No one likes being told what to do, especially with things they spent time on and didn’t get paid for. Asking for it would probably be more effective in getting what you want. Just a thought.

I did ask for everything to be in 720p for my “Ultimate Edition” of the saga. I tried to be as polite as I could, but Jaxer proceeded to make fun of my request, possibly completely unaware of the fact that I know absolutely nothing about color correction. I was offended by their response, so I calmly stood up to them. If you thought I was being bossy, then I’m sorry if I sounded that way.

Never too late to learn. How you came off seemed rude and demanding. Most of the time with a project like you are trying to accomplish, the files are not just going to be there and ready. You will have to put in work with it. Everyone starts somewhere with editing. I recommend looking on YouTube for tutorials depends on your editor. I personally use Adobe Premiere for most of my work. Adobe has a 30 day free trial of it.

Denoise, Regrain And CC of ESB Grindhouse (Released)

Dreamaster : Could you clarify if your cleanup here was done from the original scans of the grindhouse, or from the grindhouse release itself (and therefore a re-encode)? It matters due to the upload rule of some sites which would allow the former, but not the latter.

If I’m remembering correctly, for v2 he got sent the original openexr scans from the grindhouse.

So, what is new with 3.0? not to sound rude like what I mean is is there anything new with it other than the Blu-Ray as a source? enhancements in the strobe lights? I love this project and I can’t wait for 3.0!!

It’s sourced from the Blu-ray and the colors look much nicer and slick. All the strobe lights are redone to be more accurate to the theatrical release. Otherwise nothing new has been added.

Having seen the theatrical version, I can say that your recreation is extremely close to what I remember. I am psyched for this. The original press release for the home video versions implied that the 4K releases would retain the theatrical presentation, and I was bummed when that turned out not to be the case. Thanks so much for making this!

Edit: I see the 1080p encode is coming soon - any ETA?

Thank you and you are welcome, and I just posted the links to the 1080p encode. The recreation is finally posted. There are a few graphical issues, but it seems to be derived from the source I used. Hope you enjoy 😃

There was a warning displayed before the film when I saw it, but apparently, it was not in the film provided by the studio but was added afterward by the theatres. Even with the warning, late-arrivers could easily have missed it with very serious consequences. I think it’s surprising that a big-budget film even made it to screens looking like that at all. A film that could potentially injure a viewer, where all the lawyers on vacation that week or something?

More info on the re-edit here.

Added information about Incredibles 2 theatrical release. Thank you CatBus!

Holy crap! Did the movie really look like that in theaters? That’s nuts.

More or less. There was a warning displayed before the film when I saw it, but apparently it was not in the film provided by the studio, but was added afterward by the theatres. EDIT: This is not intended to criticize narth at all for his effort. Presumably nobody will see his edit without full knowledge of what they’re getting themselves into, so no harm, good work, and as someone who saw it in the theatre, I can say it looks about right to me. Disney/Pixar, on the other hand, they should have known better.

Thank you for the information and links you provided. I still can’t believe that it was allowed in theaters in the state it was in. I figured Disney, if nobody else, would catch something like that. I’m glad they fixed it on the home releases, but I still believe there should be both versions available for people who can enjoy it. That’s why I have this project going.

I realized while rewatching the edit that one scene I actually forgot to add the pattern flashing, I had instead just had the shadows going so I’m going to further delay releasing the HD copies till v2.2 is up. Also, the 2k version will not be released after all.

How did you make this? you did an incredible job (No pun intended) but how did you recreate this?

Thank you. I used Lumetri Color in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2018. I just played with the exposure and contrast until I felt it looked good, then I had the shadows or the whites flicker from dark to light or light to dark each frame so it gave the flashing effect.

Version 3.2 has been released! Read through the thread to find where to get it!

Back during The Incredibles 2 theatrical run, certain scenes contained strong flashing lights. This decision ended up in people suffering from seizures while watching the movie. When the film was released on DVD and Blu-ray, the flashing lights were heavily toned down.

I sadly didn’t get a chance to see this in theaters, so I started recreating the flashing lights for the scenes so that I could see it how it was supposed to be seen, or as close as I can get. When I was about 80% done on the first version of this recreation, I stumbled onto the Star Wars 4K77 trailer and checked out the forums. I then decided to scrap what I had, switch to a 2k version sourced from an SDR 4k version, and get to work, so I could release it to the public so the theatrical version was available to see it in high definition. In early 2020, a new version from the 2018 Blu-ray was redone, being close to 100% theatrical accurate.

What’s new with version 3.2?:
This version was redone from scratch using the 2018 Blu-ray. All the lighting effects were redone, and more accurately sync’d to the theatrical version. I discovered that random bright flashes during the hypno-screens were in the original, so they have been added here. Though maybe not as frequent as the theatrical version. Also, a 10-second seizure warning has been added to the beginning of the film, something Pixar lacked on it’s initial release.

Once again, look for it on sharemania. Thank you for being patient! 😃
