I failed to prove my point, so I give up.

You didn’t even attempt to inform anyone of what your point was. I think I know what you’re going for, but I can tell you that most people don’t like being manipulated, even if it’s obvious, so next time just tell us what you’re talking about.

I have zero idea what you are talking about.

I’d like to know why chyron legitimately enjoys the show. I want to know what he gets out of it.

I have no idea how that has any relation to pictures of Johnny Weir.

Alright then.

Tolerance has nothing to do with questioning, or even judging, the weird things that people choose to do.

ok.

You’re obviously trying to prove some kind of weird point so can you just come out with it rather than play games trying to get people to respond exactly how you want them to?

I’d still like to know why you enjoy it. What do you like about the show?

I promise not to mock.

What would say to me if I asked why Johnny Weir dresses like this?

I’d answer you by saying that it’s a combination of performance art, image-crafting, and self expression.

I was asking Frink.

I’d give a similar answer.

Right. I hate to presume to speak for dear old Frink, but I have a feeling he’d say something similar.

I know, I’m answering you. By the way, dressing for attention is less confusing and easier to understand than watching a show geared specifically toward small children and only small children.

I think it’s pretty dumb that a bunch of adults who enjoy Star Wars as much as we do, even going so far as to watch that which is geared towards children (i.e. the Ewok movies, CW 2003, TCW 2008, Rebels) feel justified in making fun of a guy for watching MLP.

Yeah but a grown dude watching MLP is weirder. This is nothing against chyron specifically, I just find the whole Brony thing very strange. I do not understand why they like a show that is aimed at little girls so much, and as I’ve said I’ve seen plenty of it so it’s not like I have an uninformed opinion of it.

Would you find the same thing “very strange” if a grown woman was watching it?

Dunno, are there any here?

None that I know of. I’m just asking if the situation were to come up, were you to feel uncomfortable?

Uncomfortable? Of course not! chyron does not make me uncomfortable either, as I’ve already said. In fact, he seems to be the one who is uncomfortable (around gay/effeminate men, certainly).

Revised:

I’m just asking if the situation were to come up, were you to feel that they are weird?

Probably. Possibly less so because it’s obviously targeted at girls but still probably so.

FWIW my wife feels exactly the same way about it as I do. It’s a fine show for our girls but it’s also annoying as shit.

Okay then. Is it just the aspect of an adult watching a kid’s show that feels weird to you?

I feel like I keep answering the same questions over and over. Perhaps I’ll just go watch Strawberry Shortcake or Sophia the First for a while instead.

I just felt as if there were some masculinity aspect to your opinion.

I think to a degree there is, but I doubt Frink or I would say it’s weird for a guy to like Girls or Grace and Frankie. Like I said, it’s the fact that it’s an extremely juvenile show geared toward toddlers to early elementary school aged kids.

I don’t understand.

He’s expressing bemusement at your use of symbols.

I thought he was making fun of Warbler claiming that being in favor of tolerance requires approving of someone’s taste in TV shows.

Not to speak for Frink’s TV, but the fact that it is that juvenile of a show is probably what feels weird to him.

I actually did interact with a guy in person that said he liked My Little Pony and felt the need to remind me multiple times. This was at least four years ago and yes it made me very uncomfortable. Online, no I’m not uncomfortable, just confused.

That wouldn’t bother me any more than it does here. I’d think it’s weird but it wouldn’t make me uncomfortable.

With that said I don’t think I’d want to discuss it with them or anything.

I didn’t want to discuss it but he kept bringing it up, in public no less. That made me incredibly uncomfortable.

Maybe we should be asking why those other kid’s shows don’t have an adult fanbase. All I’ve ever seen of MLP was the '80’s incarnation, and that was no more or less a toy commercial than GI Joe or Transformers back then.

I’ve got a few theories, though none of which involve great character development or intriguing plot-lines.

FWIW I’ve never seen the Ewok movies, CW is fine but whatever, I’ve never seen Rebels, and I don’t even watch Star Wars that often.

For a guy who became upset with chyron for saying he personally struggled with effeminate and flamboyant homosexuals, why do you judge him for being a straight man who likes something girly?

The former is a personality trait that, for the most part, is unconsciously demonstrated. I think that My Little Pony being girly has less to do with it than the fact that it’s a semi-educational show that is geared towards teaching very young kids how to behave and the value of friendship.

We can be accepting of all sorts of gay men, but a straight man must be manly or it’s creepy?

I don’t think it has anything to do with manliness, just the fact that it’s a show that is geared specifically towards the toddler and early elementary school age. There’s a difference between family entertainment like Star Wars, Mickey Mouse, or Pixar and specifically children’s entertainment like Bob the Builder or My Little Pony.

Tolerating immutable characteristics in someone’s identity or appearance is completely different than not understanding why someone watches a TV show.
