Seriously mfm, instead of saying there is no reason, you should ask someone who had a reason. It’s arrogant to assume that because you’re not aware of a reason that there can’t be one.

I don’t think there are any good reasons. Looking back on high school, some of my favorite acquaintances were girls and I wouldn’t have meant them if I went to a boys’ school. I get why boarding schools are segregated, because of their dormitories, but that’s just a logistics reason.

I don’t quite understand why a college-aged male would feel the need to go to an all-male college though.

I don’t quite understand why a college-aged female would feel the need to go to an all-female college though.

It has been explained to you.

It’s still a terrible explanation. I’m sure a man going to a male-college because Mom neglected him would also be called out as a really weird and irrational decision that (in your mind) wouldn’t justify the existence of all-male colleges.

What a great comparison!

It’s a fair comparison because both are irrational.

Neglected son and raped daughter are both totally acting irrational…

If they wanted to go to gender-segregated schools for those reasons, I’d say yes. You’re saying that one is and the other isn’t.

I’m saying that I can understand why one would think that way if one were raped, irrational or not.

Sure I get it too, I’m just saying that it’d be an irrational decision. I don’t see why it’s problematic to say that.

A degree. Also, secondarily, an experience.

A shitty experience.

Did you not find yourself, discover new horizons, and make lifelong friends?

No, I downed sleeping pills and contemplated driving into Lake Erie.

So you’ve learned Lake Michigan is better? Or just closer?

No it’s just bigger.

EDIT: To be fair, I don’t know if you’d call the son irrational, I just assumed. Sorry if I’m wrong.

What does rape have anything to do with the existence of an exclusive private school?

It doesn’t, it’s just a way to justify a double-standard.

Ok.

It’s a paranoid and irrational way to choose a college. Presumably she’d also never leave the campus property ever again either to avoid contact with men. She’d also have to never enter into any kind of professional or personal relationship with a man either since most assaults and rapes are perpetrated by people the victim knew socially before it happened.

EDIT: And by the way, everyone reading this knows I’m right.

Ok.

I’m right.

And no.

They should, because I’m right.

I know y’all will be annoyed with that article but so be it.

Just because some people are dumbasses and don’t understand the film’s rhetorical approach doesn’t mean the movie is bad.

That’s fine.

I’m not saying it’s a bad movie. I’m saying it has problems.

It does not.

You don’t even see anything wrong about giving that shitbag a cameo where he gets to do a commercial?

I don’t know if it’s wrong or not, but I certainly don’t care.

Noted.

I mean, really, do you?

Would I have brought it up otherwise?

I guess probably not, but I find it quite shocking that anyone on earth cares. It’s not like they gave Alex Jones a cameo.

Your experience is not universal.

I’ve heard a lot of other people’s experiences and have deemed most of them to be shitty by my standards.

EDIT: Better add a winky face to this. 😉

I don’t either, but there’s no legitimate reason in my mind why a college-aged female would feel the need to go to an all-female college either. It’s all based on an antiquated gender “community” idea. Like year-round men’s poker night or lady’s night or something like that. I’ve never understood why people find any kind of community based on gender.

Maybe I’m looking at this wrong, but if you don’t identify as a woman, why go to a “college for women”?
And if a person with a penis identifies as a woman, will they admit this person?

Why is there still a “college for woman”? It would not be allowed in any way shape or form a “college for men”.

Why is there still a “college for black?” It would not be allowed in any way shape or form a “college for whites”.

That’s totally different.

Wrong. I’m pretty sure there are boarding schools for boys.

Yep. There are four colleges for men and several boarding schools for boys.

I actually went to a boarding school, or rather a military school, for my last two years of high school. It was all boys.

I wasn’t even thinking of military schools. I knew those were segregated.

Why do people take on incredible amounts of debt to go to any school?

Genuinely asking, I have no idea why I did it either.

It was hammered into me that it’d be the only way I could get a job and not live a shit life. To be fair, I do live moderately well, but that’s just because I live cheap and don’t have a family.

There aren’t still colleges and boarding schools for men and boys?

EDIT: Just looked it up, there are a few.
