Doctors are too much money.
Doctors are too much money.
I’m really glad I don’t have a google account.
I will never as long as I live understand the appeal of movie theaters.
Most people don’t hate being in the company of other people.
I will never as long as I live understand most people.
I can’t imagine why the disgusting slob type crowd would be filling a theater to see 2001 in 70mm.
Pretty much this, and true 70mm in a proper theater is something to behold.
Exactly. Not even remotely comparable to an at home blu-ray viewing, even if you have a 120" screen.
But at home you can lay on your couch with a pillow and a blanket. That’s a big draw for me.
EDIT: And another point to the theatrical experience, I’ve been to seven films in theaters since 2015, all of which would be considered more popular to the average crowd, and I never ran into annoyances caused by others in the audience. Literally the only problems were caused by the actual theater.
I’ve been to theaters somewhere around a hundred times since 2015, and same for me. There’ve been a couple times with some rowdy audiences members, but nothing movie-ruining (and percentage-wise, not too bad considering).
My theater experiences are at about a 60:40 in terms of the bad audience to decent audience ratio.
It’s something I would like to behold for the first time in my life, and 2001’s 50th seems like the most special occasion for me to grab a chance at it. If it comes anywhere near the empty void known as North Dakota.
North Dakota is actually one of my favorite states. It’s peaceful and I loved the time I spent there.

I can’t either, but they’re everywhere.
Or buy a blu-ray copy for six dollars and watch it in the comfort of your own home.
This is the single worst piece of advice I’ve heard anyone give.
Presumably at home you don’t have to listen to some disgusting slob chomp on popcorn right next to your ear while the disgusting sick person snorts snot back up her nose in your other ear while screaming kids’ cries fill the theatre because their disgusting parents couldn’t be bothered to pay a babysitter twenty bucks instead of bringing them to the theater. And then the film will come off the real. What a great experience to spend fifty dollars on.

I don’t quite remember. I think I learned the basics from school and then puzzled through picture books I had memorized that my sister had read to me. From that point on I was just always reading because I had nothing better to do.

The Vatican was quick to damage control on that one.
By “damage control”, basically the Vatican pointed out that transcription of the Pope’s words regarding this are unreliable because no actual interview was given and what was report “is the result of [the author’s] reconstruction”.
Right.
The Vatican was quick to damage control on that one.
It (1990)
It was actually better than I expected, the first half especially. Tim Curry I reckon made this movie, and there’s definitely a reason that his portrayal is so iconic. The kids all did a great job as well, it was kinda funny that they were better actors than the adults. The entire ending was ridiculous .
SPOILER
Basically from when Mike is stabbed until the credits were awful.
I’m reading the novel at the moment which is pretty good, although I’m not far enough into it judge it fully. I’ll probably watch the new movie soon, seeing as it’s out on Blu-Ray.
7/10
I was considering making a fanedit of the TV movie that edits out every single flashforward with the adults from the first half, but I’m not sure how I’d edit around all the awkward close-ups and dissolves.
What does “not taking chances” have to do with pessimism?
I was taking that to mean that the assumption that things could always get worse makes you more risk-averse than the assumption that things could always get better (in the case of making a decision without many facts to support either position, gut feelings rank higher).
I suppose I could see that, but there’s also the benefit of being so pessimistic you don’t even care about negative consequences. That’s probably just apathy though.
He’ll soon be back. And in greater numbers.
That’ll get him banned.
As long as he walks on a single file line, he’ll be alright.
That’s when I carried him.
You always struck me as the type who’d prefer to be carried, honestly.
I don’t even know what this means, by the way.

I wish Papa Murphy’s sold by the slice. I’m not hungry enough to eat a whole pie.
The give you a triangle-shaped piece of crust, some sauce, and some cheese, and you make it yourself.
I hope the sauce comes in one of those little ketchup packets. A plastic cup would be too convenient.
I just laughed out loud for the second time in twenty-four hours thanks this post. Thanks a lot! 😃
Are you implying that Warbler tried to choke you with the force? Also, are you implying that you’re his secret lover?
If you live in the United States then you must not have slept for very long.

I laughed for the first time today because of this. Thanks a lot.
If one is pessimistic about an effort being successful they’re liable to not try, I reckon.
I know this to be true from personal experience.
Not from my person experience. I’m reckless. That’s what’s magical about humanity, we’re all unique in the way we make mistakes. Everybody fucks things up differently and for different reasons and that’s really a beautiful thing.
What does “not taking chances” have to do with pessimism?
Watchable?
Wicker Man.
I meant watchable for not so-bad-its-good reasons. I should’ve said that but I had forgotten we’re talking about Nicolas Cage.
What was the last movie Nic Cage was in that was actually good? Seems he’s been in nothing but schlock since the mid '00s.
I don’t know about a good movie, but the last time he was in an almost watchable movie was probably the National Treasure movies.
Know TNG?
These Star Trek spin-offs are out of control.

Not only does everyone else reading this post know this is wrong, deep down you do too. Sorry chap.
You’re embarrassing yourself.
you ok my friend?
No, I’m not. But what does that have to do with anything? I also don’t appreciate being called a “friend.”
I’m not your friend, buddy!
Thank you, that’s what I like to hear. 😃 😉 :p 😉 😃 😛
So really being a pessimist is the most win-win way to live life up the fullest.
Pretty much have to agree with this. A life with no disappointments and some happy surprises, what’s not to like?
There’s plenty not to like, but at least it’s reality.
