^Yep. I always say this when the “traitor” thing is brought up (see my previous post on this page).
Lando is a hero who did the right thing and it didn’t cost even one life. And even if Han had died, it was to save an entire city and all of his friends. Worth it.
Also, take note that Chewie, Leia & Luke all trust Lando completely after they find out he isn’t a bad guy and just saved all of their asses. He then goes off to save Han, the only person left in peril. (Which was trouble Han made for himself without Lando’s involvement.)

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

^ Yep. I’ll skip the non-finished version, thanks.
And, since I actually follow the project, I understand the delays are more than “Ady and Co. creating things to delay the project.” Real life can be a bitch. And entitlement can crate a jerk.

I have a feeling that the lava planet was added later and the original idea was that Vader was on a Stardestroyer. I don’t have much to base that on, so I could very well be wrong.
It would have been nice if he was on his big Destroyer from ESB. I know some would complain that it would ruin that ships reveal in ESB, but I see this film as a bonus story to the OT, not something to watch before it.

That’s fine, but it is still a scene that was shot with finished effects. That’s the point of the bonus footage scenes on releases. One of the ways it WOULDN’T have been is if Vader and Krennic had been having this encounter in front of Tarkin.

If they don’t want to have deleted/alternate scenes, that is disappointing but is ultimately their choice. I just have a heard time believing that what we saw in the film were the only scenes shot. Like, for example, the changing hairstyles of Saw Guerrera.

I agree.

I would personally prefer if they met on a ship (even if just ISD) instead of lava planet. It would give the feeling that Vader is constantly doing something instead of sitting somewhere.

I agree with this, too.

I started watching Return of the Jedi at about 6am, and its issues outweighed the good for the first time. Honestly, it gets worse each time I watch it.

I have been going through a similar experience with ROTJ but I don’t think I’ll ever see it as being anything less than okay. What was the one aspect of the film that caused you to change your opinion?

Nearly every character is misused and flat compared to their dynamic counterparts from the previous films. Han has nothing to do and is stupidly jealous, Lando’s betrayal is not addressed, Leia could be interchangeable with anyone, the sister plot twist has never sat well with me, Vader goes from wanting to overthrow the Emperor to being fine with having Luke kill him to prove a point that doesn’t make sense, the “I can turn him to the good side!” is incredibly naïve and sounds very childish, “A certain point of view?!”, Boba Fett didn’t need to be in the movie, the Ewoks ruin the film’s pacing, I could probably go on. These issues just got to me where the parts I usually enjoyed couldn’t save the film anymore.

The only point I disagree with is when you said Luke seeing good in Vader is naive. He surely should have felt something in Vader when he was offered a place at his side. I wish Luke could have said something like “Bringing our father back won’t undo all the things he’s done but it’s a start” or something stating the realistic nature of redeeming the right hand of The Devil.

I agree with this.

I disagree that there needs to be a scene with Lando and Han reconciling. Lando did the right thing and Han knows it. I would like a scene where that conversation happens.

Edwards’ explanation on the cut stuff/reshoots does make sense. Still, it just makes me want an extended edition even more. The shots of Jyn and Co. running across the beach are so exciting and the group having to run to another location to beam up the plans sounds great!
If your gonna cut stuff for time, how about losing the stupid call backs and cameos? Or the squid that didn’t do anything?
I’m still looking forward to seeing the film a second time and adding a fourth film to my Star Wars collection.

(with the mono soundtrack for Star Wars).

Is there a reason for this? Genuinely interested, I actually still haven’t properly sat through Harmy’s edits in full or looked into them too much.

Not my video but this video does show some examples between the mono and stereo mixes.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aeXpcYcZNDw

Ben Burtt said in an interview that at the time they purposely added and changed more things in the mono mix because at the time they thought it would become the default mix. Keep in mind many major studio films as well as most if not all television programming was still being mixed in mono at the time so this wasn’t necessarily a dumb decision on their part. But low and behold they reverted to the stereo mix for the video releases and it’s only in recent years through these fan edits and preservations that fans have been able to discover this very rare and different mono mix.

Oh, and Luke says “Blast it WEDGE where are you?” right after Wedge says he’s on his way. In stereo he’s asking after Biggs. What, Wedge isn’t good enough for you, farm boy?

Ooh, I never caught that! I actually thought that was a change Adywan made.
“Wedge” makes more sense, and so it’s the better line to use, but “Blast it Biggs” has such a good sound to it!

JEDIT: you could argue that Luke says “Biggs” because they’re friends and expected to watch out for one another. Would be better if the deleted Biggs scenes were in the film. Cough-seemysig-cough!

Not defending the prequels but that isn’t necessarily true. Showing anakins son learning what the force is for the first time is worthwhile even if the audience already knows.

But the problem is that if the audience isn’t familiar with Star Wars and starts with Ep.1, they have no idea about the Force, cause nobody tells them about it until Ep.4.
If these films were truly designed to be watched in order, that wouldn’t be the case.

Think of LBJ as many people can compare him to Kobe and Jordan but the widespread conversation of “is he” and a consensus that he’s one of the greatest hasn’t arisen yet.

That took me longer than it should have. LBJ means somebody else to old people.

Yeah, Lyndon B Johnson.

The little Ewan head at the bottom makes me laugh.
So does the rest of it.

What was George Lucas's worst decision with the Star Wars franchise?

Hi Scott Lobster! When I read your name, I hear Fred Schneider!
That’s a good thing!

I’m surprised to hear some people like the prequels more than the TFA/R1. Sure they haven’t really gone anywhere new yet, but I’d rather have filler with decent characters and writing than a “new story” that makes no sense and makes cringe multiple times.

I think you’ll find the most people around here feel the same way.

Also if anything he should have opted for Obi-Wan’s hairstyle in ROTS because that mullet was absolute shite.

I’ve actually given one mullet and trimmed two others. All three guys had various reasons for the atrocity, but also, they all knew they had a terrible hairstyle and totally rocked it. I can respect that. They were all very cool, funny guys.
Nobody asking for a PT haircut is cool or funny.
I’ll have to google to see the difference in Ep2 & Ep3 Obi-Wan. I just remember him having a generic Jesusy kind of thing goin’ on after the Ep1 flattop.

JEDIT: Hey, Obi-Wan’s hair in Ep3 is pretty good! Much better than I remembered. I’m glad the guy said “2” and not “3”. I’d hate to find out I turned that down actually.

Why isn’t this in a good movie?
