I’m glad someone finally admitted that they want certain movies to fail.

Well, yes. I hate the “2edgy4u” direction DC’s films are going in under the Dark Lord Snyder, and the sooner it fails, the sooner they have to reboot it all and hopefully not be embarrassed by the comic source material.

The edginess doesn’t bother me because for one they have to tonally differentiate themselves from Marvel. Secondly, if the writing is good it wouldn’t matter if it were dark or was even more lighthearted than Marvel films. I definitely agree with Dark Lord Dudebrah. After BvS it’s almost like jumping into a cauldron of magma to hire him again but if anything DC needs some new people making the executive decisions. They are the root of the issue.

Critically, Zach Snyder’s Superman movies have been flops, but financially they’ve done great. In the eyes of the producers, there’s no need to switch it up.

I just don’t understand how someone can say that a light that is now illuminated in the background of one shot in Raiders of the Lost Ark that they likely didn’t notice until reading on this forum that it was changed is on the same level as digitally replacing an original actor with Hayden Christiansen.

For the record, I think this entire forum has an enormous stick up its ass about authenticity in color timing. Also for the record, I haven’t actually seen any of the Indy blu-rays, so if they’re actually full-blown ugly I guess that’s a legit problem.

Raiders is the one with the controversial color timing. It’s a matter of opinion whether it looks ugly or not; I think it’s fine. The other two don’t look much different than the DVDs as far as color goes.

I agree with you on the color stuff on this forum.

There’s an attitude of all changes being a crime against culture on this forum. A flickering light and a snake reflection in a total of about 60 frames is an unreasonable justification for illegally downloading a 25 gb file of the exact same movie. I can see being irritated by the colors, but my point was that Dek saying Spielberg is a liar is ridiculous when he doesn’t know what the theatrical colors actually were, especially since not all prints are exactly the same.

Welcome to Originaltrilogy.com!

Ha! I know.

I should add that I don’t want anything to be fixed in these movies, I just don’t think that a touched of reflection warrants uploading and downloading copyrighted material in the same way the SE’s do, seeing as how those are essentially different movies.

The fact that there are digital changes made to the original film is a problem no matter how insignificant they are.

Maybe, I’m not sure how I feel about that.

And I’d say the light is an SE level change, because it’s so incredibly pointless and very noticeable.

I doubt it’s noticeable since I’ve watched it at least 150 times on VHS, DVD, and blu-ray since I saw it 20 years ago and didn’t notice it. I also haven’t seen a complaint about it until now. Unless Spielberg added a CGI termite singing a pop song during Indy and Marion’s love seen, I wouldn’t call it an SE change. Also, (and I honestly don’t know what you’re talking about, so I’m probably wrong) the light could’ve easily been a mistake in the previous versions. You really don’t know. It’s just like how their are dozens of different audio mixes for the first Star Wars movie. There isn’t an original version.

Spielberg claims that the coloring on the blu ray is closer to the theatrical look, and I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt now that he’s denounced the ET changes.

He lied.

I’m sure it was a lie with malicious intent, with the sole purpose of destroying the integrity of a classic film. By the way, you don’t know what the theatrical look of the film was.

Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

Just watched the 35mm version, and it was great! I really hope they can get the other print scanned so that it can be filled in, cleaned and polished.

What is the difference between that and the original? I could have sworn there were screenings of TFA that were in 35mm.

That is the original. A scan of a 1982 35mm LPP was done and was released on the spleen. None of the digital home video releases to this date represent the original version of the film.

I don’t know what you mean by “represent[ing] the original version of the film,” but a 35 year-old LPP can’t be too trustworthy either, unless there are special-edition-like changes on the blu-ray of Raiders of the Lost Ark that I’m unaware of. Supposedly the reflection of the snake has been touched up, but I see no reason to watch a beat-up film print over the pristine blu ray copy for that alone. Spielberg claims that the coloring on the blu ray is closer to the theatrical look, and I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt now that he’s denounced the ET changes.

Suicide Squad is getting panned and hearing that made my day. Will Warner Bros. come to their senses and hire competent filmmakers with respect for the source material to reboot their failed universe? Will Zack Snyder retreat to live alone in a cave? Tune in next time! Same Bat-time, same Bat-channel!

I’m just sick of being bombarded by these franchises. If this bombs like the Ghostbusters

It’s gonna pretty much break even. Not a success or a bomb.

Breaking even is essentially bomb when you’re hoping for a film to start your cinematic universe. You can’t make twenty-five sequels, prequels, and spin-offs of a film that breaks even.

I’ve noticed a lot of criticism of the Catholic Church lately. I actually really love and respect that institution.

Why? Whenever someone is referring to how violent of a religion Christianity is, they almost universally are referring to the Catholic Church. Also, I’m pretty sure that their official stance, even though Pope’s of late have been incredibly ecumenical (something that simply does not go hand in hand with Christianity), would be that Joseph Smith and his successors were false prophets. Why would you respect an institution that claims that?

Sure, it utilizes more than the Bible as a source, but I assure you, so does Protestantism, even when they pretend not to.

I feel like this should be a red flag for Christians. At my most faithful I was always against Lutheranism and Calvinism too for the exact same reason.

I think that you are being tolerant for the sake of tolerance. You are usually fairly articulate when you actually post a real comment that is more than a few words. I can’t believe that you actually think that the broken english seen on Twitter is just simple change.

EDIT: I can’t believe that you actually think that things along the lines of, “dat wat ha lil gotta be jk ma azz” is not an example of the regression of the english language.
