Yeah, Trump is the least popular president (with the exception of Bush’s final year) in recent memory, but his fans are more devoted than any supporters that a President has ever had possibly in this nation’s history. It’s revolting.
I’d also throw the whole colosseum sequence in as a runner-up. That one’s miserable to watch for me.
I personally would say that the droid assembly line sequence in AOTC is the worst sequence ever to appear on screen in a Star Wars film. It’s long, bland, inconsequential, and ultimately completely forgettable. Do you agree? What would you say is the worst? The Ewok movies don’t count, the Clone Wars animated movie or TV shows don’t count, the Holiday Special doesn’t count, and Rebels doesn’t count. We’re only counting the live action films: episodes I-VIII and R1.
A lot of the humor in TFA was too blunt. “The garbage will do!” and lines like that felt very weak and kind of juvenile and uncreative. I actually liked the “cute boyfriend” line because it felt like an OT line. It isn’t trying to be a joke, it’s just a funny and lighthearted line similar to something like “It’s not my fault!” from Empire.
Any hypothetical positives which may come with Disney purchasing 21st Century Fox are grossly outweighed by the negatives. I want Disney to lose this deal.
The possibility of getting the OOT is very, very tempting though. Not to mention FF & X-Men back at Marvel. But I do see your point.
I doubt that the OOT is any more likely to come out after the Fox deal than it ever was, and FF (not even sure what that is) and X-Men is a complete nonissue that does not justify Disney monopolizing the film industry.
The worst one of those was when Mace Windu, Yoda, and Kenobi are all standing in the Jedi Temple atrium in AOTC. That one looked particularly bad. I also think LuckyGungan brings up a good point in that taking a still image of a fast-paced CG action scene isn’t a fair assessment of how it actually looks in motion. That still of Kashyyyk looked awful a few posts up, but it definitely isn’t that noticeably horrible in the film, even if it does still look fake.
Sadly the United States government has a bad record with not investigating criminal cults until it’s too late. Jim Jones, this, and Scientology as well.

I don’t understand how anyone can say, with a straight face, that we should automatically respect someone just because they’re a cop. If anything, it should be the opposite.
AOTC and ROTS also didn’t look as bad then as they do now since they’ve aged poorly. Scenes like the Coruscant opening weren’t ridiculed for how bad they looked at the time.

This bit about the cool people dying young is nonsense. Certainly there are myriads of uncool people who die young.
As for people who are(were) just as cool (or even cooler) at an old age: Paul McCartney, Stephane Grappelli, Maggie Smith, Vladimir Horowitz, Clint Eastwood, Samuel Jackson, Leonard Cohen, Michelangelo, Orson Welles, John Wayne, Sean Connery, Ella Fitzgerald, etc etc.
You forgot Roger Moore. Keep in mind, I said before that most people are not cool at all. So even the young cool people are total exceptions.
I’d still say this definitely looks miles better than anything in AOTC.
Disagree. There’s some stuff on Kamino (mainly the exterior shots) that look miles better than that scene.
I suppose so. I kind of forgot about Kamino and was mainly just thinking of Geonosis and the space bugs. The opening of ROTS wasn’t too bad visually, though. The worst of ROTS was some of the stuff on Coruscant and parts of the General Grievous planet.

I think I was more going for the idea that most, or at least a lot, of talented or smart people (or talented smart people) die young. If they don’t die young, they don’t necessarily lose it.

I don’t agree with Frink, but what I consider cool isn’t what most people consider cool. I think talented people and intelligent people are cool. I don’t care what people look like or what cars they have, etc. etc.
