clean picture, etc): 95

Audio (clean sound, extra dubbings clean, etc): 95

Extras (bonus materials, commentary, etc): 0

(Multiply Score By Two) Edit (innovation, editing style, etc): 180

Divide by 5 to get the Final Score: 74

Additional Comments: in my opinion, the best star wars edit in the group. Great incorporation of deleted scenes, as well editing redundancies.

-------------

Name of Film and Editor: ADM ep4

Video (anamorphic, clean picture, etc): 85

Audio (clean sound, extra dubbings clean, etc): 90

Extras (bonus materials, commentary, etc): 0

(Multiply Score By Two) Edit (innovation, editing style, etc): 140

Divide by 5 to get the Final Score: 63

Additional Comments: Judge's opinion only! this movie did not need an edit. i understand, however, why the editor decided this. Technically, great job. clean cuts. streamlined the film.

--------------------

Name of Film and Editor: ADM ep5

Video (anamorphic, clean picture, etc): 87

Audio (clean sound, extra dubbings clean, etc): 90

Extras (bonus materials, commentary, etc): 0

(Multiply Score By Two) Edit (innovation, editing style, etc): 150

Divide by 5 to get the Final Score: 65.4

Additional Comments: I have to admit, watching the original, i noticed redundancies. ADM took care of these very well. also, he took care of the pseudo incest. good job. still seemed a bit blocky at parts, edit-wise.

----------------

Name of Film and Editor: ADM ep 6

Video (anamorphic, clean picture, etc): 90

Audio (clean sound, extra dubbings clean, etc): 82

Extras (bonus materials, commentary, etc): 0

(Multiply Score By Two) Edit (innovation, editing style, etc): 180

Divide by 5 to get the Final Score: 70.4

Additional Comments: finale of the saga. edits complemented the story very well. did not notice any harsh cuts. very nice indeed.

--------------

Name of Film and Editor: ADM Hannibal

Video (anamorphic, clean picture, etc): 95

Audio (clean sound, extra dubbings clean, etc): 90

Extras (bonus materials, commentary, etc): 0

(Multiply Score By Two) Edit (innovation, editing style, etc): 180

Divide by 5 to get the Final Score: 73

Additional Comments: Great edit. The exposition of the characters definitely make more sense. Seems to lag, but is to be expected with the integration of deleted scenes.

----------------

Name of Film and Editor: ADM Pearl Harbor

Video (anamorphic, clean picture, etc): 90

Audio (clean sound, extra dubbings clean, etc): 90

Extras (bonus materials, commentary, etc): 0

(Multiply Score By Two) Edit (innovation, editing style, etc): 200

Divide by 5 to get the Final Score: 76

Additional Comments: One of the finest edits done. perfect. so good, my wife (a history teacher) uses it to teach her class. especially liked the bar scene. No extras, hence the low score.

----------

Name of Film and Editor: ADM Star Wars Saga

Video (anamorphic, clean picture, etc): 89.5

Audio (clean sound, extra dubbings clean, etc): 89.5

Extras (bonus materials, commentary, etc): 95

(Multiply Score By Two) Edit (innovation, editing style, etc): 160

Divide by 5 to get the Final Score: 86.8

Additional Comments: I decided to combine this set as a saga and include the spoofs and musical journey addendums as extras. the above are the figures.

--------------

Name of Film and Editor: CBB Boogeyman

Video (anamorphic, clean picture, etc): 75

Audio (clean sound, extra dubbings clean, etc): 80

Extras (bonus materials, commentary, etc): 50

(Multiply Score By Two) Edit (innovation, editing style, etc): 180

Divide by 5 to get the Final Score: 77

Additional Comments: video cleaner than dezionized, and audio much better. extras are nice, including fanedited trailers. edit was beautiful.

------------

Name of Film and Editor: CBB High Tension

Video (anamorphic, clean picture, etc): 80

Audio (clean sound, extra dubbings clean, etc): 85

Extras (bonus materials, commentary, etc): 60

(Multiply Score By Two) Edit (innovation, editing style, etc): 190

Divide by 5 to get the Final Score: 83

Additional Comments: i now know what "Minus One Edit" stands for. great choice in film. edit was superb. only gripe i have is the lack of subs in this release. It's a good thing i know french.

-------------

Name of Film and Editor: CBB Matrix

Video (anamorphic, clean picture, etc): 70

Audio (clean sound, extra dubbings clean, etc): 70

Extras (bonus materials, commentary, etc): 85

(Multiply Score By Two) Edit (innovation, editing style, etc): 198

Divide by 5 to get the Final Score: 84.6

Additional Comments: I loved this edit. It rekindled my love for the matrix movies. the video and audio were a tad subpar. it looked like it was compressed as a divx/xvid file at some point. audio was a tad low as well. but any edit that has subs and a couple kickass trailers is a ok in my book.

-------------

Name of Film and Editor: GC Batman and Robin

Video (anamorphic, clean picture, etc): 90

Audio (clean sound, extra dubbings clean, etc): 95

Extras (bonus materials, commentary, etc): 0

(Multiply Score By Two) Edit (innovation, editing style, etc): 200

Divide by 5 to get the Final Score: 77

Additional Comments: great edit! who knew one could turn a crappy film like this and turn it to something viewable (not perfect, but who can chip perfection from this block of nonsense?). just a little over an hour long, chock full of batman goodness.

--------------

Name of Film and Editor: RB Willard

Video (anamorphic, clean picture, etc): 90

Audio (clean sound, extra dubbings clean, etc): 95

Extras (bonus materials, commentary, etc): 0

(Multiply Score By Two) Edit (innovation, editing style, etc): 150

Divide by 5 to get the Final Score: 67

Additional Comments: Edit is decent. cut together very well, but this edit primarily consists of just adding deleted scenes back in. lags the film a lot.

-------------

Name of Film and Editor: rec1aimer starwars saga

Video (anamorphic, clean picture, etc): 75

Audio (clean sound, extra dubbings clean, etc): 60

Extras (bonus materials, commentary, etc): 0

(Multiply Score By Two) Edit (innovation, editing style, etc): 50

Divide by 5 to get the Final Score: 37

Additional Comments: I really wanted to like this edit. the idea was great and innovative. the execution, however, was not. it's a first try, however, and i'm sure his next project will improve by leaps and bounds.

Bo Jackson on Tecmo Super Bowl
Time
I was playing Tecmo Super Bowl with a friend recently and we had to institute the "Nobody gets to be the Raiders" rule. Why? Because Bo Jackson is unstoppable in that game. Seriously, he is almost impossible to tackle and he's a lot faster than all of the other players. I've racked up 1000 yards against the computer with Bo Jackson in a single game before. Has anyone else noticed this? Is Bo Jackson quite possibly the most dominating sports video game character ever? I would say so.

THE FAN EDIT CONTEST HAS A WINNER !!! REVIEWS IN OFF TOPIC FORUM
Time
Well, speaking as a judge, I wouldn't have decided to participate if it wasn't going to be fun. I enjoy watching what other editors change to make their projects more fulfilling as a film. I would assume the participants entered the contest to share what they have done and have their work be rated and graded (and of course, possibly score some free swag).

The edits were supposed to have been rated as compared to a retail dvd (as I'm sure you have heard before). The reason we implemented a number system was for the fact we knew the judges had wildly different tastes. The only way to facilitate a winner was to do this. I rated the contestants to the best of my ability. A fan edit contest is, in the very definition of a fan edit, opinionated. Hindsight being 20/20, there should have been more specifics for the technical scoring of the video/audio. I have only myself to blame on that, since I drafted the cards for use.

By the way, I would have posted the cards last night, but I had a sick child. It will be posted tonight.

THE FAN EDIT CONTEST HAS A WINNER !!! REVIEWS IN OFF TOPIC FORUM
Time
so basically what you are saying is judging needs to fit a particular criteria. well, that's fine and dandy, except we are confined by what the editor has produced and submitted to us. Different judges have different opinions to what they would consider 100%. That's what made this contest fun. To see what the other judges thought of it. We decided to keep the scoring vague for that reason. we did not put limitations on what was considered superb quality because we figured the judge could make that distinction (and they have).

Billy, this is an open forum, and I respect your, and everyone elses, opinion. If you would like to post your review, please do so.
