STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Has anyone ever made a complete video comparison of the 2004 dvd to the EP:IV :R dvd-9? i know doubleofive has hundreds of screenshot comparisons but has anyone done the whole move similar to Ady's test shot comparisons? Might be a little difficult to keep them synched and some places will have to be different (like Kenobi's hut).

While I love the Ady's new footage, I'm not sure I like the idea of seeing more walkers get destroyed. I know that the new stuff is added to account for continutiy issues of why we only see a few walkers later on, but I worry that seeing the rebels take out more AT-ATs will make the battle seem more evenly matched. The battle is supposed to be really lopped sided. the rebels in the trenches are sacrificing themselves to buy time for others to escape. This is really the only time we see the Empire's truly superior forces. The audience is supposed to feel that the rebels will not be able to make it out.

Perhaps a solution is to have more AT-AT's in the background so you know wellthat there are a lot more AT-AT waves coming and there is no way the rebels can defeat ALL of them.

Jumping back to a (possibly already solved) issue. I remember when we were discussing having Ian McDiarmid do the original hologram dialog, people said it couldn't be done 100% because Ian never ever says "Luke". Was this ever solved?

I have the episode 3 soundtrack with a bonus disc of Ian McDiarmid introducing music videos and in it he says Luke at least once. I couldn't find my cd in my apartment, but I found it on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuZtm6zGgCA

he says "Luke" about 46 seconds in.

Great point, i did always like the scene, i just think maybe the falcon should be looking like it's going IN the galaxy thing or whatever it is instead of just ranomly going off in a direction. Basically just minor changes r needed for the scene, which is the way it should be.

Docta Nick, I concur.

It's not a matter of replacing the galaxy so much as bring it closer (about double or triple the size - galaxies are pretty big and even with the galaxy that much bigger would still mean they are a few 1000 light years or more from the galaxy's edge. And yes, it is a galaxy) and take the Falcon shot when it approaches Yavin IV to show it heading directly away and to the lower left - as in; towards the galaxy.

Regardless, here are some images you all might find interesting:

(for full size)

(for full size) it isn't mentioned, but I believe the dish in the upper right is the Death Star laser.

The "dish" in the upper right is the Star Trek Federation Space dock.

Here is my 2nd attempt at it. This time I used the screen image from TPM, though I had to blow it up to work, so its pretty pixelated, but its still the type of image I would like to see on the screen, rather than the one in AOTC.

Thanks for the pic!

So now that a few days have passed for me since really having this chance to show my idea visually, I'm beginning to become curious for feedback.

What makes this idea work or not work, in your eyes?

Also, it relates to ESB, so its not entirely off topic! Control, control, we must learn control!

I don't think your idea works. I feel the scene is supposed to show Leia feeling more comfortable with Han. The focus is on their faces and their body language. cutting back and forth from faces to what is shown on the screen is jarring and loses the focus.

On another note, I kinda like that we don't see what the they are looking at. Similar to the wampa scene, less is more.

Discussion: Little Men, Little Wars - Share Your Star Wars Collection
Time

Oh boy a star wars toys thread!

I used to spend a LOT of money on star wars toys. I used to save up all my allowance (and later salary) and go to collectable shows. I was lucky that I already had a sizeable collection before ebay and action figure grading came out. Those really made prices skyrocket! For example, I bought a c-3po 12 back in mint condition for $200 in the year 2000. today that same figure would sell for $2000 on ebay! I couldn't buy any figures when the prices got that high so I stopped collecting...

I sold most of my figures to help pay for a house but I still have pictures... (sorry for the watermark)

my best stuff

Hey guys,

several pages ago there was a discussion about the duel in the carbon chamber scene. Right before luke falls in, vader does a cheesy lightsaber swipe, I guess to get luke to accidentally fall in the hole... I too never liked that scene so I came up with a possible solution: what if vader does a "force push"? I know Ady doesn't want to use prequel stuff in the originals but I think it really adds something to the fight. I don't like that luke is so stupid he doesn't realize he's gonna fall in. I also think vader is showing how superior he is. The force push would also occur in the middle of a bunch of other force powers (super jump, grabbing a lightsaber from across the room) so it flows well. I made a really crude mock up video where I cut out the swipe and added a really bad photoshop still with force push sound effect. (I apologize for the really bad quality of the edit I've never done one before)

let me know what you think...

HI guys,

I've been away for a while, but I've caught up and watched the latest clip. Looks great! I have a star wars encyclopedia (Essential Locations?) that has a 3 or 4 page pull out chart of the whole battle of hoth and the paths everyone took. It might be useful to use as a reference. Also it might make a good 30,000 foot view if it is decided that we see the rebel base as the transport is escaping. the book is somewhere in my apartment, if I find it, I will post high resolution scans of those pages if anyone wants to see it.

I've been trying to think of places where we can see extra losses of the rebels. I've made a really quick and dirty photoshop of a destroyed transport drifting in orbit when Luke is on his way to degobah. I know Adywan doesn't consider anything not in the movies to be canon, but in Tales of the bounty hunter, the transport that Leia was supposed to be on in the hoth evacuation was destroyed.

I don't think there was much of a temperature difference in the hanger (or the rest of the base).

1. Everyone is wearing heavy coats.

2. Recall the dialog between R2 and 3P0 right before they tell Han Luke is missing. Apparently R2 raised the temperature in Leia's quarters and it started to melt. 3P0's line is "It's supposed to be freezing"

whew! Just wanted to say thanks to Adywan. I've spent the past few weeks downloading SW:R and reading all 250+ pages of the ep IV thread and all 121 pages of this thread to get up to speed. I'm very excited to get in on these discussions while the project is still in development.

Hello All

I found the Revisited Trailer on youtube last week and have since tracked down this site, downloaded the XVID and DVD-5 and read all 256 pages of this thread! This is one of the most amazing achievements I have ever seen!

Unfortunately I do not have a DL burner so I wouldn't be able to watch the DVD-9. However, I really would like to see the special features from the DVD-9, especially the "making of" where Adywan explains how he made his masterpiece. Is there a place where one can download the special features without having to download the entire DVD-9?

Thanks,

porkins
