Star Wars Fan Films / Shorts - a general discussion thread
Time

Kenobi was a very good view and covers part of stroy I iwsh we would have seen before in official Star Wars release.
It is very surprising to see a fanfilm get a massive number of hits in a short time, and over Christmas Holidays too.

The quality of fanfilms over the past years is very high and is improving. This makes for more entertaining watch, even if budget and some acting is limited.

The Rise of Skywalker box office results: predictions and expectations

$175.5 dom, 373.5 worldwide.

if WOM continues to solidify as mixed-to-negative (and it’s probably going to, if that happened with The Last Jedi despite better reviews and higher box-office, I can’t imagine it won’t happen here) there is probably no way it crosses $1 bil.

This has made less than Incredbles 2’s OW, and is making less worldwide than Batman v. Superman did in its opening weekend.

Sorry - my English language is limited. What is WOM? and OW?
Thankyou in advance

The Rise Of Skywalker — Official Review and Opinions Thread
Time

I enjoy the film very much - and had a good Star Wars feeling to it.

It is not close to the quality of Original Trilogy, but is good on its own terms, and also a good ending for the Sequel Trilogy.

I am glad that Kylo and Rey were given good screen time and story. I wish that other characters were given more time too but think we did not need new characters such as the man from Lost - Charlie?, Jannah and D0 - maybe more screentime and lines for Rose, Connix, Maz, Wedge or R2! 😃

A little strange we did not see more familiar worlds in the Galaxy celebrating at the end - or rising up to fight too. Yub-Nub!

I will look forward to seeing it again soon 😃

Viva Silverwook and Anchorhead!

Or: The Admin is dead! Long live the Admins!

Have you looked at normal threads throughout the “old” OriginalTrilogy? They’re littered with “banned” symbols. History tells us that, in a change of power, one of the first things the new administration does is to free the prisoners of the old regime (who were mostly political dissidents, or otherwise “accused” before a “kangaroo court”). Even TV’s Frink, well known as a free-reigning trouble-maker (just look at his post history), also deserves that same clean slate.

Or: Down With Proposition #3,204

The second thing the new administration does is to strike down the myriad of old laws, which were a never-referenced excuse for arbitrary tyranny anyway, and replace them with brief basic principles.

So, I SECOND THE MOVE for amnesty, or jubilee, to remove ALL old banned status from the old OriginalTrilogy, for the new OriginalTrilogy. Regarding donations, there are always strings on donations, both plus AND minus, so that’s a pseudo-argument. Finally, I finish with a reminder, and good luck to us all:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXrmQBPg2s0

It’s been over a year since the political dissidents in question were banned, and it’s been almost a year since the changing of the guard. If they were ever gonna be allowed back, it would’ve happened by now. Also, the mods have made it adamantly clear that it’s unlikely their bans will ever be lifted, even with Jay no longer calling the shots.

I continue to detest the verdict, and I believe it’s effectively killed Off-Topic, but them’s the breaks.

Frankly, I don’t think they care. Really the only reason this site still exists is the preservation section. They don’t give a shit if the rest of the forum is a ghost town or not.

Why do you think this? It seems you want to insult them.

The moderators efforts can be found everywhere on the site. Everybody can see them.

Yes it’s some anecdotal

You could pretty much just stop there I think.

He is just talking with no offensive comments. This is not serious topic: we just guess numbers for TROS, yes? This is some fun and is just talk about where we think, and has some of our personal events of going to see the film will be?

If you think thread is “pointless pretty much from the start” why tell other people who want to talk to be quiet? He does not crticize again, again and again like some use this thread to do on here.

We want to hear more, not less.
Thankyou.

Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *

I’m so glad they made the ST. When I recently re-watched the OT I could not help but think “This doesn’t make any sense! Men can’t solve anything! Palpatine would never be defeated by a couple of stupid men. Only a SIW could possible defeat him!”

The circle is complete.

Mon Mothma and Leia do not exist for you in the Original Trilogy? They did not play large role in Rebellion which defeat Palpatine?

Only men? Huh.

With your post above, your narrow view is complete.

Sorry if I’ve not been up with recent discussions, but what was broken about Holdo’s hair being purple?

Nothing mate.

Though some may want to tackle it as a technical challenge / exercise (apparently it is quite a difficult, labour-intensive task to to do - and get right).

Others don’t like the Holdo character and wish to make changes to her.

An aesthetic choice - some seemingly don’t like (through to some not being able to stand) people having purple hair in their Star Wars space opera / fantasy films.

A few have problems that the purple hair meant that the Holdo character was a lesbian; an oft-mentioned comment when making racist, sexist, homophobic or other derogatory comments on other female characters in the Sequels too.

I like to think most on here doing this change for Edits see it as an aesthetic choice or a technical exercise / challenge…

I think it’s really dishonest to reduce anyone who doesn’t like The Last Jedi to a bunch of politically motivated epithets like “racist,” “sexist,” “homophobic,” etc.

I suggest you read my post again - because I am not sure how you claim to that conclusion based on what I wrote.

“A few have problems that the purple hair meant that the Holdo character was a lesbian; an oft-mentioned comment when making racist, sexist, homophobic or other derogatory comments on other female characters in the Sequels too.”

You said “a few,” but you also said, “oft-mentioned,” and I have zero trust in you or others like you to make the distinction. You’ve defended Johnson for his fan bashing several times. “Oh no, he just doesn’t like the bad ones.” That’s nonsense. It’s essentially a political divide, and I think it’s fine to acknowledge that openly.

Racist, sexist, homophobic comments etc made in early TLJ threads in General Star Wars Discussion forum. Moderators remove some comments - some comments remain.

oojason says when many comments made above there were also comments about purple hair in as well. This is a fact - no ‘trust’ needed.

Political divide? On color of hair? Bullshit - unless if you mean it okay to make racist, sexist, homophobic comments?

He hasn’t died in vain, the Resistance will survive and his heroic actions will spread hope and inspiration throughout the galaxy. I think being ‘respectful’ to fictional characters is a stupid concept, but TLJ actually ends with a moment of immense reverence for Luke’s character.

Moderator Edit… to remove bashing on TLJ in which a reminder was given not to do just this two posts above (there are more relevant threads to do that in the ‘General Star Wars Discussion’ section)…

A quick reminder that the Star Wars Preservation and Star Wars Fan Edit sections of the site are NOT the places to bash on certain eras or aspects of the films, actors, film-makers or owners.

Critiquing a scene in the Star Wars Fan Edits section with the aim of improving it, removing it, altering it etc is perfectly fine. Statements such as ‘Disney sucks’ and ‘this film is so shit no Fan Edit can save it’ etc, is not.

and yet you still continue to bash films in here?

How many times you think moderators will let you do this?

They ask that no-one bash films in here - you can do that in proper threads instead. Yet you carry on bashing the films - and other people - in here. This area is for Fan Edits.

This is more important to you than doing it relevant thread in General Star Wars section?

Wow.

But it’s not in cold blood. Even in the original cut, it’s very clear that Han’s in serious poop. He’s held at gun point and Greedo made a not so subtle threat against his life moments earlier (“Over my dead body.” - “That’s the idea…”).

But otherwise, yes. Han shoots. Period.

Sorry my friend. I thought it was joke and suited for this thread as screams in the void said “have fun with it” in his open post.

crissrudd4554 said:

My prediction God forbid they should change this scene again is Greedo fires and the shot ricochets off the wall and kills him. Han never fires at all.

^ A very good idea for version 6 of the ‘Greedo vs Han’ scene! Just as Lucas always wanted to do when making film 😃
