It’s just that I liked nothing about it. It was tedious. Cliche anime characters speaking cliche anime dialog and going through cliche anime arcs.
The animation style was cool, but the design of everything was so dull that it was mute.
(I dunno if we’re talking about a single film or the entire trilogy. Don’t matter.)
I still love ya though.

Who says Han wanted to be reassuring ? 😄

Definitely one way it could be taken, especially since the betrayal would still be pretty real and fresh in Han’s mind after being frozen in carbonite till not long before. The fact Lando is obviously there helping with the rescue effort wouldn’t undo the emotional affects of the betrayal.

Ugh, here we go with this again…

WTF are you on about man? I think I know what you’re referring to but it’s got nothing to do with my above comment or this thread.

I find Lando’s “betrayal” to be a misreading of events and it’s a pet peeve of mine.
You brought it up and I made a joke.

What it really all comes down to is what adywan wants to see in his own personal edit of the film.

Not sure what you’re getting at by quoting yourself.
Of course it comes down to what Ady wants to do. All of it does. But it’s fun to debate and make a case for your opinion and Ady has made decisions based off these types of discussions.
You are more than welcome to wait silently until it’s all finished, without voicing any opinion, but don’t try road blocking the conversations of others.

Does anyone here think that either one of these two things will happen in the next 10-30 years. Will the sequel trilogy receive more love in the next 10-30 years by the fans, or be more divisive, kind of like the prequels?

IMO they will be kind of like how the prequels are viewed today. Where there’s some who still dislike every aspect of them, but most will have learned to live with the bad parts and enjoy the good.

Return of the Jedi… loved by everyone.

Nope.
It’s a good movie, but many consider it a let down. In many ways, the “Beginning of the End”.

Ha! Awesome.

Here’s a question for everybody:
Is there anything keeping Blade Runner and Alien from existing in the same universe at the same time? Could the Earth of Blade Runner be the one the Nostromo is returning to in Alien?
Is there anything in either film that would make this impossible?
Because I love the idea.

I think the natural state of the Force means anyone can tap into it, but needs practice and training to use it effectively, and some are more naturally talented than others and use it instinctually.

But the Force has its own will, and can “raise up” someone (like Rey) in a crisis situation (“Darkness rises, and light to meet it”).

I’m with this except, maybe, that last part. I don’t like the idea that the Force can bend someone to do it’s will. Especially the Light side.
I also haven’t seen the movie, so that might not be what happens.

He’s the best!

Even when he’s a giant fish-eating iguana?

Eh, sure. It’s fun to have one to totally hate on. It gave Toho a kick in the ass to make more, and they made a few great ones in the Millennium series.
It’s all water under the bridge now.

I mean, yeah, the dog makes more sense. But to me that’s literally the only thing about the theatrical cut that’s better.

Come to think of it, I might tweak it myself to replace the ox with the dog and leave the rest of the assembly cut alone…

Do it already and prove Ray simultaneously wrong and right.

This!
I only watched the Assembly Cut once and the Ox is the only major change I remember. Maybe it’s full of movie-strengthening differences.

But the dog is better than the ox!
The dog is well established in both cuts.
The birth scene is beautiful as mans best friend gives birth to it’s worst enemy.
The beast behaves and looks like a dog, just as Kane’s son behaved and looked human.
the scene where the dogs owner gets killed makes more sense and has far more resonance.
The ox has nothing to do with anything.
I don’t remember the other changes as I didn’t really notice much.

Must … resist … urge to … snark.
I liked this one in my teens ('90’s), but can’t stand it now, while ED & EDII are among my all time favorite films.
To each their own! It’s the most popular of the trilogy, so I know I’m in the minority.
Speaking of being in the minority…

Alien3 (theatrical cut)
Day of the Dead
