Continuing with that theme, I would update some of the CGI in the prequels.

The prequels could have flawless effects and they would still be absolutely terrible movies.

Of course, but better to improve what you can.

Why? Flawless effects wouldn’t make me want to watch the PT again. I see no point there.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) - 7/10

It’s far from perfect, but it’s a ton of fun. Robert Englund as Fred Krueger isn’t in it all that much, but every scene he’s in is gold. It’s funny how cheesy it is at times, and how obvious the fire suit is when Freddy is burned by Nancy, and some characters are underwritten and others are poorly acted, but most of the film is awesome. The soundtrack, direction, camerawork and sound effects are great, and overall it’s just a really cool movie.

The burn scene may have an obvious mask, but it’s awesome. It’s the longest a stuntman has ever burned on film in a single take.
I love the film right up to the final four-ish minutes.

I’m interested in hearing his instrumental stuff. These kinds of vocals are off-putting to me. Not knocking his voice or the style, but it’s just not my thing.
People kept pushing Postal Service on me 'cause my favorite band is The Smiths, so they insisted that Brand New and Postal Service would be a natural favorite. I just don’t see any connection at all.

CASSETTES WON’T LISTEN - SMALL TIME MACHINE
Had no idea what this was. You can see on the previous page that the album art, name and title (I didn’t even know which was which before looking it up) got my attention and I decided to give it a listen. I really need something unfamiliar in the air and this fit the bill.
And now I’m posting thoughts no one asked for.

It right away made me think of bands with a sound I hate. Postal Service comes to mind and I hated them. But, I don’t hate this. The first track, Metronomes, is neat and the second track, Large Radio, is great. The third track, Paper Float had me ichin’ for the skip button, but I kept it going off the strength of the first two tracks. Freeze And Explode is the next one and while better than the last one, it didn’t do much for me and the rest kind blurred together with the song Two Kids standing out as if it’s trying to bring the entire thing down with it.
In the end, it’s not bad, it’s just not my thing. But it was a nice break from all things familiar.

OH, and the thing was only like 20 minuets long. More of an EP than an LP I guess. So, if yer interested, check it out. Even if you end up hating it, it’s not long enough to ruin your day or anything.

Yeah, Halloween II ain’t bad, but it’s not worth repeat viewings if ya don’t wanna give it a second go.
Speaking of the cinematography, I love the way the camera moves and the way shots are composed, but neither film looks like Halloween at all. They look like early summer in California (it was) when it’s supposed to be fall in Illinois. The trees are all wrong. A few shots in the first one have some fake fall leaves thrown about, but not many. Carpenter helped to compose a color regrade of one of the DVD releases and it looks great. More orange in the trees and much more of a fall feel while keeping the cool blues and such. I wish that version would have been carried over to Blu-Ray.
I actually really like Halloween III. It has nothing to do with any of the others though and it is goofy. But it’s one of my Halloween season must-watch films.

I like that cover and title, Frink.
I don’t know anything else about it and I don’t wanna until I listen for myself*.
I can’t today, but I will listen by Friday and post thoughts.

*Can ya tell me if you like it or not? It just occurred to me that maybe it’s not an album you already like…
Just a “like it” or “don’t like it”, please.
I’ll still listen either way.

At least they seem to be into what ever is going on. I hate going to concerts in the USA. Everyone just stands around like they’re afraid of looking silly in some assholes pics or video. I’d much rather be in an audience filled with crazies like that than boring stiffs.

That said, if everybody has to be all fucked up (like they seem to be) to rock out, I’m out.

Thanks DoubleKO and Warb.
I’m not terribly religious, but I just know he’s with his mother now. He missed her very much. I know when I get to heaven several people, including the good Lord himself, will have to be pushed aside so I can hug my friend.

Also, I’d like to publicly state that I’m a proud member of the HATE PACKING/MOVING party. That dark day looms in my near future… Courage to all who have to deal with that demon. It don’t bleed, but it can be defeated.

Can we use up some of the crazy whitespace on larger displays?
Time

Tyrphanax said:

Currently there is a ton of whitespace around the main content of the pages on my 1920x1200 display, while everything else is very small and packed into the middle 960 pixels. It probably looks great on mobile, but it’s really compressed on desktop-sized monitors.

Could we get a bit of responsiveness in the design to let the elements spread out as display width increases? Maybe throw in some breakpoints or percentage sizing?

Thanks!

What I came here to say.

My brother had that same problem earlier in the year, Ric. Like faucet-level torrents of blood. Turns out he’d broken vein up there somehow that wouldn’t heal properly and he had to go get it cauterized several times before they finally got it.

I had to do that when I was about 14! I had to get it cauterized four times in one night!
I hope your problem with it ends quick, Ric!

I’m really not sure if I know what it is you’re talking about. Could you clarify on what you mean by “I knew some kids whose parents tried to force them to do it…”?

Yes, they made him speak in tongues so he faked it, which I guess kept them satisfied. The family was involved in some kind of Charismatic Church that strongly emphasized glossolalia. The image of their babbling was burned into my mind.

I had a friend start mumbling the lyrics to Mr. Boombastic when he was surrounded at a church and everyone had their hands on him. I was a believer at the time, but always hated the way the church would surround somebody who didn’t ask for it. The congregation bought it. He never came back.
