Because it’s lame and reductive. It takes away what should be years of development a boils it all down to one moment. People don’t become who they are in an instant.
Learning how he met Chewie and Lando, won the Falcon, made the kessel run, fell into debt with gangsters ect. could be doled out over time through several stories. That would be much more interesting, fun and believable.
Just my opinion, of course.

I didn’t know Han would “meet” Chewie in the movie. I was hoping that had already happened before this story begins.
I still fear this will be a feature length version of the opening to Last Crusade where we see Indy get all of his defining traits in a single scene.
