Return of the Jedi- …sidestepping… Han Solo and Lando’s redemption arc
Why would Lando, the guy who saved an entire city and his friends (woulda’ saved Han on the spot if not for a certain wookie and lady) need a “redemption arc”?
It’s a personal peeve that this is so misread by audiences.
Not exactly bitching… but I do have a little conundrum.
I was at a small party tonight at a friend’s place, whose other friends I don’t know, and I met a girl who I took a liking to. I’m pretty (read: completely) inexperienced when it comes to women, and it was a very small party (about ten folks) in a small apartment, so there was never any chance to be alone to ask her out or for her number. I could seek her out on Facebook (probably possible, though I don’t use FB much, and it just seems a bit creepy to me), or I could text my friend about her, which seems awkward to. I don’t see us happening to be in the same place any time soon. What’s the best way about this?
Facebook is fine and not too creepy these days, BUT the old fashioned way is always best.
Talk to your mutual friend and find out about her situation and info. Then contact her directly. It shows confidence (even if you have none) and is more personal and nice than a message via facebook.
It also eliminates any chance to seem like a creep. You aren’t going through her pics n’ such. Just a nice guy doing things the right way like a Post Post-Modern Man. (DEVO!)

In all honesty the constant comparing is what’s killing any chance of enjoyment for these people. For goodness sake judge the new movies on their own merits without the constant, endless comparisons to a trilogy of films made 40 years ago.
If you want to compare The Last Jedi to other movies then judge it against its 2017 contemporaries… comparable films made with a high budget and targeted at family audiences; such classics as ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’, ‘Kong: Skull Island’, and ‘Justice League’. The bar is set so low and thank goodness that we are still getting films at the high quality level of The Last Jedi - stop whining, get some perspective, and appreciate how rare that is in the family film category.

I think I figured out a retcon to make sense of TESB and TFA. In universe when they refer to a system, they do not mean star system, but a group of worlds or moons as a political body.
This has always been how I see it. I never even considered that they were talking about solar systems until someone brought it up recently.
Sometimes I’ll forget about the age gap between me and a lot of other members on this site, but then someone will say something lame or post an old meme or something and I realise I’m basically hanging out with a bunch of thirty to forty year olds. No disrespect.
There isn’t enough time between lame posts for us to forget we share the board with kids.

It says here that the sound was a combination of an elephant recording from 1958 which had been used in several movies, overlaid with car noises.
It could be that this is how the sound they used was created and they relaid that story instead of saying “We stole it from Lost In Space.” 😉

On a side note: it’s a shame that Gary Kurtz got kicked out… could have made Return of the Jedi a 9 out of 10 rather than a strong 7.

I haven’t watched or read any reviews. And others opinions mean very little to me. There’s tons of highly praised films that I don’t like at all. There’s tons of low rated films that I love.
(I knew the Lady would want to see it at some point, so I skipped reviews I’d have normally watched, like Half in the Bag. Watched that tonight and, yes, they loved it too)
