Thanks for clearing that up. I'll definitely check it out.
Thanks for clearing that up. I'll definitely check it out.
Oh, okay. The VHS OT I own was bought from a video store going out of business. The picture and sound quality on them is bad, but I still watch them. I olso own the SE on dvd and the complete saga on blu-ray.
I saw a stormtrooper suit in a magazine priced at 1,200.00 bucks once. It was a replica of a stormtrooper from ANH, though.
No I'm not familiar with "GOUT". I stay away from anything fans have done with the films if that's what this is.
I would like to see that. I'm too young to have seen the original version in theaters. I have them on VHS, though. And a VCR that still works.
that looks kind of like cupid.
Anakin fell to the dark side because he, like all villains, was weak. If a villain wasn't weak he'd be a hero like Luke. His reasons were lame because they were bull, lies he was telling himself to justify his betrayal of the Jedi. At least that is my take on his fall. This is the order I like the Star Wars films in from best to worst:
1. TESB
2. ROTS
3. ANH
4. ROTJ
5. AOTC
6. TPM
Well, my only response to your guy's posts is thank you for the insult free criticism. Some of which I even agree with.
Strange, I like TPM but didn't like the Yoda puppet and you like the Yoda puppet but didn't like TPM. Hmm . . . I wonder what a shrink would say about that? : )
I grant you it wasn't his best moment, but I don't think it ruined the scene.
I have no problem with people not liking the prequels. Everyone has their own taste. I'm just curious to hear some valid reasons instead of hate bashing, which is what I get when I ask. And I agree with you, Harmy, that those of you that want the original versions preserved and made available on blu-ray or whatever format you wish have a legitimate grip. It does seem that Lucas has a strange dislike for his original films. I like the original versions but I also like the SE. I would prefer a version of the SE where Han still shot first and Sebastian Shaw was still at the end of Jedi. I thought cutting him out of Jedi like that it was a very shitty thing for Lucas to do.
In the OT - when we first see Vader as he boards the Tantive IV. I was five when I first saw that & it blew me away.
Prequels - when the mask is first put on Anakin and we hear the iconic breathing begin. This scene made me feel five again.
I have many more but these are my two favorite.
What was so wrong with TPM? Yes Jar Jar was a stupid cartoon that Star Wars could've done with out, Anakin was way to make your teeth hurt sweet - he should've been feral like the kid in THE ROAD WARRIOR, and the acting wasn't great. Well, I don't think the acting was great in any of the six films except for a handful of the actors. I love Star Wars for the story not the acting anyway. Oh, and there was the crappy Yoda puppet. None of that was enough to ruine the movie I thought. It just caused TPM to be the weakest of the films. So, without unecessary bashing please, what other TPM critiques do you guys have?
I like TPM, but that puppet was awful! He didn't look like Yoda at all - in fact he looked more like a choking frog. I'm glad they fixed him with CGI, though I do like the way Yoda looks in EMPIRE better. The CGI Yoda looks decent to me, but his color has never been quite right. And the puppet from the OT had wiser eyes somehow.
Ok, since no one seems to like my Old Republic trilogy idea, what about a Yoda movie or trilogy? I’ve always liked Yoda & have always been highly curious about his past. And yes, I know Lucas would have to be left out of the writing & directing unless we wanted a muppet movie. Zahn as writer & Camron as directer. I posted on another thread that those two should bring the Thrawn Trilogy to the big screen.
I agree that it shouldn't have been added to Jedi. One of the few changes I think wasn't for the best.
Why does everyone dislike Vader yelling no at the end of revenge so much? Yes its over the top & a little cheesy, but I viewed it as the last little bit of Anakin being extinguished. Until Luke came along of course & proved that his father wasn't truly gone, only buried deep within the dark side.
The changes never really bothered me except for Han not shooting first, that change bugged me, but all in all I think they're still great movies. Too much change will eventually ruine the films, and I know some people think that has already happened, but for me if Lucas stopped now I personally could live with what he's done and be happy.
Just typed in star wars forums on google search.
I like most of the EU. Anything written by Zahn is must read, and with that being said, the Thrawn Trilogy are by far the best EU novels. I also like the Darth Bane books by Drew Karpyshyn eventhough they feel a little rushed. Chewbacca dying didn't need to happen though.
True, but he wouldn't let anyone else pay for it. I love his movies but the man is greedy.
Yeah I know I spelled it wrong. Didn't realize it until I had posted it. Oops!
Anakin calls Qui-Gon's lightsaber a laser sword in ep.1. He tells Qui-Gon that's how he knew he was a Jedi. Said only Jedi carry laser swords. Eventhough ep.1 is the weakest of the films I still like it, but laser sword & not Jar Jar himself but the way he talks are awful.
It would have to be written & directed by someone who could bring the darkness & grit of that eara to the big screen properly. James Camron? Or maybe Peter Jackson? George Lucas would be the producer. If done right I think such a trilogy would be good. What do you guys think?
The Thrawn Trilogy should be made into films. Timothy Zahn could write the screen adaptations with James Camron directing & George Lucas producing. It would be great!
