Just about sixteen years ago they were everywhere and ran the galaxy. Even Lil’ Annie knew all about 'em! Even if (maybe especially if) there were huge galaxy-wide book burnings, ban on all evidence, believers rounded up, ect., plenty of people would remember it and there would be plenty physical evidence to back it all up.
There just isn’t enough time between ROTS and ANH for me to buy any of it. I’m just not willing to believe that everyone in the galaxy is that stupid.
Like CHEWBAKAspelledwrong said, the prequels suck.

I don’t watch the PT, so it doesn’t factor into my SW canon, but I still wish that they had set the “extinction” of the Jedi much further in the past from ANH than they did. The only thing this affects in the films I like is that in R1 Jehah is a kinda “holy city” for the Jedis and force believers. That’s cool, but, as far as I remember, it seems to be a well known place and therefore the Jedi and the force are still fresh in peoples minds, or at least commonly known of.
So how is it that Luke has never heard of “the force”? I’ve always read Mark’s reaction to imply that Luke has never even heard the phrase used in the way Obi-Wan has used it.
I’d have liked to find out in the PT that Obi-Wan and Vader are much older than we’ve thought (Yoda seems to have used to force to prolong his life and maybe the Emperor too). I’d move Luke n’ Leia’s conception to after the Jedi murders.
I’d also have made Beru Luke’s mom’s sister. Her face and silence have always told me that she knows even more about the past than Owen. She’s also more understanding of Luke not being cut out to be a farmer, because she hasn’t always been either. It’s the only life Owen knows, so he’s extra defensive and “afraid”.

pre-coffee ramble is over

More importantly, that leading role wasn’t in a sad sack, trying to find a man, or clumsy damsel-in-distress way. It championed her as a strong, cerebral, honest, true to herself woman. She was successful because of who she was, not in spite of who she was. The show as a whole was my role model as a kid and has remained so to this day.

Well said, Anchor. Marry and Carrie were strong influences on me when I was young. They showed me the kind of woman I hoped to meet someday, which made me try to be a better man.
I only hope that there are still these kinds of women bringing this kind of influence to people today. I don’t watch enough TV to know really. (Tina Fey comes to mind)

JEDIT: Woah. Me n’ Frink quoted the same piece. Good words!

A lot has changed since Star Wars Revisited was released 10 years ago. What is the plan for distribution?

It will be an 8gb(approx) 720p mkv file at first, most probably available through usenet and direct download links. Torrents will most likely crop up not long after. The 25GB bluray and DVD will follow later in the year once i have completed the special features, which i haven’t started yet because i have been concentrating on getting the edit out of the way first

why 25gb why not the full 50gb.

Because dual-layer discs are more expensive and not as readily available/accessible to most people. Also at 720p it’s not likely to make much of a difference in picture quality.

but isn’t the quality going to suffer for it.

No. Not even a little bit.

Rogue One didn’t require a thorough understanding of the OT in order to enjoy it.

I guess not, but if I wasn’t already a Star Wars fan, I’d have no interest in this movie and probably wouldn’t have cared much about it if I did see it.
I have no problem saying that R1 is a movie made for Star Wars fans. If someone starts here and wants to watch the rest afterward, that’s cool, but I feel it was made for people who already dig Star Wars. And that’s fine.
